How can I hold onto hope for healing when the trauma is so extensive? I dont even know if there was a time before the trauma, let alone who I was or should have been. Cptsd is a whole different beast, how can I have hope for a life I've never known?

having cats that will sleep next to you on the bed is really cool when you have cptsd
especially because you can use them to determine when you should be worried
like if there is a weird sound but they don't react it is probably a normal random house noise like the ac or whatever so you don't gotta freak out

I think the first step towards the life you want is often to just say yes to more things. Accept that coffee invitation from your coworker even if it seems awkward. Sign up for that free class at the library that you're not sure you'll like. Join that club. Book that tour. Say yes to as many things as you can and kill the part of your brain that gut-reacts with a no.

You don't need to find reasons to explain why something hurts you. If it hurts you, it hurts you and you don't need to justify why it hurts.

This is a legitimate and damaging cultural shift for all involved parties and it needs to be addressed.

You don’t need to prove that you have earned rest. You don’t have to push beyond exhaustion or meet the expectations of others when it comes to their own definition of tiredness. You’re the only person who truly knows what your body feels and when it’s past its limit, and no one gets to tell where your limit should be, or to demand that you go beyond that to “push through”, which just leads to burn out. You’re not lazy, you are exhausted. Let go and rest.

You don't need to feel so much shame all the time. You're allowed to struggle, you're allowed to take breaks, you're allowed to be kind to yourself. Let yourself be <3.
