okay, so this week's rwby episode has me in SHAMBLES. i'm going to spoil it to hell and back so if you haven't seen it don't read. also be warned i wrote a lot because i am. unwell

WARNINGS FOR THE EPISODE:

suicide / encouragement of suicide, torture, animal death, physical and emotional abuse, blood

i'm basically just going to talk about neo and ruby here.

starting off with neo:

this episode kind of confirmed my suspicion that neo had been hallucinating roman's voice. and the fact that her semblance means she can actually see and physically touch him? that doesn't help.

once ruby was gone, she looked completely empty. she realized that now she's gotten what she wanted, there's nothing left to live for. she wanted revenge so badly, but she never thought about what she would do after. killing ruby didn't make her grief go away. it didn't bring roman back. all it did was leave her with this feeling of emptiness.

and when the cat possessed her?? he used her to speak. she had gone through so much just because she can't speak, and using her for that is an awful violation.

now for ruby (jesus christ this one's a LOT):

we know she didn't actually cause the deaths of the people at the tea party, but the reason they're there is because she blames herself for it. and good god am i glad that neo doesn't know about summer, because that wouldn't have ended well. at all. (i say as if it ended well anyways)

she tried to slash at ozpin. and rightfully so, she was fucking ANGRY at him, because he put the weight of the world on her shoulders when she was 15. and who does she "kill" instead? her friend, oscar. and the first time she's used crescent rose this whole volume, it "killed" someone. not a grimm. a person. i don't think she realized how deadly her weapon was until then.

i think little was meant to represent the last hope she had. and then, it was crushed in front of her eyes. because of her.

when she drank the tea, she thought she was killing herself. wether it's actually rebirth or death, it doesn't matter. and what actually fucked me over is that she looked yang in the eyes when she did it. she looked at her sister, who raised her, who sacrificed herself for her over and over again, and ended her life. all of yang's efforts were for nothing.
