thinkin about how even though kara refused to ever touch a piano again after her dad left, music is still such an inherent piece of her soul... see the way she can instantly recognise a piece by like. a bar or two. i extrapolate this to a lot of things (combined with my adhd "headcanon" which is really just 100% canon fight me), like tapping out rhythms at the triad table or even sometimes in the cockpit, having perfect pitch, etc... idk man many thoughts head full.

she doesn't, of course; the president doesn't owe kara thrace anything at all. if their positions had been reversed, kara would have done the same thing, except that she wouldn't have missed. it was pragmatic, it was ruthless in the precise way that roslin has made her name on, and kara would respect her for it in another life. it takes work not to bring their hand up to the fingerprints bruising purple along the column of their neck, remembering the full force of the old man's hatred, remembering how aligned the two of them are, now.

" i don't wanna hear this, " she says, standing up - a flurry of motion and hurt, teeth bared like an animal, like the guts of that raider she spoke salvation into all those years ago. of course this isn't reciprocal, of course that intimate trust is kara's alone, devotion sour in her chest but there, still, because this is the president and kara is a no-name frak-up, back from the dead, an impossible liability. don't draw it out into the sun, laura. don't make her look at it head on.

"kara," laura says quietly; she's not behind her desk, instead perched on the edge of it, her arms folded across her chest. she wants no barriers between them, determined to ensure there can be no confusion, no chance that kara might think roslin is trying to distance herself.
