WHAT EXACTLY ARE THE TATTOOS THAT GAVE HIM AWAY!!! Because I live in a (mostly) pretty liberal area, so I see all kinds of bald folks. And tatted bald folks. But I've never thought one was a skinhead??

today's walk took an unexpected turn when we had to rescue 45 (!!!) snapping turtle hatchlings from the road by the park. while not many of a clutch are meant to survive, the nissan rogue is not a natural predator so today they got a little help. ❤️

An: In between writing my bigger series, I thought I´d drop a little drabble! It´s meant to be a little silly, so don´t take it all too seriously, hehe! I hope you all enjoy, and thank you as always for reading!

You don´t remember how you got there, nor knew what you were doing there – but one day you woke up, dazed and groggy, in a large, fucking scary, forest.

As you wandered about calling for help, (your cellphone had no service), you were found by the woodland elves, and they brought you before the king

You had somehow piqued his curiosity. Perhaps it was all this talk of foreign words that he had never heard, such as "phone," "calling police," and saying that you felt like "Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz", whatever that meant.

Who was that wizard? Where was Oz? Thranduil needed to know.

The guards tried to convince him that you probably had a bad fall and suffered from head injuries – but the healers found no proof of damage

Thranduil had ordered for the guards to keep you safe (because lets face it, Middle Earth is dangerous enough for people who know what they´re doing... you, on the other hand, had no clue)

He took you under his wings to learn about you and your world, but as time passed, you started seeing the smaller problems of being taken away from your world (except for... you know, the big stuff)

"What do you mean you don´t brush your teeth??" You asked the king after you had stormed to his throne late one evening in your evening attire (which proved way too large, as the elves were a fair bit taller than you)

Thranduil had chuckled at seeing you drowned in the clothes they had provided, he then raised his eyebrows "brush our...teeth?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his tone.

"Yes-! I know for a fact that your breath does not stink. So? How do you clean your teeth?" you tried to make yourself clear, frustration dripping from every word.

None of the other elves had understood you and your rambling about toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental care, so you were now desperate.

God. You were missing several aspects of your modern life's hygiene.

Thranduil could not help himself; he had to laugh as he listened to your words (a sound which was not often heard within these halls)

Upon your explanation, he managed to get one of his craftsmen to fashion something that looked like a poor attempt at a modern toothbrush – you, however, took what you could.

Another time, when you had been stopped from entering the woods, Thranduil expressed the wish for you to stay indoors and not enter the forest with guards, let alone on your own.

"That´s pretty sexist"

"....excuse me?"

"What, because I´m a woman, I can´t be on my own?"

"Not because you are a woman, Hiril Vuin, because you are...you"

"Oh."

You had been quite humbled quite quickly.

"So... It´s not because I´m a woman?"

"That is the thinking of men, not of elves."

"Right, no, of course. Stupid men-" you tried to joke it off.

Thranduil raised his eyebrows

"You are very strange," he spoke, not as an insult, but as an appreciation

"Yeah, they say that at home too," you chuckled

"It is nothing but good, Hiril Vuin."

As time passed by, the elves still could not figure out where you came from nor how you got there,

But Thranduil did not need much explanation.. He was quite pleased you were there, and he found it a blessing that he had found someone within the halls to bring some light to his dark realm.

Well, he usually found it a blessing, except for when you quoted and referenced films and literature from your world that he would of course not understand, and you would have to explain it to him

And you did not explain it very well

"Well, no, Harry is not a real wizard, he is a fantasy figure"

"So who are the real wizards of your realm? Are they only in Oz?"

"No- Oz is not real. It is a fictional place."

Thranduil started getting quite acquainted with the ceilings, with how often he rolled his eyes when he heard of your world

But other than that, he did enjoy listening to the stories you told him of your life at home.

And the amount of life and joy you had.. it was refreshing.

He could get used to having you around.
