white people, whether they're european/australian/whatever or even latin american, have almost completely ruined discussions about american imperialism here. and that's because they're obviously the least affected by it. when white people complain about usacentrism it's because, like every white person everywhere, they hate when things aren't about them; it's not because their community's struggles are being excluded, it's because they as an individual grew up feeling like the protagonist of the story and now that they're online, they realize that's not true and get butthurt and start using self-victimizing, oppression olympics language to get around it without sounding stupid (and failing). when they target black americans, it's not because they think black americans "benefit from imperialism" or whatever the fuck, it's because they hate black people in general and hate when they are the centerpiece of discussions. black people from outside america are regularly silenced when we rightfully point out black americans aren't and never will be our enemies and in fact share many of our struggles. and often the same goes for brown latin americans and asians ofc. it's not really about imperialism at all in this case, it's about using progressive language to escape accountability.
