The hypnosis of war | Zhongli x Childe drabble

The man walked slowly and the snow quietly creaked under his feet. His heart was beating faster and his breath was restless; it was disturbingly quiet here. He followed the blood stains on white. He was looking nervously for a very familiar posture with his eyes. He knew what to expect, but once he saw him, he stopped in half a step and held his breath. He saw him kneeling, leaning sideways against the tree trunk and bathed in blood. An unpleasant swish was leaving his mouth, with fast bursting breaths. He was shaking slightly, but his body was still full of tension, every muscle was ready to attack again at any time.

‘Childe.’ Zhongli spoke quietly.

The man's body reacted in one moment. He was sensitive to every sound. He turned violently. His eyes were full of rage. Zhongli took a step forward, and Childe's body was dangerously stretched.

‘It's me.’ He spoke slowly and gently, like to a wild animal. He was approaching in small, quiet steps, knowing that it was very risky at the moment. Tartaglia did not recognize him yet.

When the distance between them shortened to the length of arm, Childe moved suddenly. In an instant he injured Zhongli by sticking the blade deep into his shoulder. A golden-eyed man shouted. His knees bent underneath him, but immediately afterwards he bit his mouth and grabbed a cold hand, which was still clenching on the handle. With pain, he looked straight into empty blue eyes, and this sight was squeezing his heart. He grabbed the red, blood-stained hair in his other hand and forced Childe to bend over. He touched their foreheads and whispered quietly.

‘The fight is over. Please, wake up.’

They were stuck motionless in the snow, and the blood from the shoulder started to slowly soak into clothes. Time and again, Zhongli's warm lips met with Childe's cold forehead and cheeks. The man was slowly regaining himself until he fell helplessly.

‘I've hurt you again.’ he said in a greedy voice, and these words put on his shoulders the burden of guilt that he could not forgive himself.

Zhongli did not answer. He knelt before Childe and raised his head to put it on his knees. In silence, he began to comb the red hair with care.

Broken Promises

ZhongChi/ChiLi angst one-shot (zhongli’s banner)

Watching from a distance, the starry night hat of the astrologist flickered warily as she stared at the falling stars shining in front of her. Her eyes subconsciously counted the passing stones: 22, 25, 40, 53 and so on. As the numbers increased, the more anxious she felt.

Turning to the figure that sat a few feet from her, she pursed her lip and sighed, “They’re calling for you, you know?" 

The broad shoulders of the figure moved slightly, but no response was heard. Heaving a louder sigh from her chest, she stepped closer to him. 

"Zhongli-Laoshi, the wishes have reached 70,” she tried emphasizing the number in hopes to stir up alarm in the geo archon, but he was still as stone. 

“It’s not my time,” he responded softly, neither turning to look at the astronomer or lifting his head in the direction of the falling stars 

“Not your time?” She scoffed in disbelief, “If you haven’t noticed, your time is running out and access to the mortal world will become even more strained." 

"Since you seem very unsettled about this, Mona, perhaps you should answer their calls before they continue to waste their resources,” he whispered sternly. 

Taken back, Mona made her way to stand in front of the geo archon, heels clicking impatiently as she walked. Anger boiled in her veins, “If I go down there, do you expect them to forgive you for this? Do you expect him to forgive you?" 

Hearing "him” being mentioned, Zhongli lifted his eyes until it met hers and she was suddenly hit with a wave of guilt. Without another word, she sighed and nodded. 

“I don’t expect their forgiveness,” he said solemnly, “I brought this misfortune on myself and I intend to bear the consequences of my actions in exile." 

Mona nodded again in full understanding. If there was one thing she learned from the geo archon, it was that he never let’s a broken promise go unpunished. His contracts made up who he is as an archon. 

Feeling defeated, Mona made her way to the open sky that led to the mortal world. Turning her head to look at the Laoshi one last time, she caught a ride on an incoming star. Her presence transformed the blue shade into an illuminated golden hue and she made her way down to earth.

I absolutely adore @bgtea‘s Genshin Impact fic on AO3 and highly recommend giving it a read if you like ChiLi/Zhongchi or in-depth writing in general 🙏 I’m really bad at writing reviews where I don’t ramble when addressing each moment from each chapter that I love. But here’s my attempt to convey my feelings through a visual format  (this is just 1 out of so many scenes I loved) </3

oh speaking my of poly zhongmine. please consider: zhongli slowly getting accustomed to the modern world and its tradition from the both of you as you travel together. also zhongli starting to pick up sarcasm and dry humor from you and lumine as well until he’s cracking puns and jokes himself as he opens up more

Changes

Zhongli is… proper. Not to say there’s anything wrong with it.

He’s very proper, gentlemanly, and the like. He’s just really polite and professional.

You and Lumine are the oddballs. People often wonder how Zhongli was attracted to you two. It’s not meant as an insult, it’s a genuine question. You’re just not his type.

Well! That’s until Zhongli started acting like you two.

You see, you three travel together, going on all sorts of adventures and whatnot. Zhongli loves it, you love the money, and Lumine is still looking for Aether.

Well, over time, he’s picked up the dry humor. Zhongli will crack jokes and his sarcasm levels have risen too!

“AH! What is that?!” (Lumine)

“A mitachurl, can’t you see?”

“Oh my god!” (You)

“How dare you use my name in vain.”

“Hey Zhongli. Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” (you)

“No, it didn’t hurt when my corpse fell from the heavens.”

bakugou had always hated that, he thought, casting his gaze elsewhere in the room. he always hated how you cried when you were angry, red hot tears stinging a pathway down the apples of your usually glowing cheeks.

he couldn’t quite place the reasoning as to why. maybe it was because you rarely ever found yourself angry or perhaps it was how pathetic you looked when your bottom lip wobbled and your harsh words were laced with watery sobs.

or maybe it was because he didn’t want to feel sorry for you, didn’t want to comfort you when he was too prideful to admit that you were right. “whatever, don’t tell me what the fuck to do.” he spits, eyes and voice full of a venom he barely ever uses against you. he watches with a scarlet gaze as you falter, as if a knife has dug deep into your heart and cut you all up but bakugou only scoffs and continues to pack his side kick costume into the duffle bag he’s got on your shared bed.
