Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk has been sued by a shareholder who accused him of violating his 2018 settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission over his Twitter use. Hackers breached the video surveillance services company Verkada on Monday, Bloomberg reporterd, gaining access to a “Super Admin” account that let them see more than 150,000 live feeds as well as video archives from Verkada’s customers. Exposed organizations included jails, schools, and hospitals—like the Madison County Jail in Huntsville, Alabama and Sandy Hook Elementary School—as well as tech companies like Tesla and Cloudflare. More than 100 Verkada employees had access to thousands of customers' streams—an additional surprising and likely disturbing revelation for the clients' customers. YouTube has taken down more than 30,000 videos containing misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine since October, a company spokesperson told The Hill Thursday. The videos “included claims about COVID-19 vaccinations that contradict local health authorities or the World Health Organization,” Elena Hernandez said in a statement. The platform has taken down 800,000 videos for general COVID-19 misinformation since February of last year. YouTube has taken down channels connected to five TV stations run by Myanmar's military (Tatmadaw) in the wake of further violence in the country. The service told the New York Times it removed the channels for breaking its community guidelines but it didn't explain the decision any further. Among the removed channels were ones for Myanmar Radio and Television and Myawaddy Media, which air news, sports and Tatmadaw propaganda. Dozens of peaceful protestors were killed this week during demonstrations against last month's coup. Protesters have organized rallies online and shared footage of violence carried out by the military and police. WhatsApp is reportedly working to increase the security of its cloud backups with a new password protection feature that’ll encrypt chat backups, making them accessible only to the user. WABetaInfo reported on the work-in-progress feature last year, and today it shared screenshots of how it could be presented in the service’s iOS and Android apps. “To prevent unauthorized access to your iCloud Drive backup, you can set a password that will be used to encrypt future backups,” one of the screenshots reads. “This password will be required when you restore from the backup.” The app then asks the user to confirm their phone number, and select a password that’s at least eight characters long. The European Banking Authority's email servers have been compromised in a global Microsoft Exchange cyber-attack. The EU body said personal data may have been accessed from its servers. And it had pulled its entire email system offline while it assessed the damage. "The EBA is working to identify what, if any, data was accessed," it said. Microsoft Exchange servers are widely used for email by major businesses and governments. But few organisations have yet admitted being hit by the attack. Initial estimates suggested some 30,000 US organisations may have been affected. Twitter has begun to test its new ecommerce tweet layouts, with at least one user of the Android app in Qatar spotting the new card format. As spotted by TechCrunch, UK-based social media consultant Matt Navarra highlighted the change, sharing images credited to Yasser Masood that contrast the simpler existing "link" sharing card with the upgraded shopping card.
