The Bridgerton Brothers proving that just because someone is a “spinster” doesn’t mean they are unmarriageable, is my favorite thing at the moment

Polin's little Honeymoon Period during their engagement makes me so emotional every time because, yes, the Lady Whistledown thing is hanging over them so Penelope can't fully bask in it, but COLIN? Colin is all in, floating on cloud 9, deliriously happy.
It's so obvious that this is everything Colin has ever wanted coming true. He so clearly has wanted love, and marriage, and a home of his own. Traveling, while a personal goal of his, something he had a passion for, was never his Be All End All purpose and he was aware of that from season one. I mean, he was willing to put his travel plans on hold indefinitely to marry Marina.
Colin Bridgerton has always wanted love, and a family of his own. Other male leads have fought against love and marriage (not a bad thing, just a thing) but Colin embraces them eagerly. His mask falls entirely after the carriage scene and he is so genuinely earnest with Penelope when expressing his feelings. Kissing her hand, doing things just to make her laugh, even the way he speaks to her is so gentle and tender. And he's so /happy/. Even when he's worried that Penelope doesn't return his feelings, even when he knows there is something off, he literally cannot help but be over the moon every time he's around her, is so in love with her that anyone with eyes could see it.

These lines (first from the films, thereafter from the books) taught me something profoundly essential about how to be there for a friend, a lover, or a loved one when they are consumed by despair, weighed down by grief, or overwhelmed by the weight of mental torment. It taught me that some burdens are sacredly personal; untransferable tasks that each of us must face in our own time and way.
Yet, while we cannot take their pain or carry their burden for them (no matter how much we wish we could), there is something else we can do. While we cannot lift their burden, we can lift them. We can carry their weary body, their weary heart, as they bear the weight of their pain. In doing so, we offer them a sanctuary — a place of care and safety, where they can begin to confront their hurt without the fear of being alone in its gaze.
While the pain may be theirs to bear, the journey through it need not be traveled in solitude.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, I love you.

I’ll never forget that Luke Newton is half of what made this season so successful. I know people like to forget, or act like he’s an afterthought or a plus one. But he sold me on Polin since “What a barb,” he made believable chemistry during the promo tour that drove people wild (too wild, but that’s another story) and he made such magic during the season that even his fingers went viral. He deserves credit for the wonderful work he’s done, and wonderful actor he is. 🩵🩵🩵
