Image Journal Week 16 Top Image: This is an image shot by Anne Belmont. It was taken at the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Rotunda and Memorial Hall. What I like about this image is how it appreciates the beauty of the design and pattern of the hall roof. I feel that the image captures the art and design of it really well.
Bottom Image: The image I took was inside the Chicago Cultural Center. Although it was hard to get the whole perspective of the roof itself, I managed to find a unique point of view that showed both the light hanging down and a part of the actual roof itself. I feel that the patterns and reflections of the material make this image attract the attention of my eyes really well.

Image Journal Week 15 Top Image: This is an image shot by Dany Eid. I like how it shows the scale of how big the buildings and towers are respectively. It was probably also taken from another high vantage point within the city. I admire how the photo illustrates the space available within a city that might seem really busy.
Bottom Image: I got the chance to go up the John Hancock building and take such nice city views. One of the photo that really stood out was the image taken at the side of the tower where we saw the lake Michigan directly. What is cool about this image is how the shadow of the tall buildings within the sideline casted its own silhouette onto the ground. It gives us the idea of how huge and tall these towers are compared within the whole city of Chicago.

Image Journal Week 14 Top Image: This is an image shot by Tom Hussey. The uniqueness of this image is how it is just a photo of a reflected view from a metal sculpture. It however distorts the view and creates a cool looking image. I feel like it captures the view within the metal sculpture in a very interesting way.
Bottom Image: My attempt to mimic this image was taken right under the Beam sculpture. My image even looked more distorted and so it was very effective. I like how it doesn't look like a proper image but that when you carefully look at it, you can image and slowly think of how the image actually looks like.

Image Journal Week 13 Top Image: This is an image shot by Riccardo Montero. It is a long exposure photography of New York city at night time. I really like how long exposure photography makes the light glow in lines and shapes where the light source is. Long exposure photography is one of my favorite image categories I love to look at because it highlights all of the roads and areas of a city.
Bottom Image: My attempt at taking a long exposure photography was done by using an iPhone application that enabled me to manually control the settings. This was taking at the Willis tower in Chicago during my Thanks giving break. I also used light room to edit and remove the noise while defining the highlights of this image. I was actually really impressed with the results of this photo.

Image Journal Week 12 Top Image: This is an image shot by David Freeman. I really like how this image was taken purely based on the concept of “Light vs. Dark”. The source of light that comes only from the small square windowed space gives the image a sense of direction on how we know that the whole image isn't illuminated well but that some parts are well exposed.
Bottom Image: My image shot right in front of the entrance to the C4C building at night time also created a similar effect. The only light source in this image was from the 4 light lamps. The light that was able to reach the ground and the surface around created a shape and a gradient like lighting. Although I used an Iphone to shoot this image, the black & white dynamic range and tones is well shown in this image

Image Journal Week 11 Top Image: This is an image shot by Odette Baudouin. Fall photography is a type of photography that I enjoy to look at because of the colors it produces. Normally you only see green in a place with many trees but fall gives this exception. The light that passes through the top of the tree lines gives the image a very nice and calming look.
Bottom Image: The actual image that was taken didn't actually have such a bright orange color. It was actually yellow. I was able to use Adobe Light room to play around with the colors so that they would match with the image above. I believe that it really mimics the top image but that it was taken in the university campus. I really like how the image colors came out very similar to the top one.

Image Journal Week 10 Top Image: This is an image shot by Francois Roux. I really like it when it comes to architecture photography in black and white. It makes the image more noticeable because of how the highlights and the shadows are well defined. This gives the shape and the edges of the architectural building a stronger visual.
Bottom Image: The engineering center building has a really cool and distinct look when compared to all of the other buildings within the campus. A friend once told me that they were trying to mimic the flat iron mountains. Processing the image so that it is in black and white really defines the shape of the building for me because there are no colors to distract our eyes from. It helps me visualize the contrast between each edge and lines within the photograph.

Image Journal Week 9
Top Image: This is an image shot by Dom J. The image gives a thought on the topic of man made vs. nature. It can be seen that the plants are covering the brick wall. Not only is there a contrast within the meaning, there is also a contrast within the red brick color and the green plant. I also like how the plants are reflecting the light and casting a shadow against the brick wall.
Bottom Image: I purposely looked for a brick wall with some sort of plant that would have a nice contrast to the wall itself. Although it is not a green plant that is hanging on the wall, it was planted in front and so I had to take a shot at my ground level in order to get the brick wall to be apart of my image. The composition of having a wall as the background for the plant makes it look subtle and delicate for the plants.

Image Journal Week 8: Top Image: I got this photo from “ShutterStock” although I believe the person named Dan is the one who uploaded it. Although sometimes I only often see people take selfies or nice portrait photos, taking pictures of animals are also something that interests me. Taking photos of when animals are in the action of something gives a different thinking in how it is not another photo of a person, but rather something from nature itself.
Bottom Image: The photo that I took was when I walked pass near the UMC building. I saw that the squirrel was in the action of eating a nut right at the entrance steps. All of the people that walked pass by didn't really care and so I was the only one standing there to take a photo. I enjoy seeing squirrels around the campus and so I was very delighted to actually getting to take a shot of one that is sitting and eating something at such a close range and not running away.

Image Journal Week 7 Top Image: This is an image shot by photographer Andy Mcnee. The focus of this shot was only to show the sky and cloud. It has such a nice color tone ranging from yellow to purple in the sky itself. The other stuff within the image are blacked out and so it makes the contrast of the land and the sky look very clean.
Bottom Image: On my way to the Rec center, The evening sky was brightly shining with a lot of cloud formation. The image also had a color tone and range of yellow and orange. I edited this image in light room so that the other buildings and road are blacken out so that the focus is within the sky only. The light rays within this picture that comes out of the clouds also made this photo have a really cool composition.

Image Journal Week 6 Top Image: This is an image shot by photographer Aremid. The photograph is edited so that it is highly saturated. This can be seen on how the flower petals are bright orange in which creates a distinct look to it. Although it may not look realistic, the colors that are brought out look interesting due to the intensity
Bottom Image: I tried to mimic the image by also taking a photo of a tree which was already turning orange. Although it is not a close of zoom of a flower, it is still a natural tree. I pulled out the saturation level to a 100 in Adobe Lightroom and so it produced these intense blue, green and orange look. I like how the colors contrast each other and so it really makes the image pop out.

Image Journal Week 5 Top Image: This is an image shot by photographer Tomas van Houtryve. This is an aerial photography shot by flying a drone on top of the Amazon fulfillment center in New Jersey. Taking photos from a vantage points allow has allowed this image to show another perspective of the parking lot and the scale of things. I really like how the cars and the roads run through with each other in the image.
Bottom Image: I recently just got myself a drone too and so I got the chance to fly it up behind the Bear Creek Apartments and take a shot in the air. I captured the tennis courts along with the cars parked on the parking lot because it looked interesting in the size and scale of the area in Williams Village. I really like aerial photography as it allows us to open up new perspectives that are hard to usually get but unique. Now that I have a drone to get me high up in the sky, it should be more accessible.

Image Journal Week 4 Top Image: This is an image shot by photographer Don Pash. I really appreciate how this image was shot in a slow shutter speed which made the water have this nice feeling of flow along with the rocks and moss. The image truly shows no signs of human encroachment as it is only filled with nature.
Bottom Image: My weekend trip to Hanging lake got me this wonderful shot. The image represents the natural being of this lake because of how it is filled with green trees. Although I wasn’t able to control the shutter speed so that the water looks really smooth, the still water within the lake created another feeling of peace and serenity.

Image Journal Week 3 Top Image: This is an image shot by Stephen Candler. I personally really like night light photography because of how it enables us to see where the light actually reaches and reflects on objects. This image was shot in a very small alley with the only source of light coming from the lamp lights along the dark alley. The texture of the wall and the floor creates this nice glow of the light.
Bottom Image: This image that I took while walking pass the university museum was a perfect chance for a night photography shot. It was really like the image shot by Stephen Candler because of how the only light source was from the street lamps. The stone walls also reflects the light, giving it a nice glowing effect.

Image Journal Week 2 Top Image: This is an image shot by Kim Brebach. This is a wide angle shot photo and so it is able to give a very stretched out perspective. I liked how there are many subjects within the image whether it is the large tree, the white structure and the people sitting on the left of the image. I feel that having many interest points within an image can give a visual balance within the image itself.
Bottom Image: Although I do not have a wide angle lens, I attempted to shoot an image out in an wide area that included a lot of open space. The image gives a sense of how big the place is because there is a whole building on the left side while at the same time there is a very large open field on the right side. The open sky also gives this image a sense of space. The tone of the image also gives this warm summer feeling to the overall of the image

Image Journal Week 1 Top Image: This is an image shot by Rob Cartwright. I really liked how the photo was taken from a perspective that looked up towards the building. Because of this, the image was able to capture the clouds within the sky. This image really illustrated a gloomy atmosphere.
Bottom Image: I attempted to mimic the use of the sky with clouds to accompany the Bear Creek Apartment buildings. I shot this from the fifth floor of the opposite building and so it didn't have the same perspective that looked up. However, I was able to color grade the image so that it was more grey and that it portrayed a similar atmosphere as the image shot by Rob Cartwright.
