Woman at work -  an international comparisation
I chose GapMinder codebook because I’m interested in international comparison, I’m interested to woman condition too, so I extract the relative item.
I would like to investigate whether there is a correlation between the female employment (item:femaleemployrate, 2007 - related to the item  employrate, 2007)  and some indicators that could define the development of a country, such as:
·       co2emissions (2006)
·       relectricperperson (2008)
·       urbanrate (2008)
I will not taking other interesting item because in the description of the indicator the detection date is too far from the others that I would like to examine.
The hyipotesis I would like to confirm or not is that the female employment rate represents a driving force for the wealth of a country as illustrated in the research of INAPP: “Occupazione femminile e gender policies: un confronto internazionale” (Inapp: Female employment and gender policies: an international comparison March 2008), this research was  conducted in the same years of the Gapminder data.
My codebook is this:
femaleemployrate: 2007  female employees age 15+ (% of population) Percentage  of female population, age above 15, that has been employed during the given year.
employrate: 2007  total employees age 15+ (% of population) Percentage  of total population, age above 15, that has been employed during the given year.
co2emissions: 2006  cumulative CO2 emission (metric tons), Total amount of CO2 emission in metric tons since 1751.
relectricperperson: 2008  residential electricity consumption, per person (kWh) The  amount of residential electricity consumption per person during the given year, counted in kilowatt-hours  (kWh).
urbanrate: 2008  urban population (% of total) Urban  population refers to people living in urban areas as defined by national  statistical offices (calculated using World Bank population estimates  and urban ratios from the United Nations World Urbanization Prospects)
