Check your violent impulses when reacting to black people. It should not be so typical to watch people approach black people with “critique” very aggressively and then relax & have respectful conversation with a nonblack person on the same subject. ALWAYS take a moment before sparking up an argument with a black person to ask yourself if you’re responding in an appropriate manner, or if it’s possible that your subconscious biases have you approaching with undue hostility. Some of you will post a million sheepish apologies before you just do the work to fix your learned instincts to bash black people when given the opportunity.

if you can’t get out of bed, try and sit up instead of lying down. it’ll be better for your back and your blood pressure.

if you can’t shower or have a bath today, try and brush your teeth and clean your ears. it’ll keep you a little cleaner, and we often forget those areas. 

if you can’t get dressed today, change underwear and use some deoderant. it’ll leave you a little fresher until you have the strength to change fully.

We (The Panthers) were out doing food distribution yesterday and there was a homeless trans woman with cerebral palsy.

And just. Fuck me, man. It was all we could do to get her some estrogen. We gave her some razors but like. Can she even use them?

It felt more personal. Here was one of my sisters at the lowest she could possibly be and there was nothing I could fucking do.

I haven't been able to get her out of my mind.

She couldn't speak. She was terrified of men. She was on the corner begging for cigarettes. There was a smear going down her cheek from where she had applied her lipstick. She started crying when she saw another black transwoman. When she held me I could feel her drowning.
