The power of coincidence
I am not sure if I believe in coincidences or not. They’re kind of like horoscopes for me. I believe them when they say something I am happy to hear, otherwise they are a generalisation of any given circumstance we are able to relate to ourselves and our personal life experiences.
I mention this now as I am currently erring towards the latter option. Since arriving in Paris I have experienced a series of rather interesting coincidences. People, places, smells and sights all appear to be joining forces to potentially create a mass moment of clarity. I say potentially as it is my role now to be ‘open’ to the signs and interpret them correctly. I don’t mean to say that there is one purpose in life and should I misinterpret the signs then ‘poof’ my chance is gone! Rather that these are merely here as road maps when I get a little lost. The choice always being mine. Anyway, this is where I am right now so I have decided to recommence my journey of discovery with Julia Cameron’s ‘The Artists Way’. Originally I started this in 2010 but evidently I was not ready at that point in time for a bit of self-discovery. 2015 however, is a whole other story.
A friend of mine recently told me that my research and commentary of everyday life is all for a reason. That people lose sight of those small, seemingly insignificant, aspects of everyday life. Those very same aspects which actually make life great. It is my job, according to my friend, to remind people of these little joys for as long as I can, I think that’s a pretty good start.

The Great Coffee Search...
So, today I had my first flat white in Paris- what an absolute treat that was! Those of you who know me will know that I am a sucker for a cute cafe and a cup of the good stuff! Up until now I have had to settle for the rather acrid espresso shots and have been suffering serious withdrawals. The French excel in a lot of things but the creation of a good coffee is not one of them… at least until now. So where did I find my salvation I hear you ask? Well, a stones throw from Pigalle Metro down Rue des Martrys (what I later found to be a gastronomic delight in itself) you will happen upon a seeminly nameless joint. Fashionably perched on the corner of Rue Trudaine, quaint Parisian balconies overlooking a leafy green sqaure to the right and a towerning view of the tip of the Sacre Coeur directly ahead; here sits KB Cafe in all it’s welcoming and unpretentious glory.
A haven for bean enthusiasts and the growing coffee shop worker masses alike, this mall but perfectly equipped hangout is a must. A delicious counter display of healthy goodies, towering sandwiched and of course, the obligatory cake to satisfy any sweet tooth. I managed to resist on this occasion but was quite taken by the brunch menu which I will most definitely be sampling in the near future!
the impressive array of tools and utensils instantly met my eye and encouraged a nod of confidence. These guys are professionals. Scientists of their trade encouraging support for local manufacturers as well as those tried and tested favourites. Big thumbs up from me- I am still jittering from the brew. Thanks Team KB!

Marais- cobbles and boutiques ❤
Ah Paris! You are a wonder. I am no stranger to the Parisien charm by my previous experience was nevertheless incomplete. Whilst a three-day city package deal is a wonderful thing I can’t help but feel that my enjoyment was impaired by my lack of knowledge, lack of the time and sub-zero temperatures which I failed to acknowledge when packing! This time around things are different. I am finding it a tad difficult accepting the fact that I am not quite a tourist. 7 weeks surely qualifies me for some kind of ‘local’ status? Right?! Having been unsuccessful in letting go of my traveller instincts we have spent the last 3 days circumnavigation the city. Largely in search of the perfect coffee! Much to my delight, today I have explored the beautiful district of Le Marais and it is by far my favourite so far. Winding, cobbled streets littered with a plethora of gastronomic delights, inspired boutiques and an overwhelming sense of Parisian exuberance, Marais is a real treat. I, of course, missed this experience during my first visit (possibly replaced by a frost-bite inducing open too bus tour) but I must say, I am pleased that uses did as nothing quite compares with Paris in the springtime. #paris #paris life #springtime #marais #cute #lepicnique #parisplacestogo #j'adore ❤❤

La dolce fa niente
... the sweetness of doing and my new life moto for as long as it can last! I first heard the phrase in the novel 'Eat, Pray, Love' and it has stuck with me ever since. The sweetness of doing nothing. What does that even mean? Well, it has taken some time but I have come to the conclusion that it means just that. To do nothing but savour the sweetness of life- the distractions of every day life need to be put to one side with total dedication to living and loving the moment.
Job quit, bills paid, house packed and Jonathan's hand firmly in mine that, my friends, is how my adventure begins.
First Stop, Paris. The city of light and love- I could think of no better place to pursue my love of nothingness. No plans, no agendas but one- to follow the feeling. If it feels right- do it. Reckless- no, driven- yes, lucky- definitely! Research and planning need not apply for this is an adventure of the soul. My soul. I am very much looking forward to learning all about her.
