I Hate to be the Bearer of bad News

But you CANNOT steal;

1. SpecificTraits/Trait Combinations (ie. Bunny ears and six feet, or a goo theme). You don’t fucking own traits.

2. Color Palettes (ie. Red white and black, teal and gold, or rainbow). This includes color picking. You don’t fucking own colors.

3. Parts of a Style (ie. Big round eyes or noodle limbs) You Don’t Fucking Own Traits

4. Angles and Poses (I mean really guys, do I have to keep giving examples? This stuff should be obvious.) YOU DON’T FUCKING OWN POSES.

5. Ideas. Sorry to tell you guys, but absolutely nothing in the world is original! NOTHING!

You CAN “steal”

1. People’s art. Don’t be that asshole. This applies to art, adopts, bases, etc. If you didn’t draw it then don’t take it.

2. People’s Designs. If you copy or heavily reference someone’s design (ie. Copying the design but changing a couple accessories). Inspiration is one thing, but this is just lazy. There’s a fine line, but it’s there.

3. People’s art Indirectly. Don’t trace and post as your own work. Don’t recolor and post as your own work. Don’t be that asshole. Tracing is acceptable only as practice to get a feel for things, and shouldn’t be posted– or posted with the direct permission of the original artists with a statement saying that it has been traced for practice.

Don’t be the asshole that steals. Don’t be the self absorbed asshole that thinks everyone is stealing from you. Nothing is original. Get over it, pull that stick out of your ass, and have some fun.

Some tumblr tips for artists

• only the first five tags are serchable so make um count.

•Some of the most popular art related tags are #art, #illustration, #design, and #artists on tumblr.

• If you put a link in your post it won’t appear in serch results

• The best time to post seems to be from around 8pm to midnight east coast time

• socialize with other artists. Comments and asks are appreciated by a lot of us, and being friendly will encourage others to check out your stuff

tumblr mirrors on ‘photosugar’

So idk if others have noticed this before - but it’s the first time I’m seeing this, hence the post.

There’s a website, https://www.photosugar.com, which apparently mirrors all pictures, gifsets etc. people post on their tumblrs (and also other social media sites like twitter and instagram, if I understand it correctly). An example for a tumblr user, with my name: https://www.photosugar.com/tu/lordhellebore

Now it won‘t turn up anything but a 404 error in my case, because I sent an e-mail to the contact address, which is darius@photosugar.com with the title “My content on your website”:

Hello, it’s come to my attention that you are mirroring all of the posts containing pictures/gifs that I post on my tumblr. I am asking you to stop pulling the content from my tumblr and to delete me from your website. tumblr username is „lordhellebore“ Thank you.

I got a reply consisting of the single word “removed” after just one day, and as you can see, it worked perfectly fine with the informal mail I sent. So if you want them to stop mirroring your tumblr, it seems all you really need to do is this.  

I can’t test the site for all of my mutuals, but I’m tagging a few whom I found on there by random trial & error, and I suggest you look yourself up if you see this post and dislike tumblr mirrors (even if this one is only for pictures, not text).

So since 2 days ago Amazon.com will no longer ship to Australia thanks to our govt messing with our GST. But its okay! Amazon AU is there for us to use, where they sell the same choker for more than 10 times the price! :DD As if the games tariff wasn’t BAD ENOUGH. Why? Because our govt wanted “TO PROTECT AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSES.” What about Ebay? Or people that can’t go out to retailers to buy clothes? Or exclusive books?  But NOPE. They neeeeed their tax money from big corporates overseas, not from our own fatcats. Thanks Mr Turnbull.

     Equivalent Exchange is a collaborative FMA Tarot deck where artists will be assigned 1 tarot card each with a full explanation of the card given to them upon their assignment. Knowledge of Tarot is not necessary to apply, but it is appreciated.      Each card assignment contains a concept character or imagery, as well as a detailed explanation of the traditional interpretation of the card. These will serve as your prompts for your piece.      We will have 3 submission deadlines and each one will be subject to note/critique. Extensions and missed deadlines will not be allowed for the most part. Please make sure to review the projected deadlines before applying.

     This is a charity project. The charity will be the Jordan Thomas Foundation. Don’t you dare tell trauma survivors they are overreacting for getting triggered by something that reminds them of their trauma even if you think it’s something stupid to be getting in a state over. Traumatic events can be tied to all sorts of triggers so don’t be an unsympathetic asshole.
