'Many Native Americans consider Thanksgiving a day of mourning. Here’s how they mark the day'
The annual National Day of Mourning aims to honor Indigenous ancestors and showcase Native American resilience while promoting the facts behind the Thanksgiving holiday.
When hundreds of people gather on Cole's Hill above Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts on Thursday, it will not be in celebration of Thanksgiving.
Members from numerous Indigenous communities as well as non-Natives will instead come together for the annual National Day of Mourning to mark the historical atrocities against Native Americans that often get lost in the traditional telling of Thanksgiving.
The live-streamed ceremony, which is organized by the United American Indians of New England, first started in 1970 with the goal of bringing awareness to the genocide of Native Americans and theft of their lands while aiming to promote the facts behind the Thanksgiving holiday. #NationalDayOfMourning #Thanksgiving #MisgivingDay #hoodreform #thestruggleisrealink

Love this!!
"A man and his wife traveled to the zoo.. They found a monkey that played passionately with his female.. His wife told him: "what a romance." Then they found a lion and his lioness separated from each other; the lion silent and alone in his corner as if the lioness did not exist.. His wife told him: "what a sad scene without love." Her husband then told her: "throw that stone at the lioness and watch." When she threw it down, the lion leaped roaring to defend his lioness...They saw the monkeys again and she did the same by throwing a stone; the monkey then jumped and abandoned his female to save his hide.. Her husband tells her later: "do not be fooled by what you see as romanticism in some, many times it is a deceptive appearance that hides an empty heart; there are others on the contrary who do not show anything, but their hearts are full of sincere love..”

Never kick a man when he's down give him the same respect you did when he was on top. Say what you want. Deontay went out like a warrior, on his shield and fought purely off heart for 7-8 rounds after R3/R4. There is no doubt in my mind he will bounce back.
A gut wrenching loss sure, but no all time great came without some adversity and losses in their lifetime.
All the respect for
Deontay Wilder, he is Proud of his heritage and I am So proud of his HEART, now back to the Lab Champ you got work to do...

“Booker T. Washington, educator, reformer and the most influentional black leader of his time (1856-1915) preached a philosophy of self-help, racial solidarity and accomodation. He urged blacks to accept discrimination for the time being and concentrate on elevating themselves through hard work and material prosperity.”

Whispers From a Caribbean Nation
Tumblr media
Toussaint L’ Ouverture, a former carriage driver and natural military genius led slaves of Haiti and the Dominican Republic in a rebellion against Napoleon of France at the end of the 1700s. Napoleon and his army suffered a stunning defeat. This was the only time in development of the Western world that white Europeans blinked and blacks seized their freedom. More than 60,000 blacks and whites perished in L’ Ouverture’s rebellion, creating Haiti as a republic of freed slaves.
Following Napoleon’s defeat, France sent troops to Haiti to negotiate a peace treaty. Although they had been militarily trounced, French treachery was still alive and well. French military officials, displaying the flag of truce, managed to lure L’ Ouverture to their Haitian headquarters, where they arrested him in 1802. He died in jail in the Alps in 1803. To stave off a chain reaction of black revolts in the United States, slaveholders tried in vain to keep the news of the Haitian revolt from the ears of black slaves. L’ Ouverture had made an impact. Reportedly, “Wherever slaves chafed under chains, this man’s name was whispered.”

Follow @alkalineherbshop The essential oil of eucalyptus is a popular addition to steam rooms and saunas due to its calming effect. You can recreate a spa-like environment in your own home by hanging eucalyptus in your shower. Steam activates and releases eucalyptus essential oil into the air, allowing you to inhale the lightly fragrant oil with beneficial effects. ⠀ One randomized controlled trial published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine showed that inhaling eucalyptus oil reduced anxiety levels in people awaiting surgery. Another trial found that inhaling eucalyptus oil was associated with decreased pain and better blood pressure in patients who had undergone knee replacement surgery. ⠀ Breathing in eucalyptus oil is also thought to ease respiratory conditions like bronchitis, sinus infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma. This appears to be due to a component in the oil called eucalyptol or 1,8-cineole, which reduces inflammation and controls mucus production. ⠀ Sources: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5687727/ www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3703330/ https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/266580 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4083598/ ⠀

Uncle Tom was a man who refused to beat black women. Uncle Tom was a man who refused to tell on other slaves. Uncle tom was a man who would put cotton in other slaves’ bags at night, so that they wouldn’t get beat! Uncle Tom was a man who helped 100 slaves get free long before the underground railroad. Uncle Tom was a man, that once free, established the 1st Laborers school for other fugitive slaves!
His name? Josiah Henson! Josiah Henson was an author, abolitionist, and minister. Born into slavery, in Port Tobacco, Charles County, Maryland, he escaped to Upper Canada in 1830, and founded a settlement and laborer’s school for other fugitive slaves at Dawn, near Dresden, in Kent County, Upper Canada, of British Canada.
So stop calling these sell-outs Uncle tom! That’s a compliment! Its Sambo that was the sell-out, who would do anything for his slave masters’ approval! By Cykelian Ross / Arius Ra NTR https://www.instagram.com/p/CSQGo-XHlA8kfaFnLbtEQmgCNhpHODLDJn3PDg0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Can someone tell me how we’re going to get rid of COVID-19 without wearing masks at a bare minimum? Jersey parents complaining about kids having to wear masks in school. Republicans complaining about New York mandate stating only vaccinated people can dine in restaurants, movie theaters, etc. So what’s the answer? I know…Let the unfortunate just die and the rest go on about their business. I read and posted some time back that Amerikkkans are so selfish they couldn’t care any less who dies! #thestruggleisrealink #hoodreform

BLACK AUGUST:
For many of us fighting the ravages of the prison industrial complex, George Jackson is a source of inspiration and discipline. Over forty years ago, George Jackson pleaded: Settle your quarrels, come together, understand the reality of our situation, understand that fascism is already here, that people are dying who could be saved, that generations more will die or live poor butchered half-lives if you fail to act. Do what must be done, discover your humanity and your love of Revolution. Pass on the torch. Join us, give your life for the people.  On August 21,1971, Jackson was assassinated by guards at San Quentin Prison during a prison rebellion.

The month of August bursts at the seams with histories of Black resistance–from the booming of John Africa's
MOVE organization being BOMBED ...
The Haitian Revolution to the Nat Turner Rebellion, from the Fugitive Slave Law Convention and the foundation of the Underground Railroad to the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, from the March on Washington to the Watts Uprising, from the births of Marcus Garvey, Russell Maroon Shoatz, and Fred Hampton to the deaths of W.E.B du Bois and George Jackson’s own younger brother Jonathan killed while attempting to free the Soledad Brothers from prison.  We celebrate Black August, commemorating the anniversary of George Jackson’s death while understanding his life as a revolutionary in a long and unbroken line of resistance and sacrifice of Black people throughout history.
Following CR ally and San Quentin Six veteran Sundiata Tate’s description of Black August as a time to “embrace the principles of unity, self-sacrifice, political education, physical training and resistance,” Critical Resistance’s work this August moves in that spirit.  We continue to join forces across California and in New Orleans to build a unified force to oppose the construction of new cages and the expansion of the numbers of people locked in cages.  We persist in advocating for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to meet the demands related to the 2011 hunger strikes throughout California’s prisons.  The latest issue of The Abolitionist extends CR’s education and communications efforts on both sides of prison walls with a new issue focused on surveillance.  Through our work with Stop the Injunctions Coalition we contribute to neighborhood spaces such as community gardens in which neighbors can work together to provide the resources they need to stay physically healthy and strong.
In all our work, resistance is the core.  We know that in order to eliminate the prison industrial complex our spirit of resistance must be continually regenerated and reinvigorated.  Through the combined effort by our members, donors, and allies Critical Resistance hopes to honor the legacy of George Jackson and the spirit of Black August all year long. #thestruggleisrealink #hoodreform
