there’s something endlessly hilarious to me about the phrase “hotly debated” in an academic context. like i just picture a bunch of nerds at podiums & one’s like “of course there was a paleolithic bear cult in Northern Eurasia” and another one just looks him in the eye and says “i’l kill you in real life, kevin”

I hate sleep

But I love going to sleep.

Sleep is time stolen from you. Sleep is necessary. Sleep is a debt you have to pay.

Going to sleep is different. Going to sleep is the most comfortable your bed will ever be. Going to sleep is something to look forward to and an experience to enjoy.

In sleep the best you can hope for is to remember your dreams. With practice you can get better at that but it takes effort. And it's only ever going to be a memory. You can't trust a memory.

When you're going to sleep you have control over what you think about. You get a break from all your responsabilities.

You know what my favorite feeling is? Waking up, looking at the clock, and seeing that you still have like 4 hours of sleep time left. That means you get to go back to sleep. You get to go to sleep twice in one night. What a gift!

You know what else is great? When you've been up for way too long and you're so exhausted and then you get to finally go to sleep. That is such a magical feeling.

What happens next is just time lost. You can't do anything. For parts of it your body is literally frozen. You don't even have control over your brain.

It's weird to enjoy so much the journey to a place you hate so much.
