I like big balls and I can not lie You other yarners can’t deny that when you buy string with an itty bitty price and soft thing against your face, You get strung.

Two different yarns dyed with Wilton’s Violet icing paste.
The first one is a lovely smooth undyed superwash merino yarn I picked up at the Kädentaidot 2014 fair. The label didn’t have any weight info, but it feels like a DK or a light worsted yarn. There’s 120 grams in the hank.
I dyed about half of the hank in the cooking pot, using Wilton’s Violet icing paste mixed with hot water, and Dr Oetker’s liquid blue food coloring. The other half I dyed in the microwave, by squirting little amounts of purple dye here and there on the undyed half of the hank and then microwaving for 2 minutes. I rinsed it and let it dry, then dyed the hand-painted portion of the yarn in the cooking pot using diluted Violet and some blue. I haven’t figured out what to knit using this yarn, yet.
The second yarn is Novita Joki - an aran weight 100% wool yarn, not superwash treated. I had two skeins, 50 grams each. I used a combination of kettle dyeing and microwave dyeing, with a method similar to the merino yarn. The yarn was light gray to begin with. The yarn felted a little in the dye bath, but that’s okay. I’ll probably make a pair of mittens using this yarn.
