I loved Your Sky with all my heart but the whole “sea/sky” thing truly threw me off cause it came out of the blue & I feel we missed some important information.
I don’t know if the show was based on a previous written work that has that information, anyone knows?
#this is a lot of important information they could've easily inserted in the show#now the whole sea and sky thing makes so much sense#thank you#your sky the series#your sky

I have other thoughts, but the thing that really kind of destroyed me is that Fah was the one to cry about Rak's dad's violence and homophobia.
Rak spent so long being worried that it would go badly with his parents, that he had less of a reaction to his mom's acceptance than Babe did. He was relieved, but he was still holding himself so tightly together.
Rak didn't cry when his dad lashed out. He shut down a little, but there was no shock or confusion -- he was expecting this. He had convinced himself that this was going to be the outcome.
But Fah had not. Fah didn't doubt his parent's unconditional support, and for all the "meet the parents" nerves, he genuinely didn't think that there was going to be anything other than that same acceptance from Rak's family.
Fah is the one shocked when Rak's dad gets angry, when he won't listen, when he has to leave Rak behind.
Fah is the one who goes home and cries, who is scared and confused and worried.
I love that a break up was never on the table. I love that Rak stood up for himself and kept trying to advocate for himself and Fah. I love that Grandpa and Mom put Dad in his place.
But Fah being the one to cry hurt.
Not just Fah, though.
Mom cries and gets mad. Babe is upset. Grandpa is upset.
Lee and Ghlai are upset.
Everyone is visibly upset and confused, except for Rak.
Rak was prepared to face rejection from his family, and he came out anyway. Because Fah helped him be braver.
Rak doesn't cry until his dad apologizes, until he has his dad's acceptance and understanding and his wishes for a happy future.
He doesn't cry until the expected negative consequences of being out to his family are no longer a risk. That's when he let's himself feel relief, and feel all the hurt and anger and confusion and resentment. After he gets to explain himself. After he gets to say why Fah is important to him, and defend himself properly.
After he gets to be understood.
But that numbness, that swoop of fear before you come out to someone new, that pause before the words will come, and the shut down when it goes in an unexpected direction? That was so viscerally relatable.
But so was Fah's pain, his frustration at not being able to help the person he loves. His willingness to sacrifice his happiness to make Rak's life easier...
Ugh, I just love them.
This (mostly) sweet, fluffy little show came out of nowhere with this achingly accurate depiction of queerness, and I am delighted and surprised in the best ways.

i remember seeing this one video on youtube where a girl was talking about how her mom had treated her like shit. she hated her for it. but she eventually learned to accept it and live with it by thinking that maybe, in a lot of ways, her mom was hurt too. maybe the world was hard on her too and that’s why she was like that. that if she were in her place, she too wouldn’t be so kind.
this scene reminded me of that. what teerak said was not anything similar, but it makes you think how kids always try to understand their parents and find a reason for why they are the way they are. like teerak, some even end up creating this narrative that it was their fault. because somehow, it’s easier that way.

throughout this whole thing, he kept asking people if they understood him, but he couldn’t extend the same understanding to his son
