get your nostalgia glasses off, there's nothing more oversexualized than 80s-90s anime lol.. back then the industry was absolutely dominated by male creators
I'd argue that anime nowadays is generally less sexualized than back then in part by having a huge amount of female creators spread across a variety of genres. Case in point the "2020s anime girl" character in the OP is designed by a women.. and is an actual 7 year old child..
I will not elaborate.

"Lorde talking about being at war in her body"
How can you misinterpret lyrics that hard..
I was so lost in my head
And scared to be in your pictures
'Cause for the last couple years
I've been at war with my body
I tried to starve myself thinner
And then I gained all the weight back
first off the song itself is broadly talking about womanhood so it's extra disingenuous to reach the conclusion... she's just clearly going through body issues... even more clear by reading what she wrote in a newsletter a while back:

really love this tweet in response to people saying lorde is on a "gender expression journey" because she posted photos of herself not wearing makeup. it's basically succinctly framed this issue in a way I feel like we've all thought of but I personally haven't seen articulated quite this way. the way people label some female celebs as potential future trans men isn't just because they think woman = femininity and man = masculinity and gender non-conformity = trans, or because of the homophobia and lesbophobia inherent to gender ideology — though obviously these things are all part of it. it's because women's natural faces and bodies existing in public literally reminds everyone that they're people. and women don't get to be people.
