anyway let me cry into the ether of this follower-less account about how I want to write fic and read fic, em or PhuTian or effinā JackDean even, but Iāve been scared away (and presumably all the other authors have been scared away) by the recent fandom purity purge
Itās prolly shallow but itās actually so depressing to know how in the name of āprotection,ā creatorsā muses and drives and courage have all been killed

I didnāt want to quit writing fanfics yo, but the DMs have left me with little choice for my mental health. Even as I say this itās just so depressing because I still have a lot to write, dammit.

Mayhaps itās time to get my tumblr active again because Twitter is a cesspool of idiots arguing about shipping, of all things, and turning it into moral issues and alleging that the ~le gasp ghostships~ are slander unto these ADULT MEN ACTORS who can most certainly handle themselves.

You know honestly, I feel the need to write about how, delusions aside, Iām fully in with the idea that these two are some flavor of fruitcake.
Like. As a queer person myself (bisexual, in a committed almost 6-year sapphic relationship), talk of same sex marriage is about how love is equal, sure; how it should be celebrated, yes. But thereās also the very real, very practical aspect of it that these two have ALWAYS talked about that makes me think twice.
Allies have celebrated civil rights wins with us, but always in very abstract terms, or in general, ālove is loveā terms. Thatās good stuff, donāt get me wrong.
And yet the way these two have always talked about same-sex marriage reads almost as though they have a personal stake or investment in it.
I threaded about EarthMixās interview on Tee Tai Krua here. This was a 2022 interview.

Mix talks about how equality should extend to legal protections in this part Iāve clipped:

And so, when the equality act finally passed, EarthMix went live at around the same day(?). When asked about their feedback, they both had this to say:

Earth emphasizes that thereās more to be done, and Mix (rightfully) disclaims that he hasnāt read it in full - but that he will do so.
And now in this magazine interview, itās the same thing:
The clear before and after pertaining to practical considerations (property ownership; medical proxy)⦠this isnāt stuff that ordinarily occurs to regular schmegular allies (not typically, anyway; not discounting the efforts of legitimate activist allies, though!), because of the lack of a personal stake in those issues.
This isnāt like, clear cut proof that EarthMix are queer in any way, but I think we can at least theorize that they are part of the community in some way.
I know that people in BL fandoms presume straightness or, at the very least, ironically imply queerness (the ālol I know this is delulu, butā¦ā disclaimers) out of an abundance of caution, and yet thatās dangerous too, isnāt it?
Not that their sexuality or sexual orientation or gender identity should be subject of rumors and speculation - it isnāt - and yet I think we shouldnāt discount their sincerity when it comes to these issues⦠precisely because, with the way they talk about things like same sex marriage, thereās something deeply personal in their statements that they consciously and willingly choose to reveal to us.

i love that Mo is the one who typically comes off as being the responsible one between him and Heng but he's the one that had the idea that they should play hooky from work for three whole days to go on a trip together š¤£

Ossanās Love Thailand is a series for the tired millennial (part 1)
I often go on Reddit to view what people think about OLTH and, while there are the accolades to Earthās acting (deserved, imo) and the cries of āthis series is so underratedā (an opinion I also share), thereās a subset of people who find it⦠boring and filler-y.
So Iām trying to think about why that could be, because I donāt necessarily think those opinions come from a place of hate and could be valid criticism. And yet I donāt share that opinion and Iāve wondered why Iāve been loving this show so much. Iām tuned in like a hawk every week.
Thatās when it dawned on me: OLTH is a slice of life sitcom.
So I was blabbing my incoherent thoughts on Twitter (itās only a plus that blabbing helps the hashtag) here: https://x.com/expensivegherl/status/1896777150222725411?s=46

ā¦and now that my thoughts are more cohesive, hereās why I find the series so relatable.
Heng is a representation of the burned-out optimist.
I think most fans/watchers got MAJOR WHIPLASH when comparing probie!Heng to present Heng. Lots of tweets were saying, āwhat happened to him?ā
Sure, this Heng could be just the idealized version in Moās flashback, but he certainly looked more polished than he does now, which is this:
Eight years have lapsed in between his probation period and his current job as property consultant at Okaeri Real Estate. Heck, he isnāt even mid-management like Ten is. And yet, because heās comfortable enough funding his hobbies, his VR, and his Mr. Saturnworld collection, he doesnāt think it worth it to move up (even if in his head, he DOES want to, as seen in his dream sequence in Episode 1).
The thing is⦠this is all so familiar, because heck, Iām facing this right now. Momās asking me why I canāt buy a house yet, or get married or have kids.
Weāre just raised in different times.
How many times have Millennials been chastised by the boomers and Gen X for not attaining societyās standard of success? Remember how news sites would critique spending our money on avocado toasts and expensive coffee, instead of buying a home and raising a family?
Iām not making this up! Remember these articles?
Which brings me toā¦
Mr. Saturnworld is every Millennialās hobby, ever.
Millennials love their hobbies. Heck, this abandoned site is proof eternal of how we are when we get our hands on hobbies. Coffee brewing (and the gear that comes with it). PokƩmon card collecting. BL merch collections.
The New York Times call it ālife-improvement splurgesā for personal growth:
ā¦I call it escapism.
We were thrown into college/the workforce post- ā08 recession. Thrown into a reality where home ownership is becoming increasingly unattainable. Where salary increases donāt match inflation. Where company loyalty isnāt rewarded with set-for-life benefits. Climate change. Weāre replaceable.
And so when Heng spends his money on Mr. Saturnworld, itās because Mr. Saturnworld is attainable when a house isnāt. And itās enough of a comfort to confront the next day, and the next (else we all go crazy).
Anyway, I want more Saturnworld merch.
With our mundane 9-to-5, we only ever remember the shenanigans of the week.
I think the difference between filler episodes and āshenanigans of the weekā is that the latter serves the sitcom/slice of life format, while filler episodes help āfillā downtime outside of the main plot.
The thing is, filler episodes serve characterization in a plot-driven story/series/format, but sitcoms and slice of life series are NOT plot driven. Theyāre character driven.
We shouldnāt expect an overarching plot of how Heng gets his man in OLTH, because Heng getting his man is only secondary to Heng (and all the other characters) navigating their messy-ass lives.
And so, because OLTH is character-driven story, the āshenanigans of the weekā allows us to see how Heng, Mo, and Kongdech (principally) navigate the curveballs.
Who remembers what theyāre doing in their 9-5? I donāt. I only ever remember my weird clients, my using sick leaves for vacation getaways, and who got drunk in an office outing.
And office gossip, of course.
So yes, āhaunted houseā and āouting episodeā might seem filler-y, but thatās only if you expect the series to be principally a BL romance with comedic elements.
OLTH isnāt that, though. Itās straight up a slice of life comedy with romantic elements⦠and some people might not like that. Thatās okay.
But there are those of us really tired millennials who want to tune out and laugh along with people we could relate to.
Thereās more I have to say about this, but my lunch break is over, and I have work to do. If Iām minded, I might just do a Part 2.
But in conclusion: OLTH is made for me! And Iām so happy I get to tune in and watch this show every week. The only shame is weāve only got 3 episodes left sigh.

Why is it so good?
Okay...waking up from the dead but Ossan's love Thailand??????????
Believe me when I say i'm not really into gmmtv dramas at all but that never stopped me from being super fond of Earthmix and although i don't necessarily (i don't) follow their stuffs since atots, i've got to admit that they are my dudes and forever will be THE gmmtv pairing to me + ik how talented and hardworking they are and how precious their relationship is so whatās not to like, right?
Having said that, I am a big fan of Ossan's love bcs that shit is hilarious and idk it is such, imho, a trademark of jpn bl and when it came out back in 2018 i was like omg omg omg this is so funny, this is revolutionary bcs of its comedic aspect, bcs it's not serious (but still has its moment, bcs it's FUN to watch and the great actors in it. Now, I also do remember being so surprised and very much confused (but happy) upon Earthmix cameo in the recent "season" but never really followed up or even questioned myself as to why were they in that episode to begin with but rather went : Oh Haruta and Maki are in thailand, cuuuuuute, oh a restaurant, huh Earth....... MIX?????? Earthmix, offc earthmix are the owners of that restaurant.....cuuuuute, so good to see you too, bye and that was about it and yes you can boo me all you want bcs i deserve it. Irdk how i didnāt connect the dots or even just went a little huuuum that's suspicious, this cameo probably means there is a very plausible remake of this show in the work with EM but the depth of my slow wittedness is a story for another day.Ā
Back to the main topic, being how fucking great Ossanās love thai remake is and most importantly how incredible Earthmix are in these roles???????!!!!!!!! Like I said, bcs i watched the entire OL jpn series as it premiered and I have such a vivid recollection of it, I went into the remake a bit skeptical (and late ofc), not as to the acting bcs for that, i knew EM would deliver but more regarding the plot and how they could interpret in their own way such a jpn work but oh boi how wrong was I for that bcs this remake is EVERYTHING. I love it. I simply love it sfm. It is funny, hilarious per moment in this very Thai way and romantic and warm and cringey and everything it should be. The acting is phenomenal and iām so happy to see EM in such different roles and dynamics (lowkey who they are irl)...like they are so good and this feels so fresh after atots (don't judge me) like they've grown so much????? i'm emotional and they got better at acting and they are grown and ooooooofff i love it and NO ONE in gmmtv could have played them the way EM did bcs i believe they do be giving HarutaxMaki vibes anyways so yeah, thanks for that but i have to give props to the writers of the remake and the director as well because they ATE and left no crumbs and thanks to them I almost started to like monday, knowing Heng, Momo, Boss and all the gang are providing me with almost an hour of absolute mess.Ā
So, yeah Ossanās love thailand is great, like genuinely, no joke whatsoever. That shit slaps so thank you Earthmix for once again providing, you never disappoint <3

Ossanās Love Thailand! Donāt think I donāt see you working in the beginning notes from the 1000 Stars theme into the score! You can pretend youāre just a wacky comedy but I heard you doing it right at the beginning of part 4 in episode 3, you know, the same section where they do the reversal of the famous forehead kiss from that series. You clever dog! Just like you did with the Moonlight Chicken score last week! Iām onto you!

new heng/momo fic
So a while back, during the 1M pilot trailer views milestone, I promised I'll be writing fics prompted over on my Twitter thread for a fic-a-thon thing.
Here's my first response!
Now, I know it's weird to write fic for something that doesn't yet exist, but I'm drawing a little bit from the original JP and a little bit from the pilot trailer. Of course, it would be OOC once the show airs and we see how different the portrayal could be, but... Here you go.
on the practicality of things Rating: T Pairing: Heng/Momo Summary: In his apartment, there is one bed.
Mo didnāt bother asking his broker for a new room. It was practical. At least, thatās what he told himself. Notes: Written for sunyeomi @ twitter's prompt: im not sure how this works šš but i bring a prompt of hengmo being exes that are forced to share an apartment

In celebration of 1 million views for the Ossans Love Thailand pilot trailer, I hosted a prompt thread on Twitter (Iām offering to write some of the prompts but other authors are free to claim).
Extending it to here, too! Comment an OLTH-related prompt in this post, and Iāll post it on Twitter as a prompt for claiming, or write fic myself!
(This is my excuse to populate more nameless/hanger-adjacent fic tags for my personal consumption, but exercising my fic muscles might also be a good idea)
The Twitter thread:
Iāll type it out here:
To celebrate #1MOssansLoveTH, reply to this tweet post with ~*FIC PROMPTS*~
Rules:
⢠You prompt, I write (HengMo, HengMoOssan because why not lmao)
⢠disclaimer: I invent the scenarios obviously, since the show isnāt on air yet
⢠Max 1000 words (tho Iāll exceed that knowing me)
Obviously Iāll be answering prompts here BUT if any of my writer moots are so inclined, you can write fic/AU too lmao
Fic answers will be archived on AO3 under an OLTH ficathon collection.
This will be open ended and runs from now until OLTH is on air.
Letās gooooo!

bad behavior
Rating: E/NC17 Chapters: one-shot Summary:
Tian watches as Phupha grabs something from the nightstand ā a pen? ā and uncaps it. He holds Tianās chin with one hand, and Tian feels the wet drag of the pen against his cheeks. āChief, what are youāā
āThere,ā Phupha says, āWhiskers.ā
To be honest this is also inspired by @earthmixsclowderofcats's thought of the potential earth mix kink blue-screening brains. it has blue-screened mine, too welp
