Client: Youngsta CPT
Project: Top Ten List (Official Music Video)
Release Date: Friday 13 May 2016
Warning: Rated 18VL
Our latest music video is for Cape Town’s biggest rapper, Youngsta CPT, for his song ‘Top Ten List’. The video is a bold,18VL-rated move for the artist as he takes on the music and media industry and questions why the city of Cape Town isn’t represented on the national stage.
The video is a concept by Youngsta to pay tribute to his favourite horror movie franchise Friday The 13th - hence the decision to drop the video on Friday The 13th!
The video is directed by TAKEZITO who collaborated with Youngsta to see his vision coming together in this visual treatment. TAKEZITO felt the message was an important one for the city of Cape Town & enjoyed the process of referencing a cult horror film in a different context.
What do you think: will this be the year that Cape Town features on the national lists of best rappers and musicians? Will Youngsta lead a charge into the local hip hop game which is currently dominating the local music scene?

Client: Between 10 and 5
Project: Young South Africa 2015
Release Date: 16 June 2015
We were asked by leading local creative showcase, Between 10 and 5, to co-produce this year’s #YoungSouthAfrica video. 10 and 5 had curated 6 thought-leaders - Lazi Mathebula, Pola Maneli, Rendani Nemakhavani, Andiswa Mkosi, Thandiwe Tshabalala and Dillion Phiri - and by capturing their thoughts on the current state of the nation, we set about capturing the zeitgeist of our generation.
Director Takezito explains his approach, “#RhodesMustFall and the vocal youth movement around it is an icon of our current zeitgeist. We see the youth questioning the place of our colonial heritage within our independence. Statues are being torn down, but this begs the question: what will we replace them with?
Young South African creatives are filling this void by redefining our identity through interrogating our past and heritage and bringing it new relevance. In the video statues and cityscapes are used to symbolise our colonial past, and colourful animated overlays represent the fresh ideas being born out of this generation of ‘creative warriors’. The transformative energy is contained within their presence.
We are the DIY generation, and thus we chose a punk aesthetic throughout the video; a raw, unpolished style to mimic the birth of the ‘new South African identity’, which is arguably being created in front of our eyes by today’s contemporary artists and creatives – dubbed in the documentary as ‘The Catalyst’.”

Client: Eduvator
Project: Three Sisters Educare Fundraising Project
Release Date: 16 June 2015
Eduvator is a social enterprise that aims to improve South African school infrastructure using crowd-funding and a can-do attitude. Through crowd-funding Eduvator empowers citizens to make a direct and meaningful impact on the education problem in South Africa.
In our promo video co-directed & shot by Takezito & Chris Kets, we feature a young rapper called Jay Makopo to help motivate citizens to get involved in this youth-run social campaign.
The first project aims to raise R500,000 for Three Sisters Educare to help them build a new classroom block, which will enable them to get registered with the government in order to receive support.
It may sound like a lot of money but it’s really not. If 5000 people donate R100 each, we’ll reach our goal. We believe this is possible – please prove us right! Become one of the 5000 people who will show the world that there is hope, that we care and that when we come together we can make a difference.
