a (growing) List of Water Deities
Tumblr media
A water deity is a deity in mythology associated with water or various bodies of water. Water deities are common in mythology and were usually more important among civilizations in which the sea or ocean, or a great river was more important. Another important focus of worship of water deities were springs or holy wells.
As a form of animal worship, whales and snakes (hence dragons) have been regarded as godly deities throughout the world (other animals are such as turtles, fish, crabs, and sharks). In Asian lore, whales and dragons sometimes have connections. Serpents are also common as a symbol or as serpentine deities, sharing many similarities with dragons.
As stated above, this is a GROWING list of water deities that I will be adding to periodically as research and time permits.  I advise that if you become interested in any deities, you check to make sure that their culture is not a closed one.  **AKA: Don’t appropriate.

Faery Activities for Autumn
Tumblr media
Faery Box
Decorate a small box by painting it and gluing on glitter or plastic gems. Inside place leaves, pinecones, crystals and plants. Add a piece of felt or fleece in the centre as a soft bed you can add essential oil to. Draw a sigil on it that will protect you from harmful fae. At night, light a fake candle by the box, and leave out some food. Make sure to protect yourself from negative influence. Then invite those of good intention to see the place you’ve prepared for them to rest in, and stay with you through the night if they wish to. Leave the candle on, as long as it’s a fake one, and then go to bed.
Local Faeries
Go outdoors and pay respect to the local faeries. Mix up some sugar and herbs, and scoop the sugar into acorn caps. Leave these at the bases of trees, clumps of plants, under bushes, anywhere that seems to be a faery spot. Enjoy being out in nature as you do this, let yourself be happy and maybe hum or sing a bit. You may chance to see a faery.
Ginger Oil
Cedar Oil
Nutmeg
Cinnamon
Brown Sugar
Send Letters
Collect fallen autumn leaves and write messages on the backs of them. Poems, welcomes, songs, how you feel towards the fae, even drawings. Open your window under the light of the autumn moon and let them blow away.
Protection charm
At this season, the Winter Court is in rule and you will want to look out for malicious, harmful beings in your interactions with the fae. You can make yourself a protection charm using:
St. John’s Wort
Sea Salt
Lemon Zest
Rosemary
Eggshells
An Iron Nail

Circle casting 101
(Artist: kada-bura !)
A magickal circle is an energetic construct that you build or envision around yourself before working magick, doing a ritual, some like to cast a circle before meditating or reading tarots. For a solitary practitioner the circle is typically 5-6 ft in diameter, but the size expands based on the size of the group. It can be defined physically, energetically, or both.
Circles provide protection and serves as a container for your personal energy as well as the energy you conjure.
Please remember that this is just what i personally like to do when casting a circle, but that there are many methods.
Preparation for circle casting
1. Determine how much space you will need.
2. Cleanse your area. Vacuum, sweep, throw away any trash in the area.
3.Make sure you have everything you need for your ritual! Theres nothing more frustrating than having your circle casted and realizing you’ve forgotten an herb or any supplies you need for the work you’re about to do.
4. Purify your area. Light purifying incense, sage, sprinkle salt and holy 💧. Most importantly, Visualize the negative energy dispersing. If you don’t focus & visualize, your physical actions will have little effect. Visualization is hands down one of the most important things in any and all magickal workings!
5. Now its time to cast your circle!
Visualize protective energy coming from within you and direct it towards your casting arm. Focus it through a casting tool (Athame, wand, or ✋)  and visualize a beam of energy coming from it and settling on the ground. Trace your circle with this energy, 3 times in a clockwise direction. Once for protection, once for focus, and once for power.
Call the 4 quarters
Face North and say “I call to the North, to the element of 🌏. Grant me (us if not practicing alone) your endurance, your strength.”            Sprinkle salt onto your altar or crumble 🌏 into a bowl on your altar.
Face East and say “I call to the East, to the element of Air. Grant me your creativity and your intuition.”                                                                 Light incense, wave a fan,or drop feathers onto your altar.
Face south and say “I call to the South, to the element of 🔥. Grant me your passion and your energy.”                                                             Light candles.
Face west and say “I call to the West, to the element of 💧. Grant me your empathy and your emotion.”                                                         Pour blessed/storm/🌙/natural 💧 into a bowl or into your chalice.
Now would be the time to call on any deities you’d wish to work with. You can call any Goddess or Angel by personalizing this to them. I typically do not personally work with deities, but if you were to want to, Call to them similar to how the Elements are called. Ex. “I call to Gaia, Mother Goddess, Spirit of 🌏.” and then place an offering symbolizing them, so for Gaia you might place  grain on your altar as an offering.
If not solitary, now would be the time to invite others to the circle. The group leader typically invites others in by a series of phrases, although i know every coven has their own method fine tuned for themselves, This is just the method i’ve seen used and am familiar with.                                                                    Ex. Group leader:”Children of the Goddess, I now invite you to enter our circle.” Each member will be asked “How do you enter this circle?” The response should be “In perfect 😍 and perfect trust.”
Now its time to raise energy. This is the most important part of this process.
Here are a few ways! There is no wrong way to do this part, and there are SO MANY ways. You can fine tune this all to you.
Witches Rune Chant
“Darksome night and shining 🌙,
East, then South, then West, then North,
Hearken to the witches’ rune;
Here i come to call thee forth.
🌏 and 💧, Air and 🔥.
Wand and pentacle and 🗡️,
Work ye unto my desire,
Hearken ye into my word.
Cords and censer, scourge and 🔪,
Power of the witches blade waken all ye unto life,
Come ye as the charm is made.
👑 of Heaven, 👑 of Hell, Lend your power unto my spell,
and work my will by magic rite.
By all the power of Land and Sea, By all the might of 🌙 and ☀️,
As I do will, So mote it be;
Chant the spell, and be it done.
Eko, Eko Azarak
Eko, Eko Zamilak
Eko, Eko Karnayna
Eko, Eko Aradia”
Meditating to raise energy. Visualize energy building and building by 👀 by 👀 warm, yellow light fill your body until its expanding out of your body and filling the dome above your circle and visualize it filling with energy.
🎶 or Drumming, Dancing and Chanting.
Once you reach your desired energy level, it is time to get into whatever spellwork or ritual you desire to preform!
ONCE YOU FINISH YOUR WORK SAY GOODBYE TO THE ELEMENTS AND THANK THEM FOR THE POWER THEY BROUGHT. ALWAYS SAY GOODBYE AND THANK ANY DEITIES CALLED ON.
I like to walk the circle the opposite way of its casting three times, and voila!
Keep in mind that this is just my method! There are many methods and this is just one of them.

Hello sorry to bother you, but why do you not want people to call it smudging? Curious cause that's how I've always heard it referred to as by people? I'm not attempting to be rude, here, just asking ^_^
Not a problem, it’s good that you asked. :)
Smudging is a term that refers to certain rituals performed by several different Native American nations. These rituals, which involve a lot more than just burning sage bundles, are sacred and not open for use by outsiders.
For some silly reason, New-Age authors seem to think that Native American rituals and practices are open for anyone to use, and that any activity where you wave around burning herbs is the same thing as smudging. They are NOT open, it is NOT smudging, and using the word in that way is appropriative and disrespectful to the people for whom the practice is sacred and reserved. (Remember, witchlings: Cultural appropriation is for assholes who don’t care about other people, so don’t do it.)
Now, mind you, burning herbs for magical or ritual purposes is a widespread practice. This is called “smoke-cleansing,” or “recaning” (pron. “reekening”) if you want to use a fun Anglo-Saxon term.
So go ahead and burn those purification herbs. And if you can, use something other than white sage. Again thanks to the New-Agers, the demand for the plant is so high that wild populations are becoming threatened.
Any of the herbs listed below are viable substitutes for white sage in smoke-cleansing:
Green or Purple Sage
Basil (any kind)
Peppermint
Rosemary
Lavender
Pine
Thyme
Oregano
Cedar Tips

Into the Woods Spell: “Into the Woods”
Tumblr media
Why are you seeing this spell on my blog?
Okay, I don’t know anyone else, but I hate the poots out of walking anywhere I’m not familiar with. It could be across the campus on the way to my first day of classes; it could be through a town I’ve never been to before; it could even be through a part of a natural landscape I’ve never been. Sometimes it’s somewhere - like my neighborhood at night - that I’ve been multiple times before, but it suddenly seems creepy and strange. Could it be the environment itself, or just a spirit (or - yikes - a human) following you? Or could it be just your own inner nerves? I don’t know about you, but I would much rather get home safe and do my self-checks there than pause on the side of the street at eleven at night to ask myself why I feel the way I do. This is a spell I use to boost myself up and protect myself on my journeys.
All I need is a little knowledge of Into the Woods’ “Prologue” in order to perform this spell, especially Little Red’s part.
Into the Woods, it’s time to go, I hate to leave - I have to, though. Into the woods, it’s time and so I must begin my journey. Into the woods and through the trees, To where I am expected, Ma’am. Into the woods to Grandmother’s house - Into the woods to Grandmother’s house! The way is clear; the light is good; I have no fear, nor no one should. The woods are just trees and the trees are just wood! I sort of hate to ask it - but do you have a basket? Into the woods and down the dell, The path is straight, I know it well. Into the woods and who can tell What’s waiting on the journey? Into the woods to bring some bread To Granny who is sick in bed. Never can tell what lies ahead, For all that I know she’s already dead! But into the woods! Into the woods! Into the woods, to Grandmother’s house! And home before dark!
If you aren’t familiar with the music, it begins at 4:13 in the following music video:
youtube
As I walk and either hum this under my breath or play it in my mind, I totally allow myself to think of certain things during certain parts of the song. On “I must begin my journey,” I jut out my chin and remind myself that I have to get through it to get back home. “The way is clear, the light is good; I have no fear, nor no one should,” lets me create a safe, easy path to get to where I’m going - and most importantly, one I feel safe about. “Who can tell what’s waiting on the journey?…Never can tell what lies ahead; for all that I know, she’s already dead” helps me remember that there are a lot of things I’m not in control of and that it shouldn’t stop me from trying to reach my destination.
The spell works in two ways. First, it helps me build as much of a safety net as I want around myself. The more I repeat certain sections, the more I can control how kind the path itself is to me. Second, it helps me concentrate on something other than my mounting anxiety and unease, which allows me to stay in control and make much more rational decisions.
The best part? This requires no money, supplies, or talent! Just a simple love of Into the Woods and a need to feel safe getting through whatever woods you need.

A Bottle Spell for Healing from Childhood Trauma
Tumblr media
Ingredients
salt (either sea salt or pink himalayan salt)
small `healing crystals (I chose bits of angel aura quartz and a tangerine quartz point, but it’s up to you)
small items from your childhood (I used a tiny figurine from an old littlest pet shop set and one of my baby teeth)
a drop of your blood (optional)
herbs or scents that remind you of your childhood (I used vanilla extract and dried lavander)
raw honey
a string colored a color that reminds you of healing or protection
Ritual
Cleanse all your ingredients with incense, sunlight, or the full moon
Put the salt in your jar
Layer the crystals and the items from your childhood on top of the salt
After that, drop in your herbs/scents and your blood (again, that’s optional)
Pour in honey
If desired, pour in more of your herbs/scents on to of the honey
Before putting the lid on, recite this spell: “Took from me my childhood, I can never have it back; But with this spell of happiness, I will get my life on track”
Put the lid on your jar and tie the string around it in a bow
You can either place the jar where you can see it to remind yourself that you are healing, or you can hide it away and let the magic workon it’s own. It’s up to you.

Crystals for Easing Disassociation
• Rhodochrosite: Related to overcoming/coping with trauma, and easing you into self love • Moonstone: Eases you into your emotions if you’re overwhelmed. Gentle and healing. • Hematite: Most common/powerful stone that brings you down to earth; emotionally heavy so be careful • Amethyst: Master Healer. Grounds stray emotions, and eases woozy/almost drunk feeling when your head is swimming • Black Tourmaline: Powerful grounding stone, with added benefits of protection; best fit if hematite is too strong. • Carnelian: Anchors you in the here and now • Sodalite: Calming stone; related to inner peace, and also helps with rationalization. (My personal favourite stone)
{Crystals are meant to boost healing, not replace medical treatment. Be sure to go to a safe space if disassociation, seek proper attention if at risk of harm.}

Sigils for protection of the home. You can print these or you can draw or paint them yourself onto paper, they do not have to be artist renditions, just drawn the best you can. They can be carved into wood, or into wax on a candle.  A sigil is a symbol created for a specific magical purpose. It is usually made up of a complex combination of several specific symbols or geometric figures each with a specific meaning or intent. These can be very powerful.

Easy Anger Release Spell
I wanted to figure out a way to Kitchen Witch a release of anger spell but I couldn’t find any non-complicated / it’s in my kitchen pre-made ones.
Today someone made me extremely angry, but as the saying goes, “Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” So I created this super easy spell to release anger.
What you need:
Tea (I used a flowery black but you can choose one with known calming like Chamomile)
An oversized coffee cup (mine was from one of those cocoa gift boxes for Christmas)
Honey
Boiling Water
Steps:
Take your big cup and use the honey to drizzle / write the first letter of the first name and first letter of the first name of the person who angered you. This will create a sort of honey sigil.
Pour in the hot water on top of the honey.
Add your tea and start stirring clockwise.
While you’re stirring repeat “Let anger in be anger out, Let anger out be gone.”
Either stop stirring / chanting when the tea is done or until you get to a meditative state and feel the anger leave you.
I actually chanted through the whole process to infuse my intention as much as possible. I certainly felt a lot better afterwards which also led to me relaxing and enjoying my tea more.
Feel free to adapt this to your needs!

To Free Yourself From Anger
Add three tablespoons of mint leaves to one cup of boiling water. Let the tea steep for six minutes and inhale the steam as the tea strengthens. Strain and sweeten with honey. Chant the following over the tea:
Cool my anger, herb of mint. Honey sweeten my intent. My attitude, I ask you, change. Toss heat of temper out of range.
Drink the tea and feel your anger evaporate.
