I wrote a little scenario below, not specifically as Donn&Brianna interaction, but rather what happens if PC helps out Robin at their lemonade stand and encounters Donn!

You spot a familiar figure across the street.

It’s Donn.

He’s out of uniform, sitting on a bench and drinking beer. Even from afar you can see torn skin and bruises around his knuckles. His pink mohawk is sleeked back for a change, and he is dressed in alternative fashion with spikes.

Despite onlookers glancing at him for his state of dress, he doesn’t seem bothered by that.

The can looks comedically small in his hand, and he empties it in three chugs.

You think about offering him Robin’s lemonade.

If successful:

“Fine, ran outta drinks anyway.” He shrugs and takes the glass from your hand. You sit down next to him with your own lemonade, and watch him drink.

He doesn’t comment on it, but he keeps drinking as you try to do some smalltalk. Donn doesn’t seem to mind, although his answers don’t tell you much about him.

“So this is what you do in your free time? Sell lemonade like a little kid with your buddy?” He suddenly says mockingly, watching Robin from where you sit. You notice he’s been staring at them almost the entire time.

On 5: On a funnier random opinion note , He hates salt and vinegar on chips. He thinks it’s disgusting as hell and would be willing to fight people that like it. Same goes for vinegar and salt flavored chips. Hates it. He can eat vinegar in a salad, but on anything else? Disgusting. If you straight up drink vinegar you could probably make him puke just from watching.

On a more serious note, he doesn’t speak to cops. Doesn’t matter if the person he hates is searched for and they ask about them, he won’t tell. Doesn’t speak to authorities, even if they’d help him, he’d rather figure shit out himself.

Same goes for Bailey btw, even if one of the orphans steals Donn’s shit, or escapes, or fights him off, he isn’t gonna run and tell Bailey even if he’d get his money back. Bailey asks him where some orphan is and he’ll shrug and be like “wouldn’t you like to know weather boy”.

Ironically, he’d still work as Bailey’s muscle, but once the orphan manages to ditch that’s as far as Donn considers his work. Everything after that isn’t his problem anymore.

On 14: He’d probably rather rip his arm off and flog himself with it than admit he needs help LMAO

Exception is when he’s drunk, he doesn’t care to burden his friends with getting him home/somewhere when he’s wasted, but if it’s about genuine things like being sick, or wounded, nuh uh. You better be ready to knock him out to patch up that wound. Man could get shot and he’d rather go lay down in an alleyway to die like a stray dog than ask for help.

Ironically the only person Donn would accept “help” from is Bailey. As much as he hates him, he’s still something like a big brother to him (he knows Bailey from before he became the caretaker). After Donn ended in prison he pretty much has the feeling Bailey dropped him entirely since he acts like a total stranger with him, but somewhere deep down he hopes he still somewhat cares if he’d be dead or alive.

To 8. : Donn isn‘t much of a materialistic guy, and he tends to get rid of things before fully thinking it through (destroying it or tossing it out when he‘s upset), but something he‘d never throw out is actually his prison jumpsuit! It‘s a reminder for him where his “roots“ are, of his friends he still has on the island, of the Scarred Prisoner - he’s doing better adjusting to Doltown outside of the island, but some days he still misses prison because it was much simpler, and he was pretty much as far away from town as he’ll ever get.

Something Donn doesn’t like but will never get rid of is the branding from Remy’s farm on his back. By now he could’ve gotten rid of it through the hospital/Harper, but he still has it. In a morbid way it reminds him of how “weak” he used to be, and something he literally doesn’t want to look back on. It’s kinda like a reminder to never go back to how he used to be.

To 20:

His prison jumpsuit, again lmao. It’s a weirdly comforting piece of clothing even tho it’s uncomfortable, scratchy, and probably too tight around the shoulders - he usually wears it with the top down.

Otherwise he prefers wearing tank tops because he heats up fast, and whatever pants that are clean enough to leave the house with. Most of his pants merged together because if there’s holes in them he’ll cut a different pair up to patch them, rinse and repeat and now he has like. 3 pairs of pants. He’ll also just wear whatever else he gets his hands on and fits, being that tall and massive makes buying cheap clothing difficult and he usually gets second hand clothing (also difficult at his height).

Physical pain is no issue for Donn, in fact he‘s kinda out for it. His way of self-harm basically, except he doesn’t hurt himself but lets others do that job. It‘s not even because he gets off from it, deep down he probably just thinks he deserves to get beaten every once in a while. Being self aware that you‘re a piece of shit kinda does that to you if you still have a guilty conscious.

It‘s also why he‘s out for a fight whenever he gets out with his crew. Nice saturday afternoon activity, kick people‘s ass and get his ass kicked in return. Basically this is Donn at the pub every other night

As for love language, it’s definitely acts of service, but in the most backhanded doubtful way. You can’t tell if he likes you or if he’s mocking you pretending to care because he will call you a little shit in the same sentence. He also tends to pat people too hard, and his grip usually hurts. Underestimates his strength or is an asshole, you never know (it’s both).

As for how he’d comfort people one can imagine being an orphan & spending most of your adulthood inside prison on a desolated island isn’t exactly the best way to learn how to be social! Prison formed most of Donn‘s behavior, including the fact you don’t show weakness or vulnerability lmao

He knows vulnerability pretty well, growing up being the lowest rank of Dol society as an orphan he knows what it‘s like to be at your lowest and worst moments in life and he‘d act very similarly to what he (thinks) he would’ve wanted back then: Ignore your tears, make a joke, give a pat on the back and move on.

That‘s at least how he thinks he should act, because ofc worse than being pitied is being seen as weak. He‘d try to „comfort“ by pretending that was nothing, you‘re gonna get back up and move on, not talk about it and that‘s it.

Truthfully, the reason he thinks that‘s what he would’ve wanted is that he got indoctrinated that allowing to be comforted is a sign of weakness as well - so ofc he‘d rather have someone move on like nothing happened. Since he jumped to stuff like that, that‘s what friends did with him. Don’t ask, don’t talk, don’t acknowledge.

If that won’t help with someone he genuinely cares about, he‘d become more genuine. Not in an affectionate or heartfelt way, he isn’t exactly good with being comforting - he‘d more speak honestly about how shitty this town is, no cynicism. People here suck, the mentality sucks, he knows you know that better than other people. He isn’t exactly helping either, because atp he probably bought you a few times or was just an asshole in general to you. I’ll go by order of familiarity for this one, so for

Strangers: A brute, through and through. If he’s surrounded by his crew, they’re the type to walk into a bar and you just know they’ll cause some fight. Doesn’t matter with who or why, if there isn’t a reason Donn is gonna create one. What are you gonna do about it. Fight him?? Man up and get to it then. He’s like a foot taller than you probably and can pick you up like a child. Probably toss you like one too.

Altogether, strangers don’t have a good first impression of him, and he doesn’t care to give one. He does sometimes switch to the other side of the boardwalk tho if the person in front of him seems anxious walking.

Colleagues: The dock members that aren’t part of his crew probably hate his ass because there’s always some bullshit happening with him. Wdym we have to clean up suspicious body fluids in a container. Donn get your dick out of that person you’re still on the clock. Why do I have to do this dude’s job just because he disappeared for 20 minutes down the deck. How is he getting paid more than me.

Friends: A ruffian with a somewhat good heart, except when he’s being a horrible person. In Doltown everyone probably is and there is no perception of consent but sometimes you get hit by a “man, that’s really fucked up” when you listen to Donn talk. And then he’ll bust your ass out of prison with Wren because you are his karaoke buddy and he needs someone to do the rap part of “Bleeding Out” since transitioning from Chester’s part to Mike’s rap is kinda difficult.

Family: He doesn’t have one (being an orphan and all that) so I’m making it

Orphans: If you’ve ever wanted to experience whiplash without a car crash, tell Donn you’re an orphan (from Bailey’s orphanage). Whatever relationship you had before to him is gonna change massively because now he knows you are at the very end of the food chain, no one cares about you (except Bailey so he’ll get his money), the police won’t help you and you essentially offered yourself on a silver tray to him. For ppl that remarked that he seems to have some genuine care/guilt/regret about participating in the orphans abuse: Y’all are 100% correct, Donn does actually struggle (but denies that) to see himself as one of the people that used to torment him. To your question, he can absolutely be met when working at the docks! He’s one of the more experienced dockers who’ll help guide you into your job essentially, show you the ropes and whatnot. While he isn’t exactly a supervisor, due to him being considered the “boss” of the more rowdy crew, he holds a certain respect by everyone else - basically if he wants to he can cause serious trouble and make workers revolt, which the actual supervisors want to avoid. Having experience with prison riots and whatnot helps.

You can also spot him at night talking to Wren (the event where he catches you holding a gun), or loading/unloading suspiciously large human-noise making cargo. Usually if you leave him alone he leaves you alone, but if you try to befriend the dockers and earn your respect, there’s no way around Donn - he’s gotta see for himself if you’re cut out to become part of his crew after all.

Chances are though if you become part of his crew, you can get your ass saved from Briar’s brothel (they’re more or less regulars and will free you if you’re stuck in the gloryholes and they happen to be there), or if you swim too far out Donn is gonna reel you back in by boat.

Your alcohol tolerance is also gonna get a massive boost, or your kidney is gonna fail. Either way, you’re drinking with them.

Finally got around to coloring him a little, and a somewhat short introduction to how PC would meet him at the pub (if they know him from the docks beforehand).

More rambling below the cut.

He is a punk, but less in a common fashion sense. He just wears whatever he has available regardless of occasion or how people look at him - he likes to adjust his clothes and be creative, but he isn’t out for it to look good or perfect.

His favourite color is pink, and he cuts and dyes his hair regularly (on his own, so it doesn’t look that great lmao). Same goes for painting his nails, they’re usually chipped in whatever color he had before.

For example he’ll also just wear his old prison jumpsuit even if he gets weird glances lmao.

He’s also absurdly tall and weighs over 250 pounds.

Also. He obv doesn’t live in the orphanage anymore, but still in the same street (cheap rent). PC can stumble upon him when knocking at the door to work. What happens after that really depends on his mood and the PC lmao.

Fun fact, he’s a big fan of karaoke and will spent every friday night at an irish pub doing just that.

how was donn's stay in prison? was he well-behaved or defiant?

He was very defiant, poor guy CANNIT accept authority for the life of him and I imagine that he got that beaten into him from the guards and possibly other inmates. Donn fr came into the prison thinking he could keep acting like he did in town, but there were bigger fish than him in there - he was pretty much a brat compared to ppl like the Scarred Prisoner, who more or less took him “under his wing” aka Donn was his bitch for the first year until they genuinely started to get along (and Donn put on like 100 pounds of muscle mass).

Prison is also how he met Wren at the beach, and how he started up some of his smuggling business - in the first year Donn wanted nothing more than escape, but by the time he and the Scarred prisoner got along/had something of a “romance”, he sort of began to see prison as his home. He got three meals a day (unlike with Bailey), equipment to work out, significantly less assaults due to the Scarred Prisoners protection, and actually someone he felt like cares about him (however true that might be). Sure he ended up in those weirdass mines, and had to walk around naked a bunch of times, and also got forced into prostitution but that’s nothing new compared to town.

Truth is, by the time Donn was released from prison, he’d rather stay on that island than come back to DoL town and deal with Bailey, he built his entire social circle up in there after all.

So when he got out he actually ended up as a drunkard in pubs, tried to look for reasons to get send back to prison until Wren picked him up a little out of pity and got his sorry bum a job at the docks when he was 24, and Donn has since (somewhat) become better being surrounded by the Dockers who’s respect he earned. He wants to do visitation days, but seeing how the Scarred Prisoner won’t even see his own sibling, Donn knows he won’t see him either (and realistically, he’s probably moved on to someone else anyways.)
