Defy Gravity!!

The Sipatan Hanging Bridge is a fun tourist attraction. it is located some 36 kilometers from Tagbilaran City, between Sitio Sipatan of Barangay Ewon and Sitio Ilawod of Barangay Lobgob in the panoramic inland town of Sevilla.

Originally, the hanging bridge was made by just using a bamboo and rope. the old bridge was destroyed during the Typhoon Seniang last December 28, 2014 when the river overflowed and reached the bridge.

Today, the newly constructed hanging bridge is made of steel cables reinforcing the safety and stability of the structure. The deck of the bridge is formed out of woven bamboo slats.

The bridge is about 40 meters long. Before, it was just one bridge. Now, the owners made it into two. This is to reduce the traffic in the bridge, especially if there’s a lot of domestic and foreign tourists who wants to experience the thrill in crossing the bridge. Nobody really expected it to become a fun tourist attraction.

When you step onto the bridge, you will experience some side to side sway and up and down bounce. It is quite scary especially when you look down and see the river below.

So, what are you waiting for? Set out on foot, on a hanging bridge to the rustic inland town of Sevilla or drift away as you float on a bamboo raft on the emerald green river. Come, enjoy, experience the thrill and defy gravity.

Right after the Holy Mass, I got the chance to took this spectacular view of our church.

I feel blessed that our church is one of those churches that were not greatly affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last 2013.

What’s unique in our church is that, the bell tower is located in the center and there’s a bridge connecting the church and the convent. I’ve never been so awed by the beauty of our church. Viva Sta. Monica! ⛪
