I am truly a giggler. A laugher. A chuckler. Just somewhere in the background snickering.

A week before Indian Independence Day, a post graduate student doctor was found dead in her hospital seminar hall in RG Kar medical college, kolkata.

She was found semi-nude, bleeding from her eyes, mouth and genitals. The hospital told her parents that it was a suicide.

The autopsy shows that it was a gang rape. The Kolkata Police found one(1) culprit, who was a civic volunteer for the police.

A mob broke through the police barrier and vandalised the emergency room and the crime scene, destroying the evidence. On Independence Day.

At every stage of this investigation, it becomes clearer how this country has failed its people. The hospitals are not safe spaces. The police are just covers for criminals. The justice system is not providing justice.

Who should we trust? The people who enforce the law while breaking it? The people who hide behind politics to delay justice?

If the people we go to when we are wounded and ill are not safe themselves, where do we go?

We already knew women are not safe. We hoped that it would get better, but as the years pass and these cases and injustices pile up, it only seems to get worse.

What is left to take from us?

And if our country goes on like this: What will be left, period?

in recent events of that zoo losing the clouded leopard, it reminded me of the time i went to a large petting zoo and there was a free roaming little black sheep. cutest little guy i ever saw, soi went to the zookeeper nearby and said ‘i think its really cute how you have a sheep thats allowed to just walk around. ‘ then the zookeepers eyes widened and he grabbed his walky talky and ran
