Given that Ra was the literal sun, trying to talk with him was like staring up at the eye of sauron as it looked down at you in all it’s terrible glory. It’s voice boomed, seeming to resonate inside of the mortal, given that apparently Ra hadn’t figured out that talking like a giant extra-dimensional being of nigh infinite power wasn’t good for normal conversation. 

“What battles are there to pick? If one runs away or does nothing in the face of evil, do they not also condone that evil by extension?”

   He had put one god to sleep, with the help of his friends, so many years ago, and befriended another as the quiet protectorate of Inaba. This sun was imposing – it was only for the help of his glasses that allowed him to even regard the god’s form. Simplicity would suit Charlie the best, here, but he needed to be careful. His deal with Igor, so long ago, was stumbled into – it was only due to the Velvet Room keeper’s benevolence that he did not come to a foul end. Overwhelming power was power easily abused. He was here to advance his own ends, not those of Ra’s.

   “You have seen the sum of my worth, and I don’t presume to talk down to you. I will pursue the truth at all costs, whether I can flourish under the shine of the sun or must trudge through the grime of the underworld. If you believe that my cause is worthy, then so be it.” 

   “If you do not, so be it.”

“You are wiser than I believed, mortal.” The sun’s imposing aura seemed to lessen, becoming less like the scorching desert sun and more like the pleasant sun on a good day. Though it was still everywhere, it just didn’t feel like it might burn his skin off at any moment. 

“When I helped create the universe, we did so in the name of truth and order. Without truth, there is no order. Without order, there is no creation. When I crafted humans from my tears and sweat, I did so that you would be orderly, that you would create habits and patterns so that you might constantly reinforce the order of the universe, so that it would not simply fall back into the chaotic waters from whence we pulled it.” 

“Truth is what allows the world to exist. Truth is what allows humans to live in peace. Truth is what allows creation to exist at all. Such is the way we created the world. Lies are what spawns the shadows, the forces of chaos under Apep. His demons, his lies, threaten all worlds.”

“I am Ra.” Not that she needed the introduction, given that his mere presence was like being under a gigantic spotlight, like the sun was some kind of giant eye of sauron and it was focused right on you in all it’s terrible and wonderous glory. Ra, creator of mankind, ruler of the gods, god of the sun and order, he who created himself, wasn’t exactly good at not seeming intimidating. For he was the sun, conveying power and authority with his mere presence. It just so happened that his presence was trained on her at the moment. 

“What brings the lady of limbo to my realm?” Right to the chase apparently. Whether she was or was no currently the lord of anything was irrelevant; gods took the long view, and the entire lives of mortals might as well be an instant to them. So the time between her being in charge of the realm and her not being in charge of it was probably a fraction of a fraction of an instant for a god.

“And why, mortal, should I bestow power upon you?” He knew of this boy, this human who asked for the powers of the gods. He knew of a few other divinities, and lesser creatures, that had felt inclined to share power with him, for one reason or another. Ra himself had shared his power with other mortals in the past; interfering in the squabbles of the Japanese divinities over their own realities was an amusing past time for many. 

But Ra was not one used to being asked for power. His mere form was like being under a gigantic eye, like the sun itself was staring directly at you, in all its glorious and terrifying majesty. For Ra was the sun, the creator of humanity, a being of nigh infinite power, who created himself in the beginning rather than being created by another. He was also stubborn and prideful, and if a human was to bear his power, he was going to ensure that they earned it first. 

“I have seen much of what you have done. Seen many foes, many shadows bested by you. Yet do you believe that is enough?” Admittedly, shadows were Ra’s enemy, creations of Apep, the god of chaos and darkness, the giant serpent that Ra had faced since the dawn of creation. Not that the boy would likely know about that; but then, the gods used each other’s squabbles to fight via proxy. Apep undoubtedly gave shadows to the boy’s enemies, and it was tempting to support for that alone...

But he had to at least attempt to seem like he was making the boy work for it.

Maybe the fact he didn’t know was for the best. After all, hints of this guys influence could be spotted all around him. Through Ryuji’s eyes it looked like a form of luxury cranked up by a hundred! The scenery wouldn’t be given much attention for the time being, not when this mysterious figure already brought up that mention of other realities being on the playing field. The reminder of that element had caused his eyes to snap wide, hand quickly shifting through his pocket in order to reel out his phone.

’Damn it! Y’mean to tell me that this thing can go and haywire too!? Cause this sure as heck didn’t happen before!’ He thought as that since of urgency bit at him. The headlines could already be pictured ‘Local delinquent boy lost to the dimensions, never before seen or heard!’ And that would be the last damn way he wanted to go out! “I do..” He openly admits, no denying this fact in the least. Finally was his attention properly set on Ra.

“And believe me when I say unexpected crash parties are my thing either! But uh.. Would it be too much to ask for ya to fill me in here? You wouldn’t happen to be a Persona too, would you?”

The god gave a bemused chuckle at the mortal’s question; at least he wouldn’t need to fill him in too much. Such things were beneath a being of his power. “You speak as though you understand the full capabilities of the forces you are playing with. Know that for all you learn in your life, it is but a fraction of the truth. As for your inquiry, I have taken such a form before; there are times when I have felt it worthwhile or amusing to share my power with a mortal.” That they called them ‘persona’ now was of no consequence for the god; the name was what one called it. But gods happily bestowed powers on mortals when it suited them.

But what was important right now was the man before him with the letter on his chest. ��You seek answers.” No doubt due to some magical problem. Humans were right to use Egyptian magic, the most powerful of all magics if he was asked.
