personally I don't think if you're a kid you should be using your real name on the internet. very easy for people to find out too much about you. instead you should spend years using a different made-up name that becomes part of your persona to an arguably even greater degree than your actual name and then when you grow up and find out you're trans you have a ready-made name to switch to even if it's probably like Leaf or something

you used to be able to play games on cartoonnetwork.com . . . now every company's website wants to give you spyware and spread corporate propaganda but I REMEMBER when you could play a BEN 10 adventure game in-browser without so much as giving away your e-mail. people's heads should be on pikes for this

Ok so… why is 75% of the “medieval romance” (if it’s not mislabeled Regency era historical romance) on Amazon just fantasy never-really-existed faux-medieval Scotland? And another 20% is also not medieval but clearly based on the damn Tudors?
I’m not asking why this is a genre, I too read some of the Diana Gabaldon books as a teenager, I understand everyone is trying to catch that lightning in a bottle too. And I know historical romance set in Tudor times based in real people is a booming genre because of Philippa Fucking Gregory.
I’m asking why I have found so few authors who write medieval romance that feels like it takes place in a feudal society prior to the Renaissance?
I just want to read about hot knights and lusty ladies! Not… Tudor-style court politics and early modern conceptions of the centralized nation-state and absolute monarchy and supposedly medieval Scotsmen with clan tartans and conceptions of government that they absolutely did not have before the 17th century. Oh and sexual politics that are decidedly Victorian. Ugh.
(I do in fact enjoy historical romance set in the Victorian era. I highly recommend Courtney Milan for good 19th century romance that you can tell was well-researched.)

As part of her social media detox this girl on YouTube made herself do one hour of understimulating tasks every day and she just counted rice for 60 minutes straight because its no different from doomscrolling in terms of wasted time

remember kids, the moral of "Irish and Italians weren't even considered White yet!" isn't "because in those times people were so ignorant they didn't think the Irish were white". the moral is "because white is an unreal category created to justify slavery and ongoing hoarding of power and wealth". It's not that you know better about Italians. It's that the boundaries of the higher caste have changed.

"Do you ever dream of land?" The whale asks the tuna.
"No." Says the tuna, "Do you?"
"I have never seen it." Says the whale, "but deep in my body, I remember it."
"Why do you care," says the tuna, "if you will never see it."
"There are bones in my body built to walk through the forests and the mountains." Says the whale.
"They will disappear." Says the tuna, "one day, your body will forget the forests and the mountains."
"Maybe I don't want to forget," Says the whale, "The forests were once my home."
"I have seen the forests." Whispers the salmon, almost to itself.
"Tell me what you have seen," says the whale.
"The forests spawned me." Says the salmon. "They sent me to the ocean to grow. When I am fat with the bounty of the ocean, I will bring it home."
"Why would the forests seek the bounty of the oceans?" Asks the whale. "They have bounty of their own."
"You forget," says the salmon, "That the oceans were once their home."

So...apparently Elon was fucking with the grok AI to try to get it to talk about "white genocide" in Africa.
Now it just starts randomly bringing it up out of nowhere unprompted, but STILL not siding with Musk.
Tumblr media
He bragged about making the smartest AI, and now he can't stand that it constantly calls out his bullshit.

i think you can recognize that the usage of ai by students of all grades and all around the world to cheat through their assignments is not a personal moral failing but just yet another symptom of the mechanistic if not, at this point, basically dehumanized processes of our education systems which are nowadays almost solely focused on demanding production from students and churning out degrees required for jobs while ignoring any tangible verification of their actual knowledge, intellectual development and critical thinking skills, much less their mental health, while also pointing out that using ai to write your essay isn't a power move to cheat a flawed system, it is behaving exactly as the system designed, it is cheating yourself by giving up your ability to speak, think for and challenge yourself and bowing your head to powers who will only benefit from not being questioned, and the only reason text genai is so widespread right now is because it was born on the perfect breeding ground that is anti intellectualism
