much less alarmed by the 'cognitive impact' of LLM use than I am by the fact that so many people apparently believe your brain can atrophy or permanently lose function in the space of four months because you used fancy sparknotes to write a couple of essays

Hey dude. I noticed that you seem to be having a lot of symbolic association with the ouroboros icon and I just wanted to know if you were like. ok. or like, that you're experiencing time linearly and not stuck in an eternal loop of the same events.

Please don’t take your pets for granted. Even if you’re frustrated that your dog has been barking all day or your bird has been screaming for attention, remember you are all they have in this world. Give your fish that extra water change. Give your dog or cat that tummy rub they’ve been begging for. Chop up some fresh fruit as a treat for your rodents or reptiles. Just spend some time with them. Be compassionate to your animals. They are living creatures that are alive simply because you wish them to be. They may only be a small part in your life, but to them, you are their everything.

I love that photo of Martin and Bosco playing at the water park. Every time I see it it makes my day. Do you have any other favourite photos of them together, if you're up for sharing? I totally understand if you don't feel up to it tho, so no pressure!
Thank you! It's so cool that you enjoy the blaze photo too.
I love these candid photos of Martin and Bosco. They were always having conversations with each other.

cold case is so fucking weird because it'll be like. cops in the past were evil and racist and homophobic. and frankly cops in the present are also pretty evil and racist and homophobic. but our guys aren't like that, they're nice <3. except for vera, he's still pretty evil and homophobic and hates women. but don't worry his bigotry is totally benign! also sometimes our guys will do the same shit that the evil cops that we criticize do, but our guys have biblically accurate flashbacks vindicating their actions, so we know the guy they're beating a confession out of actually did it and totally deserves it! it's only bad when other cops do it. our guys only do the good kind of police brutality so it's all totally fine and good. don't worry about it

You really, really don't need to be cheerleading Disney and Universal here. It honestly doesn't matter how much you dislike AI art — if the court rules in favor of the corporations, the implicit expansion of copyright law will do a million times more harm to the arts than fucking Midjourney ever could.
Like. There is no definition of copyright that does not permit AI training, but does permit fanworks. The latter is much more clearly derivative than the former. You do fanart? Fanfic? Disney's pointing a gun squarely at your head and you're cheering because it might hit the AI artists behind you too.
And beyond that, do you know what happens to AI generation if Disney/Universal win this? They aren't opposed to the technology in principle! They'll be able to use their exclusive rights to a vast corpus of art to make their own AI, for their own purposes. Who does this help? Companies who want to reduce employment costs and disenfranchise the working artist. Who does this hurt? Well, it hurts independent AI users. Congrats, your anxiety over commission prices is gone now, not that it was well-founded to begin with. It also hurts anyone who wants to make use of fair use doctrine forever, so I hope none of what you were selling was fanart of copyrighted characters.
I've never made a secret of being rather more open to generative AI as a technology than most people in these online spheres. But for fuck's sake, you really don't need to like AI to realize that this lawsuit's success would be a terrible thing to happen to art! If you've found yourself on the same side as Disney, that should be a clue that you might wanna review your thinking!

i think the bibliography from this faq is an interesting start: https://pasleciel.substack.com/p/an-antipsychiatry-faq I liked the book "psychiatry and the business of madness" by Bonnie Burstow. I haven't read her other stuff yet, but i've been interested in "the revolt against psychiatry: a counterhegemonic dialogue", "shrink resistant: the struggle against psychiatry in canada", "psychiatry interrogated: an institutional ethnography anthology", "understanding and ending ECT: a feminist imperative" Though it's not focused on antipsych, I love the article "suicidism: a new theoretical framework to conceptualize suicide from an anti-oppressive perspective" by Alexandre Baril. and other ressources:
https://www.psychsurvivorarchive.com/resources
https://drive.proton.me/urls/3J3MJ25G1W#B11oqUxEcX6d (ressources on harm reduction, mad pride, etc)
i need book/article recommendations related to to anti-psychiatry. i’m feeling my beliefs around the mental health system shift and i’d like some form of anchor. any good reads on the topic would be greatly appreciated!

JSTOR for those of us who stupidly forgot to use your resources for personal research while enrolled in college classes, what can we do??? Google isn’t enough especially with the en 💩 ification of the 2020s
Here are a few options!
Check with your school's library to determine whether or not they offer alumni access.
Check with your local public library to see if they offer JSTOR access. Sometimes they offer on-site access, sometimes remote.
If you register for a personal account, you can read a limited number of articles per month for free!
We offer individual subscriptions under JPASS, with monthly or annual plans.

I think that relying too much in LLMs can indeed harm your capacity for learning, in the same way that poor systems of learning (rote memorization, just copying whatever without thinking) can. Learning is a thing you need... to learn. Even LLMs can be a useful tool for learning as long as you have a good learning strategy.
That paper that says that AIs cause COGNITIVE ATROPHY is still unreviewd and smells so much of bullshit that I'm tearing up from here. Do not share it uncritically.

im still on the rooftop you guys. im on the rooftop with john in a bombvest and harold unbuttoning his shirt and the intense anticipation of death and the immense relief once theyre free of it. im still there. i havent left. its haunting me. that moment is just. its haunting me. its ingrained in my brain. i see harold's panic and john's resignation; both to death and to humoring (and accepting) harold's need to save him.
they wont leave my head 😭😭 im stuck there 😭😭
