Scary Will Solace things you probably haven't thought about
- Will Solace was the most accomplished battle medic during the Battle of Manhattan. His primary talent is medicine, which, as far as we know, is unique among his siblings, who tend toward music or archery. That said… Will Solace has seen a lot of people die. Painfully.
- Camp Half Blood went from forty (minus Ares cabin) campers at the beginning of the Battle of Manhattan to sixteen able-bodied campers by the end. Will Solace is 13 years old and the new head counselor of Apollo cabin, because everyone older or more experienced than him is dead.
- Being almost singularly responsible for keeping all your friends alive during and after a war is traumatizing, probably. PTSD is a given, particularly since the collective ability of the rest of camp to support Will’s medical efforts dropped as the body count climbed. The Battle of Manhattan lasted 2-3 days.
- Paolo lost both of his arms at some point. In real life, a double arm transplant takes nearly 13 hours and 16 surgeons to complete successfully. Will Solace replaced Paolo’s arms by himself. This probably isn’t the first time he’s replaced someone’s limbs. Or handled intestines. He also reattached Paolo’s sawed off leg.
- First year medical students go to a class called gross anatomy, which involves dissecting cadavers to become familiar with human anatomy. Magic or no magic, you know who else probably had to do this?
- Sometimes you have to re-break bones to set them correctly.
- Reminder that Will probably reserves nectar and ambrosia for people who are actively dying. So him resetting bones is totally a manual thing.
- Will Solace is a year round camper (he’s there in peacetime during January, and with Annabeth during the school-year search for Percy). Either his mother, singer Naomi Solace, is dead, or she doesn’t want to take care of him. We don’t know why.
- Will Solace and Nico Di Angelo let Octavian commit suicide. “Murder by consensus.”
- Post Battle of Camp Half-blood, Will Solace was working in the infirmary for 48 straight hours.
- Will Solace diagnoses people by touching them. He can tell if you have cancer. He can tell if you are having a silent heart attack or are being destroyed internally by parasites. When you die, he can feel your life leaching out of your body. He can feel the darkness in your hands.

“The months he’d spent there with Piper and Leo had felt more satisfying, more right than all his years at Camp Jupiter. Besides, at Camp Half-Blood, there was at least a chance he might meet his father someday. The gods hardly ever stopped by Camp Jupiter to say hello.”

[during the Son of Neptune]
Hazel: What is that?
Percy: That, my dear Hazel, is what we call a monster
Hazel: …
Hazel: You don’t know what it is, do you?
Percy: I told you what it is, it’s a horrible monster. Now shut up before it comes over here and eats us.

Lester Padoapollo? (I give up)
Just thought you might be wondering... where the heck did the name LESTER come from, well Apollo was given the name Lester Papadopoulos (very long and hard to spell :b) when he became mortal. And I was all like... WHAT?
I mean, couldn’t have Rick just called Apollo “Fred” instead?
NOPE!!! I further researched both the name “Lester” and the last name that is impossible to spell (dang you Rick), and found this out:
The last name Papadopoulos (spelled with three c’s one z and the letter seven) means “son of the priest”. I think this is just referencing the fact that the Oracle of Delphi has a priestess, but there might be something I’m missing. Anyway, the name “Lester” is where things start to get more interesting.
The name Lester can be derived from the name of a city Leicester (in Ireland), which got it’s name from the name of a river (I know complicated) “Ligore”... the other part comes form the latin word for camp “castra”. Now this got me thinking... what if one the oracles are located in Camp Jupiter, as it is a camp that has a river (The Little Tiber) on it’s border. I find it perfectly plausible, as the Oracle of Dodona was located in the woods at camp half-blood. Also, I don’t think Zeus would leave Apollo high and dry with no hints.
So... what do you guys think?
~Signing off and hope you have a SUPER nerdy day!

Have you ever wondered...
If Connor and Travis are twins?
WELL THEY ARE NOT! Sorry guys... I just get kind of annoyed when I am talking to people (who haven’t even read the books, but somehow know about Travis and Connor) and they are all like, “so what do you think about the Stoll twins?” Nope, not twins, in fact, Travis is older than Connor just in case you were wondering. There, my rant is finished (these two are my favorite characters from the series, so I am protective).
~Signing off and hope you have a super nerdy rest of your weekend!
