saw a bunch of comments on tik tok from people saying they passed out or threw up today from fasting for yom kippur and y’all!!! please don’t stretch yourself this far!!!!!! PLEASE if you are fasting do NOT allow yourself to get to the point where you’re losing consciousness or vomiting. take a water bottle and/or juice and small snack with you even if you plan on fully fasting, and if you feel yourself getting woozy or nauseous then break your fast. and if you haven’t fasted before, then don’t jump right into a full 26 hour fast. start slow and build up to it. it gets easier when you recognize what your body can and can’t handle, but again if you’re fasting and start to feel ill, you are not only welcome to but obligated to break your fast. it’s a mitzvah to do so if your health is affected.

i’ve started looking at weight and health the way i look at class and income and it really puts a lot of things into a new perspective.
let me explain: in america at least, the lower class have significantly worse health outcomes, even when accounting for other factors. just being poor is enough to make your overall health worse. we don’t know that being fat makes your health directly worse, like the data just isn’t there, but for a moment, pretend it does.
imagine going to the doctor with a health problem and the doctor looking at your chart and saying well, this problem will be less severe if you go up an income bracket. have you thought about becoming rich? it would really help. start by saving a little money every month.
ridiculous, right?? very few people successfully go from working class to rich, it just doesn’t happen on a large scale in society. maybe for a time you pick up some overtime hours, spend a little beyond your means, and appear rich. but eventually you burn out, your car needs to be repaired, and you return to being working class.
we do have this data: only some people can successfully lose large amounts of weight, and only a tiny fraction of people who lose that weight actually keep it off for more than a year. telling people to lose weight for their health is just absurd because they almost certainly can’t do it any more than they can double their income for their health.
and yet i see it everywhere. a little poster in my work breakroom tells me to improve my blood pressure by losing weight! a psa on the radio says you need to take care of your heart by losing weight! we can’t even conclusively prove that weight is the cause rather than just correlated with a lot of these problems but here it is offered anyway: have you tried being rich?

y'all we (leftists) gotta stop making jokes about how xyz group of people (who did not chose to be part of said group) need to be oppressed, or how we should bully xyz group of people, or kill all xyz. both because I guaruntee people who are oppressed are already in that group, and because we are borrowing the rhetoric of the people who are saying that shit about us. even if its a joke, its still acting like bullying people, oppressing people, killing people, all for traits they cannot change is literally ever a good thing to do. i dont care if a trans person was mean to you or if you think French people are pretentious or that men are evil for being men or whatever wild justification you have for why you acting like an asshole is good and fine and praxis, actually. i dont care. theyre still people. solidarity is the only way. we have to stick together, and imitating assholes isnt the way to do that

so i keep seeing posts talking about transandrophobes excusively and don't use any other terms to describe them other than that specific language and they still get people in the notes saying:
"actually, i know a lot of trans women they're very chill actually"
like i'm sorry why did you immediately assume that's who they were talking about. transadrophobe =/= trans woman that is quite literally not what's being said here bestie, that's a whole new sentence.
transandrophobia is not specific to any label or category of person, just like homophobia or sexism is not limited to just one kind of person. everyone is capable of any kind of hate or persecution. forgetting that is disingenuous and effectively halts any productive conversation we can have on any topic.

“We met on a dating site twelve years ago. I sent her a message saying: ‘I want to let you know up front that I’m in a wheelchair, because I can’t hide it.’ And she wrote back: ‘Why? Is it bright yellow?’”

I've been bedridden for the last 7 months, unable to work, and now my roommate who was covering rent is having tax issues. I need to raise a few thousand dollars to cover rent and bills for this month, so If you could send a couple dollars, it'd really help. Thanks so much.

A 'no questions asked' food pantry means no questions asked.
When we're stocking our pantry, we are not looking at a person's clothes or their accessories or what kind of car they drove there in. We are HAPPY to see it BEING USED AT ALL.
I don't know anyone's situation. Maybe they got that designer bag at a thrift shop. Maybe its a knockoff. Maybe it was a gift. Maybe they got it when they had money and now they don't have money. Maybe they're getting stuff for a friend.
Maybe they have plenty of money, don't need to be taking stuff from the pantry, but they are anyway because we said-
NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Do you know what happens when someone takes from our pantry when they don't need it? We're down one item. But maybe they tell someone that the pantry is there. Or maybe they come back to it when they need it. Or maybe they throw a dollar in the donation box. Or maybe they put an item on the shelf. Or maybe they come to our food drive.
WE DONT CARE.
We don't care who used it.
We care that it was used.
Im not a cop. Don't make me do cop stuff, I wont do it.

intersectionality is about the intersection of systemic oppressions, not the intersection of "identities" or "experiences". there is no intersection that includes manhood because there is no systemic oppression of manhood to intersect with anything.
Kimberlé Crenshaw, the black feminist who coined the term intersectionality, uses it in her essay to critique the oppression black women face from both activist communities they ought to be part of; white feminists are racist, and black antiracists are misogynist. and black women are left with no one but each other, and the intersections of these two oppressions creates a third kind of oppression: misogynoir.
the reason transandrophobia (or transmisandry or antitransmasculinity or isomisia or whatever else the word of the day is) doesnt exist as a form of oppression is because there is no oppression of manhood, there's nothing to intersect with. the oppression trans men face absolutely exists and is real, but it is not unique, and it is not oppression for being men, its transphobia.
to claim that there exists, in any form, a systemic oppression of manhood is an inherently antifeminist argument, and you can look at the ways your fellows in the transandrophobia tag treat transfems to see the truth of that

this year i'm working for the Reproductive Freedom Fund of NH and wanted to post their donation box for the Queer Care fund, which helps uninsured, low-income people access gender affirming care, transportation, etc. some examples would be covering the cost of a laser session, covering the fee for a legal name change, or driving someone to an HRT appointment
donate + find more info at the link below
