Love this sm. Must have moreee
ok i’m so sorry but i have another fcnd fic idea and it is GNAWING at me:
y’all know how salty i am about the deputy/judge situation. yes? yes. ok, so the deputy is abused and manipulated and brainwashed and over all screwed around with by joseph seed for SEVENTEEN. FUCKING. YEARS. never mind the stockholm syndrome they’ve got by the bucketful, let’s talk about if they had a last little bit of hope left inside them, even as they put on the mask and became the judge. let’s imagine the pain in their heart when after years of imagining their old friends busting down the bunker door to retrieve them that doesn’t happen. let’s think about the betrayal they must suffer when they are led out into the new world and their old friends are just. chillin. yeah theyve got work to do, a world to rebuild but this is ROOK. the one person who is so ride or die the gfh can sure as hell count on them to blast through the fucking wasteland to come get them if the roles were reversed. and they spend all that time with seed thinking ‘yeah it’s bad now but tomorrow they’ll come for me. or the next day. or the day after that…’ and it just. doesn’t happen. and they’re left to realize that the people they loved, the ones they counted on for the same rescue and safety that the dep had provided them countless times just…decided they weren’t worth the effort. and now? now they look at the judge like theyre something alien; something other. something wrong. the gfh tell the judge they aren’t welcome anymore; maybe in not so many words but rook has always been a person of action and they can pick up on that shit in a second. the message is clear; ‘you are not one of us,’ the gfh are telling the judge, ‘you are one of them.’
‘they left me to rot,’ dep thinks.
‘i was torn apart,’ dep thinks.
‘i am not who i was,’ dep thinks.
‘they say im one of joseph seed’s,’ dep thinks. ‘its like im the bad guy now.’
‘ok,’ dep thinks. ‘thats fine.’
‘they want a villain? i’ll give them one.’
so they bide their time and after all is said and done: the highwaymen are taken care of and joseph seed is spared by the captain? then new eden is suddenly in ruins once again. joseph seed is found with a knife in his heart. there is chaos.
and slowly, so very slowly the gfh realize something they really should have seen coming: their judgement day has arrived.
and rook? well, they’ve always been particularly good at raising hell.
tldr: the salt queen is back and i am here to deliver the only concept for a villain/misunderstood dep/judge that i will accept and also a new idea for a dlc for fcnd. in other words, ubisoft hmu i got dlc for your dlc.

So i was watching some scenes of the Joseph: Collapse DLC and Faith's section is so... different.
For starters, Faith is ANGRY. She is pissed and awake. She's not his dutiful faithful anymore. She knows and remembers EVERYTHING. She slapping him and insulting him and showing way more of her anger then she did before. I truly believe near the end she was Rachel rather than Faith, I'm not really sure she even gets a "Joseph, You saved me" arc like the others did (even Ethan got one)
I'm not an analyst so unfortunately I can't write a whole essay about it but it made me love Faith's story more and it sucks she doesn't get more attention or fanfics in the Far Cry fandom.

I have a question, maybe two! Your Rook survives the game with the bunker ending, no? What will she be like in New Dawn? Will she be Joseph's judge? (And what would she be like, if instead of Joseph she was stuck in a bunker with any of the other siblings?) (●'◡'●)
Yes! She will be his judge! (I like to not stray too far from canon) I've thought about this once before, and the conclusion is the same now as it was then. John would be the worst bunkermate ever.
Thank you for the message 🥺❤

Can’t believe Thomas Rush and the Captain of Security invented love

Don't forget that Cap is the one to reset his leg. The way he looks at Cap 😍😍
indisputable proof that thomas rush and the captain of security were in love... or that ubisoft just really hates us:
thomas refuses to leave the captain behind in the train even when barnes wanted to leave them
ok grace, i hear you say, but barnes is all but confirmed to be a weaselly little coward anyway. you’re totally valid and correct. but anyone could’ve come back for the captain, not just thomas. also consider:
thomas struggles when barnes is killed by lou, but he only overcomes the highwayman holding him when he sees the captain in imminent danger
ok grace, i hear you say again, but maybe that was his only opportunity, or maybe he wasn’t sure the twins were actually gonna kill anyone until lou crushed barnes’ head like a melon. you’re right, but he also sacrificed himself for the captain and pushed them off the cliff into the water, saying “save yourself,” probably knowing full well that he was gonna get whacked upside the head by lou. plus:
when the captain finds him in the coal mine, he’s in the process of bashing a highwayman’s head in with a crowbar. when he sees the captain, he abandons the crowbar in favor of choking the guy out
ok grace, i hear you say once more, but maybe that was easier, or maybe he wanted a nonlethal takedown. but it’s probably much harder to take someone out by choking them with a zip tie holding your wrists together than it is to just knock em out or kill them with a crowbar. and further:
the twins kidnap thomas to use him as bait for the captain once they come to realize the captain is the real threat
the captain disarms themselves and follows the twins’ instructions to the letter when they‘re in the final stage of the “through the wringer” mission because they don’t want the twins to hurt thomas
also, their forbidden fruit superpowers only activate (either inadvertently or because they chose to) after thomas is killed
also also, they manage to drag themselves up several flights of stairs after being brutally beaten, shot almost point-blank with a shotgun, and falling out a third- or fourth-story window (either way it’s really high dammit) just so they can retrieve thomas’ body
also also also, it’s heavily implied that the captain carries thomas’ body back to prosperity by themselves while still heavily wounded, then proceeds to dig his grave and bury him themselves as well
ok grace, i hear you—why can i hear you? are you in my house?—but thomas and the captain could’ve just been good friends!! maybe family if that’s what you’d like to headcanon! and to that I say... yes, you’re entirely right! and super valid! but here’s my final two cents:
the captain returns to thomas’ grave at the end of new dawn; it’s the final objective in the main storyline, and they sit there and reflect until carmina comes to talk to them
a watch is hooked over the wooden stake holding up the nameplate above the grave. you can see thomas wearing it in-game, so... same watch?
ok grace, i hear you say, now thoroughly exasperated, what does a watch have to do with anything? well... probably nothing, tbh. i just like thinking the captain gave him that watch. thank you for coming to my ted talk <3

On JK Rowling's thing about after the fact diversity
My big issue with all of this “after the fact diversity” that we’re seeing around JR Rowling and the Harry Potter series is that she’s getting so much credit for doing basically nothing with regard to representation.
There’s no reissuing the books with covers where more characters are characters of color. There aren’t any additional chapters showing Albus Dumbledore as gay in any capacity (and seriously, the idea of a gay man pining nobly into old age after the one who got away is just an excuse to not have to address any of his relationships omfg).
JKR still wrote 99% of the Harry Potter cast as white and straight. She still didn’t describe the characters in a way that made them prominently POC or LGBTQ. Dumbledore is gay offscreen. You literally have to read between the lines to start to suspect that maybe he wasn’t straight. Blaise Zabini was revealed to be Black in book five and then we never learned anything about him or got to see him as a character.
Almost all of her diversity comes after the fact and I don’t think that she should be getting praise for any of it. Especially because fandom has done most of the work on diversity for her. Like… She didn’t think up Black Hermione. That wasn’t even in her mind until fandom’s headcanons and the sort of universal idea of the character being Black the entire time hit her airspace and then she swans in to be like “oh well, I never made Hermione white in canon so I’m cool with this”.
Okay.
Really?
And with this recent thing: JKR may have made Hermione’s race ambiguous (I guess) but that’s not a good thing. She still okayed illustrations in the books where Hermione is white and championed Emma Watson as the character. She still absolutely wrote the character while thinking that she wasn’t a character of color and that’s obvious as hell.
I get that before Harry Potter got huge, she may not have gotten to have control over the images of the characters she put out. But Pottermore? Fantastic Beasts? Things that came out after the HP series took the world by storm and that still are super white and super far from diverse?
She definitely has more clout now than she did before and people know that HP will sell bank. So she could be demanding more in-text diversity. But she’s not. Not until the text is completed.
Unlike most creators of things, JKR isn’t a jerk about racebending becoming canon in new versions of her canon (like Frank Miller ugh) but she still didn’t do any of the legwork. She still didn’t write a Black British Hermione dealing with racism on two fronts. She still didn’t sit down and on her own go “Hermione is Black”.
I started the Harry Potter series when I still lived in the Virgin Islands. Which was like 2000/01. Maybe. I did read Hermione as Black when I was very small because I told myself that she had hair like mine and loved to read like me so why shouldn’t she actually look like me. (This is a similar story to what many Black fans of Harry Potter say who read Hermione as Black, btw.)
But JKR didn’t do that. She didn’t give me representation and  she certainly didn’t intend for anyone to read Hermione as Black when she set out on the series.
Fans did that. Fans interpreted Hermione as black. They wrote meta. They did fan art. They did fan casts.
Not JKR.
And she’s just rolling along collecting praise for it like she’s ever written meaningful diversity into the Harry Potter series instead of totally transparent allegories for oppression.
I’m not going to get super excited for her being all “well I’m cool with racebending in canon and otherwise because I left Hermione’s race ambiguous” because that sort of ambiguity only hurts fans of color.
It’s not even close to positive representation and I think that JKR needs to chill and look at actually writing about characters of color and incorporating them and LGBTQ characters into her HP works rather than mentioning them after the fact and getting ally cookies for it.
I’m beyond pleased that Hermione will be Black in the upcoming play, but I don’t think that JKR really deserves much (or any) of the accolades she’s receiving for it or her tweet.

A Showcase of Diversity from Indie Science Fiction, Fantasy & Speculative Fiction Authors For Medieval POC’s Diverse Fiction Week
Sometimes it’s just nice to be represented on covers. I’ve found quite a few Indie Authors who’ve made an effort to ensure that people of color are represented in their stories and on their covers. Each of the following books are either the first in their series or standalones. Third Daughter by Susan Kaye Quinn: A steampunk trilogy set in an alternate east-Indian world. Blades Of Magic by Terah Edun: A high fantasy series with a sword-wielding protagonist who doesn’t wait to be saved. Justice Calling by Annie Bellet: A Native American sorceress in Idaho who’s an unabashed gamer nerd. Forever Mine by Elizabeth Reyes: A stunning contemporary romance with Latino protagonists. Fall of Sky City by S.M. Blooding: An adventurous steampunk series that sets sail on airships in an East Asian setting. Girl With Flying Weapons: An assassin-in-training stars in a cozy mystery set in 9th-Century China. The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw by Suzy Turner: Two adopted sisters work together to fight off supernatural evils in London. What Kills Me by Wynne Channing: An urban fantasy series with a sassy Asian vampire who finds herself the hunted prey of a legendary prophecy. The Queen Bee of Bridgeton by Leslie DuBois: A young ballerina transitions from living in a poor urban community when she wins a full-scholarship to a top-tier school. The Preacher’s Promise by Piper Huguley: A schoolteacher’s journey through the post-Civil War South in a harrowing effort to uplift her race.
