“If I knew where the good songs were, I’d go there more often. It’s a mysterious condition. It’s much like the life of a Catholic nun. You’re married to a mystery.” ― Leonard Cohen

my room decoration
The first two quotes are from Thomas Keating, in his "Intimacy with God", and the last ones are from Thomas Merton, from his "The Sign of Jonas". The embroidery was done by my talented girlfriend, with one of the songs we exchanged when we started dating, "Corcovado", Nara's version.
In the photo with the books, Our Lady of Aparecida, patron saint of Brazil and "Generalíssima" from our Army. I don't know how to translate this last one, but it's something like  Commander in chief.

The Ark and the Boat: A Reflection on Structures and Trust — What Pope Francis Taught Me
I understand and even like the image of Noah’s Ark as a prefiguration of the Church, the Boat of Peter, but the covenant that Christ makes is deeper. Noah’s family was with him, but they turned to the Ark only for safety. Like the animals, they wanted to survive the Flood. Obviously, there’s no problem with that.
However, Christ’s invitation has a different origin. Specifically, those who were with Jesus were with Him because they loved Him, even unto martyrdom. Jesus’ invitation wasn’t through the fear of a Flood, but rather an invitation to communion with Him and with the Father. (...)
Peter was made the head of the Church, but he never had an Ark. Peter was a humble fisherman from the region of Galilee. His boat wasn’t made to be an Ark, for a very simple reason: Noah’s family trusted in the Ark and its structures; the family that would gather around Peter was to trust in the One who calms the storms, who walks on water, and who fills the boat with fish in a miraculous act.
Peter’s boat will always be fragile; it was never made to be an Ark — it’s just a boat. All the strength and security of Peter’s boat comes from Christ. (By the way, it’s better that it’s always fragile, so we won’t trust in the structures themselves.)
What am I trying to say with this story?
