Jonah playfully scoffed. "Uh-huh. Good luck, I could be immune to every kind you got. It'll be like a fun little game." He had still been taking in his surroundings when she held the glass out for him to take. "I like that you don't shut the fuck up," he said, smiling thanks as he took the glass. "It's cute." As if that was a simple statement, he took a sip from his wine and casually started back to the living room. "You know, I think I was expecting more color around here... Congrats, you threw me off."
"Hey! No ruining the surprise," Violet chastises him playfully, casting a glance at him over her shoulder before redirecting her attention to pouring the two of them a bit of wine. She turns around, meeting him halfway into the kitchen, holding out the glass in offering as she looks him over. Her brows furrow just slightly, head tilting some. "I don't mind that you're quiet. I never shut the fuck up, so." She offers.

Art 💭 Edgar
“There are so many what if’s that I get lost in. If my Dad didn’t get the part in LA, if you found one of my shows and reached out, if I found you faster… I guess, in the end, maybe all those cases weren’t meant to be. You’d think I’d take that as a hint, huh? …No matter what, you’re still always gonna have a piece of my heart. And you’ll still always be my best friend. Those are just a given. I’m just sorry that I have to follow my own heart now. Whatever that ends up being. This is just one decision that I have to make for me and no one else.”

Bev 💭 Edgar
“I’ve always really looked up to you and your work. Even when I didn’t know you, it felt like I did just simply from the papers you wrote. I’ve even used you as a citation once or twice… I don’t think you ever knew about that. Anyway, I guess maybe I like to believe that if both of us didn’t end up here, we’d both be teaching in the same university somewhere. I hope we’d always be friends at least. If not, then maybe that’s one of the only good things about being trapped here, huh?”

Lilith 💭 Sam
“I need out of this. Everything that you said finally makes sense and I’m scared they may know I’m questioning things now. So I have to keep pretending for my safety and my partners. I keep trying to tell you to stay away from it but you just keep getting closer and they’re going to fucking hurt you too. You’re a good person. Stay away. It’s too late for me so stay away, Sam.”

“I know there are things I will never be able to do. Especially when it comes to Elijah. I promise, I’m being realistic, not pessimistic. I’m not— street smart to any degree. I’m not experienced in what you both do. I’m small. I’m not strong enough… But I’m not jealous. Trust me. Im so grateful that he has you. That we have you. I know how strong you were being to support me when his life was in the balance and I’m so sorry I couldn’t do the same. It hurts me that I couldn’t step up then. So, I promise, I will make it up to you. One day. Somehow.”

Noah 💭 James
“I know I have a problem... I don’t know, maybe I don’t and I’m being dramatic. I just— I can’t tell you. I won’t. I can’t let another person in my life down. I can’t mess up your progress. I can’t let down the people that need me at work either. I can’t hurt Amber more. I keep thinking about how I wanted to be a teacher. My sister wanted me to go to college so that I could teach and… Now I’m just a bartender that might have a problem. It’s fucking ironic. Trying to make you proud is all I have left. If I told you the truth, it would be the most selfish thing I’ve ever done. I’m so sorry.”

💭 Bev about Amy
“I know I’m not much older than you so I shouldn’t treat you like I do… And really my childhood was so different than yours so I hate to compare us, but I see the same sadness in your eyes that I had. The people that were supposed to protect us failed us entirely. But if I can make you see that that’s not how the world entirely is— then it’s all worth it. You’re so loved and you will be happy. You deserve someone to lean on when you don’t feel strong and I will always be that person… You can trust me. I may feel like I have no idea what I’m doing and frankly, I may be terrified too, but you will never know. I promise.”

💭 Rosalie about Sawyer
“I consider you like a daughter to me. Since the day you were born, you have always felt like my own and that will never change. You’re older now and you’re so strong and capable and independent… You’re more like a friend than ever. I know you don’t need me, it’s just so hard to let go. But if you do ever need to be little again for a while, Aunt Rosie will always be here to take you to ice cream floats and a movie like we used to.”

💭 Donovan about Steph
“Our friendship had a hilarious start but… I think you’re the closest thing I’ll ever have to a sister. My Mom is a really strong lady and you remind me of her so I think that kinda checks out, ya know? I tell you everything because I’ll never get away with it, but I know you’ll always back me up too… I really don’t know what I’d do without you here. You keep me fucking sane.”

💭 Dorian about Hayden
“I really regret being a dick when I saw you again. You’re— fucking pretty and smart— you don’t deserve to deal with all the bullshit that I put you through. Actually, you don’t deserve what everyone and their saggy little grandmother puts you through. They all weigh you down with their bullshit and no one’s looking after you because this town just takes shit like a horny succubus… I just don’t wanna be one of those people to you. So, I’ll keep an eye out or something from a distance… I promise.”

Jonah thought that damn nervous fumbling had gone away years ago, and yet, here it was again. He could have been swallowed up by the Earth and he would have welcomed it. "I'm a quiet guy if you haven't noticed," he replied, following her inside and taking a peek around. Honestly, Jonah hadn't really expected this kind of decor. "Yeah, sure," he called back, still looking around as he walked toward the kitchen. "You're not gonna poison me, right?"
Violet's definitely a little (or a lot) smug as she leads him to her apartment. "Cat got your tongue?" She asks over her shoulder as she unlocks the door. There's definitely a joke to be made there but she graciously allows him a break as she pushes the door open. It's decorated pretty simply in mostly earth tones, and she doesn't bother to flick on the overhead lights, instead opting to turn on some lamps with softer lighting as she walks. "You want something to drink?" She asks as she strides to the kitchen.

Art smiled brightly in return. He hated talking about feelings. It was easier to ignore everything about it and move on. "I missed you too... Trust me, there were plenty of times when I would've asked you for help, and I couldn't." He shrugged. "Maybe. Then again, couldn't that make the situation worse for them too?"
Edgar gave the other a pointed look, both for the comment and for blatantly ignoring the question. "Well, I guess for that I'm thankful that she did something. Still don't agree with the method, but...I've missed you Archie. A lot." He ran a hand along his face. "Maybe you should try asking Christine out? One date isn't a commitment and it might help you figure out your feelings a little better? That goes for the others too, you know." It was easier to refer to Christian as an 'other' at this point.

"Yeah, well," he sighed. If he could have a break, that'd be great. "At least no one can call me vain, huh?" Art shrugged again. Avoiding the question. He didn't know. That was the only thing he knew. "I don't think I would have pulled you aside to talk if she hadn't. She told me to fix things, and I knew it meant more than just fucking-- speed dating. So I made an effort to do that."
He frowned at his friend. "Hey, no, you are not a nutcase. We all have baggage. Finding someone that accepts us for our flaws is important Archie. So, you think you might like her?" Edgar almost said too, but stopped himself. That was three people. Certainly put a new definition to love-triangle. His brows furrowed some. "Wait, slapped sense into you? How so?"

Get over it. Get past it. Those were the goals during this second date with Amy. She was cute, and they clicked. Easy. As she came into view, he took his hands out of his pockets and smiled, offering up one of them for her to take. "Hey, Dream Girl, how've you been?" She really did look good. He wasn't blind. He just appreciated her making it easier for him to have a good time. "And glad to see me? Have I died and gone to Heaven?" He teased.

When Donovan had asked her out on a date, Amy had been so excited, and then the day of she was so nervous she just kept trying on the few nice clothes she had. Thankfully she started getting ready early on, because it took her a while to finally be out the door of the commune. As soon as she met up with him, she smiled, her cheeks already rosy. “Hi. I’m really glad I get to see you again,” she managed to say despite how shy she was feeling.
