Scrolling down the WTKD community hub on steam is really entertaining. Like on one end you have the media analysts/fans and then you get the confused and unhinged reviews of people who just stumbled upon the game without realizing what the hell they we're getting into and are scrambling to understand and it's great.

Okay i ramble on so putting a "read more" thingy

okay yes, but consider that he bounced around as "William Sunshine"/"Dr sunshine" with a couple of other bands (a verbal equinox is one of those bands and you should be able to find them online) still I could see neptune referring to them as just "the tapeworms" but yes i see the vision, will has changed enough that they just think it's two different people (he dresses and acts quite different nowadays) and hilarity ensues

neptune makes fun of how Normal album will wood is A Poser who is just trying to sound wild and crazy and isnt even doing a good job unlike the lead singer in EIAL who's a Real artist, and who can actually commit to losing their mind mid performance. Neptune straight up says "that album is SO bland, no wonder you love it so much" while venus tries to explain the deeper themes. venus on the other hand thinks that EIAL and Self-ish is just someone screaming nonsense hoping that no one can tell and just generally being "lol random" (I mean he did a kazoo solo for christ's sake, a kazoo solo).

Venus doesnt bully neptune but does accidentally drop comments passive-aggressive enough to kill a grown man (but not one of the worst girls since eve) like "oh. how...unexpected?" "wow that sounds really, uh, interesting?" after the true ending they get more comfortable teasing each other, offering to take each other to a live show so they can see what "real music" is like. This goes on for years, until they both try to surprise the polycule with three tickets at the same time, to the will wood funeral tour.

Yeah that’s basically what I was trying to get but like I said before I’m bad at writing my thoughts down into words lol. That whole surreal mix is one of the things that has kept me obsessed with the game so long (nearly 5 years now I think). I wish there were more pieces of media that did that because the whole concept of mixing Flesh, Divine, and Machine together really scratches my brain for some reason. (Its why I’ve taken to writing about that kind of thing myself, the divinity I go into is more based around pagan and elemental forces but WKTD has definitely heavily inspired some of the themes in my writing also for this reason).

Im not the best at media analysis unfortunately (better at expressing my thoughts through creative writing than technical and would probably have to replay the game to give a more in depth answer) but essentially I’ve just never seen another piece of media that melds body horror, religious trauma, and fantastical machinery (the radios that god/the devil talk to Group West through) in such profound way like WKTD. I remember I initially posted that a while ago while I was talking to my brother who brought up the subject of The Flesh, The Divine and The Machine in the first place since we both write stories that dive into those themes and I was like “if you like the combination of those elements boy do I have the game for you!” (I have yet to get him to play it with me but I’ll get around to it eventually). And then later I essentially decided to post that because I thought it was funny and am like one of three regular shitposters for the wktd fandom. So yeah, like I said I’m not the best at media analysis, I’m better at telling stories than dissecting them lol. But hopefully this helped you understand my thought process a little bit more
