رضا الناس غاية لا تدرك

ورضا الله غاية لا تترك

فأدرك ما لا تترك و اترك ما لا تدرك

Pleasing people is a goal no one can achieve

and pleasing Allāh is a goal that one must not leave!

So achieve what can't be left, and leave what can't be achieved.

Salmaan al-Farisi رضي الله عنه said:

‎“If a man usually calls upon Allah in times of ease,

‎but then a calamity befalls him and he makes du'aa to Allah,

‎the angels say: “A known voice” (i.e. a voice that they recognize)

‎and so they intercede for him.

‎However, if he is not one who usually calls upon Allah in times of ease and a calamity befalls him and he makes du'aa to Allah,

‎the angels say: “An unknown voice”

‎and so they do not intercede for him.”

Ibn `Umar (ra) narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"Whoever focuses all his concerns on one issue, i.e., the Hereafter, Allah will suffice him and relieve him of the worries of this world, but whoever has disparate concerns, scattered among several worldly issues, Allah will not care in which of its valleys he is ruined."

هُوَ الَّذي أَنزَلَ السَّكينَةَ في قُلوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِين It is He who bestows tranquility into the hearts of the faithful

— Qur'ān 48:4

ʿAbd al-Raʿuf al-Manāwī رحمه الله said:

‎There is nothing that leads faster decay of the world and degeneration of people's conscience than injustice.

‎Because it does not stop at any point, nor does it conclude with an end.

The prophet ﷺ said,

سَلُوا اللهَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ

Ask Allah for beneficial knowledge and seek refuge in Allah from knowledge without benefit.

Hadith on Akhlaq: Obscenity, vulgarity, profanity not part of Islam

Jabir ibn Samurah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, obscenity and vulgarity are not part of Islam. Verily, the best people in Islam are those with the best character.”

If someone corrects their intentions regarding what they are seeking, Allah will bring them closer to what they desire

Aḥmad bin ḥarb رحمه الله said:

I worshipped Allāh for fifty years, yet I did not find the sweetness of it until I left off 3 things:

‎I left chasing the pleasure of people so I could speak the truth

I left the company of the sinners until I embraced the company of the righteous,

and I left pursuing the sweetness of the worldly life until I found the sweetness of the hereafter.

Don't be like the racer who wishes to memorise so he can be called a "carrier of the quran". Free yourself from this worldly title & do not rush the quran. Such a great goal deserves to be a companion for life. Don't rush without perfection, & don't recite without application.
