Prisoner - Part 23
A/N: So I had kind of a tough time with this chapter. I had the battle scene all planned out and I had fun writing it, but it’s short. I couldn’t figure out how to make it longer without losing the intensity. I really hope you guys like it!

Henry saw the Saxon king, Harold Godwinson, fall from his horse at the Battle of Hastings some five months ago. He didn’t see what happened after at least a dozen Normans, some on horseback, swarmed around him.
Henry chose to believe that Harold was dead by the time they got to him, that he did not feel the hooves as they trampled him or the Norman’s blades as they mutilated him, but no one could be entirely sure.
Simon later swore that he saw an arrow strike Godwinson square in the eye, killing him at once. Others said he died under the horses’ weight as they trampled him, breaking his bones and caving in his chest. Some weren’t sure when he died at all, only that the man who called himself the King of England was dead, and the Saxons’ hope along with him.

Prisoner - Part 20
The moment you’ve all been waiting for! I’m in a bit of a writing slump and I really hope you like it.
Things are about to get brutal in the next couple of chapters.

The sun had long since risen by the time Henry returned to his rooms.
It was a long night. Simon had only just settled down. He hadn’t been awake, exactly, but he had been restless. He would mutter half-sentences that sounded like he might be asking for something and howled like a beast whenever someone cleaned or dressed his wounds.
Roger and Charlie offered to stay with him while Henry and Elaine went home to their families for a while.
Henry walked Elaine to her chamber, hand on her lower back to guide her. She’d been on her feet and crouched over for hours on end, though Henry guess that was only part of the reason she was shaking so much.
“How much does Mercia know?” she asked, throat dry and voice crackling.

Prisoner - Part 19
So I think I’ve finally figured out how this story will end! We’ve still got a little ways to go first though, and shit’s about to get really real.
Masterlist Highland Romance Teaser

Thomasin usually had trouble falling asleep naked. It just felt improper. She made a fuss about being unclothed the second night she and Henry shared a bed.
“It all feels very … dirty,” she’d said, slipping out of his arms. She pulled her shift on over her head before crawling back in beside him.
“We’re married, Tom,” Henry had said. “Nothing we do together is dirty.”
She raised her eyebrows. “What about when you … kissed me … when …”
Henry grinned, flashing his sharp teeth. “That’s the most natural thing in the world,” he said.
“I don’t see how.”

Highland Romance Teaser
I’ve started writing that Henry Highland romance. Not sure how it will progress/if I’ll make a story out of it (plus no name ideas yet) but here’s a chunk of the chapter I wrote. Starring grumpy Henry!

“It makes me feel better about sending my oldest girl to the highlands next summer, knowing her husband’s land is close to yours. She and Catherine can visit,” the old man said.
“Which is his clan?” the Scot asked in his deep, monotone voice, watching his kinsmen excitedly reacquaint themselves with his cousin. Catherine wasn’t offended that Henry wasn’t showering her with affection; that simply wasn’t his way. He hadn’t even embraced her yet.
“Maclean,” Baron Hampton said. “Sybil is to marry the laird’s eldest son.”
Henry’s ever-present frown deepened, changing into an expression of fury rather than boredom. Maclean.
