It’s a day for exuberance. It’s a day of emotion. Yea it’s 383rd birthday of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is a city but Madras is an emotion goes a popular meme. It is celebrated annually every year just to mark the establishment of the city. In the year 1639, exactly 383 years ago, Fort St. George was purchased by the British. Since then this small piece of land grew momentous and gigantic to become the capital city of the state Tamil Nadu. Since then monumental growth was seen in all spheres belonging to the city. The monuments were built and there came pride to the city. Famous personalities were born in the city and lived their living setting a benchmark for their followers. The city has never turned away anybody who came for a humble earning into its boundaries. The city runs round the clock and one can witness buzzing business in the flower or vegetable market inside the city. Starting from hawkers to the renowned businessmen make their living in the city. Although India is ruled by Bollywood, it is a matter of fact that Chennai is considered to be the damsel town for the South Indian film industry. The city in itself homes Zoological park, Snake park and many other amusement centres.
Tumblr media
The Marina Beach stands substantial as it is the second largest beach in the world. Come on weekends, to amble through the sands and get a glimpse of people of varied cultures of the entire Tamil Nadu. Busts and statues of great leaders throngs the important places in the city. Thanks to corona, the city still witnesses happy weekends on the roads where the avoidance of mobile phones is encouraged. The city is always busy however public parks will overflow with sexagenarians, septuagenarians or the youths. The city will be sputtering with varied spices when it is any celebration. National flags would spruce up on the National festivals. Easter and Eid would be celebrated with the same flavour.
Tumblr media
The city doesn’t bias its feelings but sometimes people do. The traffic on arterial roads is eased with overpasses and underpasses. The walk-ins at the metro stations, sub urbans and flying train stations encompass the total people who clock in and out for their works. The construction of one more aerodrome in Parandur, withiin the city limits of Chennai is an impressive example of the growing population and importance of the city. The city caters food in every possible modes beginning from hawkers or push carts to the five star rated hotels. The city hosts an emotive lifestyle. The city looks busy however it has a place for all who step in with a dream of getting flourished. Happy to be a Chennaite!!

Colourfully painted in Black and White: Isn’t that an irony ?
Chess fever has engulfed the entire city. The walls and bridges are painted black and white in squares. As we slid through the floors of the Napier bridge in Chennai, it presents us with a feeling of a king or queen or the ministers or the soldiers. The commemoration finds a place in the buses, metro trains, and bus stops. The most intriguing was the milk packets imprinted with chess boards being delivered by the milkwalas, at your doorstep in the mornings. The celebrations are in complete swing and galore. The release of the chess anthem, Vanakkam vanakkam and welcome to Chennai which was composed by the Oscar winner and legend, A R Rahman and directed by the director, Vignesh Shivan is already doing the rounds in the city. It is resonating through the niches and corners of the state.

The forty-fourthFIDE Chess Olympiad begins today in Chennai. Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi landed in Chennai to inaugurate the historic event. To kickstart the event, the torch was lit forty days before at the capital city by the PM and handed over to the four-time world Championship Winner, Vishwanathan Anand. The torch traversed through iconic places which accounted for seventy-five places that commemorate the seventy-fifth year of Indian Independence. It is a moment of pride and dignity, as India respectfully hosts the 44th Chess Championship. The mascot, ‘ Knight Thambi ’ stands tall and yearns in the places which display the brotherhood of Tamilnadu’s culture. This Championship is going to see 2000 participants from over 187 countries. The orchestration of the event needs a blessed ovation as the city was lit brightly. The Prime Minister was given a cordial welcome as he travelled through the land to the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor stadium. The rest of the competitions are going to be held in Mamallapuram, the city of Pallavas. It is very well known that Chess is a game that originated in INDIA. The sixty-four, black and white squares with Kings and queens along with their consorts of ministers escorted by the army of elephants, horses and soldiers are no lesser than a battlefield. It is well-known fact that one can win the game of Chess only through intelligence and not through sheer luck. The inauguration saw a galaxy of intellectuals. The cultural programme at the inaugurals included the eight dance forms of India, the cultural display of Tamilnadu and the language Tamil and finally the enjoy enjaami performance, the fever that gripped the individuals a few months before. The Prime Minister in his speech quoted the words of Thiruvalluvar, the eminent saint poet of Tamilnadu. He lauded everyone for the grand arrangements in a very short period of time. Prior to his talk, the Chief Minister with deep profound thanks appreciated the PM for accepting the invitation for the inauguration. He too quoted the history which speaks high about Chess. The Prime Minister officially revealed the colours of the Kings and queens that will be ruling the competitions thereupon at the Championship. Each delegate and respected dignitaries of the inaugural participated in the proceedings in an impeccable way. The consummate was the declaration of the championship 'open' by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi.
Tumblr media
It is for sure that this Championship held at Tamilnadu will be the one that will be etched in the history and memories forever.

Why is my life full of miseries and struggles?
Once there was a rich man who believed his life is full of struggles and miseries alone. But he was pious and devoted that he prayed to God every night. All the day he repeated only one thing, ‘ God, Why my life is full of struggles? Please at least exchange my miseries with someone and make me live happily’. This he continued all day.
One fine day, God paid him a visit and he was ready to offer him what he had been asking for all these days. The rich man became very happy and eagerly waited for the next word from God’s mouth. The leader began to talk, ‘ Oh my dear! You say that your life is always gull with struggles and wanted to exchange them with others. Hereby we are striking a deal. Tonight, pack all your miseries and unhappiness into a sack. Carry it on your shoulders and run to reach a community hall at the end of this hamlet. I will be waiting for you there. You will be relieved of all the things there.’ Saying this God vanished from sight. The rich man was elated. The thought that he is going to get rid of all his miseries tonight made him more elated. He waited for the moment. Packed all his miseries and carried them on his back. The sack was a little heavier however the thought of getting relieved made him run a little faster.
To his astonishment, everyone on the road was running with heavy bags on their back. When compared to the sizes of the bags, his was not that big. But the rich man was sure to reach the community hall and load down the miseries. Before he had reached the hall, there were many standing there with their miseries bag. The rich man too put down his sack and started waiting for the Demiurge. The Creator appeared before everybody’s eyes and began to talk. ‘ Dear all, I believe everybody has reached the place with all your miseries packed’. Now either exchange your bags with others or carry your own bags. Don’t forget to run away from the place in a minute. If you fail to do so, your miseries will be doubled’. Everybody started perspiring. They now thought that their miseries are far better than others. The rich man believed that his bag of miseries is smaller than compared of others. So instead of exchanging, he started to walk back with his own.
Moral: Everybody’s life is made up of struggles and happiness. Miseries double as you begin to feel them. Drop them and carry on with your life. Happiness tends to follow you.

Tumblr media
A sea of flags waved during the twilight. The air was filled with momentous joy. Girls in tribal attire were pirouetting in elation. The Presidential election results announced that NDA alliance candidate Draupathi Murmu was surging past against the opposition candidate, Yashwanth Sinha. She will be the first tribal woman to be appointed as the 15th president of India. It came at the right time as India is preparing itself to celebrate the 75th year of Independence. She has amassed 50% of the congregated votes. It’s a moment of augustness.
Who is Draupadi Murmu?
Draupadi Murmu belongs to the Santali or Santhal tribe, an ethnic group native to South Asia. The Santali tribe lives mostly in Jharkhand. During her tenure of 6 years, she has never failed to work for the tribes of her own land. She joined the BJP in the year 1997 and was elected as a councillor in Odisha. She was born in Odisha where her father and grandfather were the Sarpanch. She was married to Shyam Charan Murmu and the couple had two sons and a daughter. From the year 2009 to 2014 she lost her two sons, her husband, her mother and her brother. She is now surviving only with her daughter. To chase away her loneliness she chose spirituality and joined Brahma Kumaris who are believed to sanctify the souls.
Tumblr media
Before her state political avenue, she was a teacher. Then she became the honorary assistant professor at Shri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research in Rairangpur and later on joined as a Junior assistant at Odisha Irrigation Centre.
She is a representative of the subaltern and is expected to bring impressive switches and transitions during her tenure. ‘ Should she be selected, she will be the first tribal woman to be elected as President’ - said the reports during the presidential elections campaign. Now the walk and wait are over. Now she is the second woman President to reach Raisina Hill after the first woman president, Prathiba Patil. Let’s also join the folks in celebrating the womanhood who clamber the ladder of decorum and dignity. Let’s too solemnise the victory and await any needed change.

International Nelson Mandela Day
‘Great persons aren’t made; they are made’ goes an anonymous quote.
Nelson Mandela was not born great but his struggles which he underwent and the deeds he did to break from his family and tradition, made him a great person. His autobiography ‘ Long walk to freedom’ proliferates his ideology and his vouch for veracity. He is a mascot of liberty who was captured, isolated and imprisoned but who then gave his impressive leadership to the country.
Tumblr media
Every year to mark his remembrance, July 18 th is observed as International Nelson Mandela day. The day was officially by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela day held on 18 th July 2010. This piece of writing is a touchstone for his anti-apartheid idealism. He was a great leader who rose to a compelling personality and so this International Mandela day is celebrated with a key focus on issues related to prisons and prisoners on this day. For his anti - apartheid oeuvres , he spent long 27 years in the prison. It is a remarkable time and hence the Intergovernmental organisation even devised the ‘ Nelson Mandela Rules’, which underlined the norms for the treatment of the prisoners. Why this man is hailed by all? What astounding thing has he established? He was a sensational Human rights lawyer, and also played the role of an international peacemaker. He also dedicated his life to empowering people and fighting rights of all human beings. He empowers the maxim of equal opportunities of all. ‘Adding a feather to the crown’ is the phrase that describes the addition of bestowal into their dignified position. But Nelson Mandela’s crown would weigh high in gross since he adorns 250 awards including the coveted ones, Bharath Rathna and Nobel Prize. He is hailed as the ‘ Gandhi of South Africa’. India always stands the best for him since his ties and bonds with the country was exceptional and a strong follower of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhiji.
Tumblr media
He was born on 18th July 1918 and today it’s the 104th birth celebration of this legendary leader of the Anti - apartheid movement. He is fondly called as ‘ Madiba’ in South Africa. To make this day more meaningful this year 2022, Prince Harry delivered the keynote address at this year’s United Nations General Assembly in commemoration of the Nelson Mandela Day. The theme of this year’s observance is ‘ Do what you can with what you have and where you are’ . It is indication to eradicate poverty by all the available means with us. Let's never forget the saying of this incredible man which conveys the following; ‘ Racism must be opposed by all means that humanity at its disposal’.
Tumblr media
To everybody’s astonishment and to honour his service to the community, Wash fellowship is launching Mandela Day service Grants in early 2023 to support short-term Alumni service projects. Let’s vow on this day to be inspired by the beautiful legacy left by this exceptional leader and also ensure our people will receive the dignity of their birth in any piece of land.

Hello Big cats, Are frowning or beaming?
Tumblr media
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 14th 2022 unveiled the National Emblem that is perched upon the Parliament roof. The crest sits at a height of 33 meter from the ground. The massive structure is a four lions facing backwards and opposite to each other. The monumental emblem will be a discernible , even when viewed from a distance of 1 to 2 kilometre. The native Ashok pillar at saranath is placed at ground level. The emblem in the parliament precincts that weighs 9500 kg in bronze is grounded 21 feet. Except for the size and angle, it is the exact replica of the original says Sunil Deore, the sculptor of the humongous lions. The lion capital had four lion mounted back to back on a circular abacus. The frieze of the abacus is decked up with figurines in high relief of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a loin seperated by intervening Dharma Chakras said an official. The environs of the Parliament raises our hair when the massive structure, the state emblem of india, stands high on the ground. There comes a controversy always as new things spruce anywhere. The lion capital at Parliament roof seems no exception. The opposition parties claim it to be a brazen insult to India's National symbol. The images and angles of the monument circulated today claim the lions to be angry while original at Saranath is subtle and calm. Many are of the view that the effigy is grossly disrespectful. However, Sunil Deore, the Aurangabad based sculptor who is also a alumni of Mumbai JJ school of arts brushed apart the negative comment He added that the original at saranath will look angry if viewed in a oblique vision( Diagonal Or 45°) He said the emblem is built only after thorough, detailed and minute study of the original. It is almost twenty times bigger than at saranathSunil's brother sushil also made clear that facial expressions may vary to the naked eye from different angles especially when there is a large scale magnification.
Big or small, angry or calm Lions say cheese!!!!

The human brain is blessed with the attribute of perceptions! Brain is the baton that acts according to the senses of a human brain. Each sensory organ plays a vital role in sensing; however eye is the king of all. Eye is considered as the super - Photoshop genius, since the retina captures the image upside down and backwards. It sends signals to the brain which percepts the original image. There is a phenomenon which is called optical illusion which is the trick of the eye. Optical Illusion is described as an illusion in the domain of virtual perception that is tickled in the virtual system. It is a visual percept that arguably appears to different from reality. The sixth century expert Socrates called it as ' Magic' or ' Trick of the eye'. Optical illusion are the hot cakes. that are ruling the world Irrespective of age and gender. Do you surf net? Or Are you active in forwarding images! Then you are sure to hit on these images that asks to infer the images. Optical illusions are broadly classified into three types, they are physiological , cognitive and literal. Physiological illusions are the ones that are result of the perception due to the factors of brightness, movement or tilt end till we experience it to a degree. Our brains will fill in the gaps and images. The image that should be there is called ' After image' . We would have experienced the illusion without even knowing that it is an optical illusion. The best example of physiological illusion is the Hermann Gridd. They are white grids with black squares, when you see directly. But as you move your eyes across the pattern, we see grey spots on the smudges where the black lines cross each other.
Tumblr media
Cognitive illusions are the most important and familiar illusions because it tells how one individual percepts an image. In simple words, it tells how an individual looks at an image differently. Based on this perception, this cognitive illusion is broken down into four types. Ambiguous, distorting, Paradox, Fictional The most important example of this type of illusion is ' My wife and my mother- in-law' .It has two figures. One is old and one is young. Each individual differently percepts to see either young or the old. Some studies also say that the young persons see the young woman first and old people tend to see the old woman first.
Tumblr media
Literal illusion are explained as the illusion created with a specific purpose . They are created without the interception of cognitive or physiological illusions. The literal illusion are stable in arts. The bigger image is fed with small images. All the museum will surely have artefacts or art pieces that feed upon the literal illusion. Artists such as Rena Magritte and Octavio Ocampo are famous for using illusions in their works. The favourite example of literal illusion is elephant illusion.
Tumblr media
It is drawn with specific purpose of confusing the viewer. Aren't you interested about the illusion after reading the article, then you are the kind of person who must surely vist the museum of illusions in New York City. You will be surely impressed and can feel stunning too, amidst your friends. This provide food to your senses and captivate the brains of illusions.

Why Assam is always under water?
Rain God lashes Assam year after year ruthlessly. Before the lacerations and Imprints left by the Rains get weaned off, there comes another downpour. Assam isn't spared. But why the rain scourge is relenting the state? There are few resons. Before delving deep, let's learn the boundaries. Assam is situated on the foothills of Himalayas in the North eastern part of India. The Bhramaputra river is mainly fed by the North - East monsoon which is the staple reason behind Assam flood. It also owns thirteen tributaries all these waters flow into Assam in a short period of time. The river Barak also joins together with Bhramaputra to keep the place wet always. Also the next reason cited ,it is heralded that soil is eroded in a massive stretch when there is incessant rains. Rain is playing a havioc and the people run Pillar to post every year seeking relief. This soil erosion and flood play a negative role in the development of the state. As per statistics, the whole of India embarks 10.2 % as rain hit area where Assam stands top with 39.58% of the sate as rain hit areas. The flood problem of the state is aggravated by flash floods of the neighboring states like Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Bank erosion by Bhramaputra, and Barak and their 50 tributaries has been assessed at 7.50% of the total land in 1954 . The survey conducted in the recent times reveals an alarming picture. It is believed that the width of the river Bhramaputra is now at 15.00 KM due to the strong whip received from rains. Breaches of the embankment due to erosion is a common phenomenon. Every year new areas are recognized as being affected by erosion. The loss due to this havoc has been estimated at ₹ 700 crore the previous year. The nature is at its best goes an olden age. But i think we need a slight
or different configuration which says ‘The nature at it's furious’. What could be done? Technology based situations are available in plenty, like geo tubes or strengthening the embankments but will they alone serve the purpose ?. The recent floods in Assam reveal theat few miscreants break opened the embankments to create a water tumult. Hence needed is not only technology based solutions, but fear to Nature's fury and a scrupulous heart!
