In turn depression can lead to being unable to cope, both mentally and physically, through severe tiredness and inability to concentrate. Regrettably there are many sufferers who strive to carry on, but without treatment depression can last for months or even years.
Consistent angry or hostile attitude, especially when alternating between tearful, sad moods, Uncharacteristic withdrawal from family and friends; socially isolating one’s self, Feeling worthless, guilty, useless, the reason for everyone’s problems, Agitated state of mind, often restless and sometimes aggressive, Disinterest in activities that were once enjoyed, Hyposomnia or insomnia, Thinking or talking about death and suicide, Engaging in risky behaviors such as drug and/or alcohol addiction, prostitution, gambling , Anorexia, bulimia or overeating. These are ALL the common things people who are depressed experience or go through.
Freedom from misery and depression involves rupturing that identification. There is a dual reality: 1) you are who you are and 2) you experience all sorts of incidents in your life that have nothing whatsoever to do with who you are. Having an embodied, innate awareness of that truth is the definitive cure for depression.
Core beliefs are found at the center of everyones depression and can be thought of as nuggets of self-hatred. They develop in the aftermath of experiences that you think define who you are. In short, all your mental anguish is caused by identification with experience. As an example, think of what happens when a child is raised by psychologically unbalanced, alcoholic parents. They elect to spend their time going out drinking rather than raising their child. As a result of that experience the child comes to understand “they rebuff me because I’ m unlovable”. But the actual source for the rejection is that the parents don’t have the necessary emotional understanding to parent a child, nor the desire to develop them. When experience is misinterpreted and taken personally, a core belief evolves: “This experience means I am?”
Depression can have a profound affect on everything and everyone surrounding those that suffer from it, their work, and those close to them, especially friends and family. In our work like there are decisions that would be hard to make, and your production slowed and at home interest in activities would be diminished with family unable to share enjoyable moments. It is difficult for someone with depression to show affection for another therefore, there is diminished sexual activity. Those suffering from depression will also avoid friends and social gatherings, and lose interest in hobbies. The effects of depression can be quite devastating to the individual and all those around that individual.
Probably the most significant component of depression, if not all of it, is the feeling that you don’t have control over what is happening in your world. It has been shown that making animals powerless to change their world automatically makes them depressed. The sad feeling comes from the idea that you will never be able to improve your situation, whatever it is. There is no hope for you.

The problem with all the people being depressed is NOBODY does anything about it, nobody takes that footstep towards helping themselves or someone they know suffering from depression. Depression is serious, some people cope with methods I don’t even want to mention here. I have had depression for many years, I came from a dysfunctional family. I have done things I wouldn’t even admit here.

I use to be that kid with no friends, for what felt like forever I felt like I have NO ONE in my life, besides family, seriously! Now I’m not exactly popular but I am who I am, I have friends, a fiance, a child, a job, MY LIFE. I have no problem making people laugh, or acting out of my comfort zone, I’m HAPPY, and FREE.

This is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at times. Many individuals feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work or at home, before taking a test, or making an important decision. A person who has this serious illness tends to be anxious all the time. If this is not treated, this may lead to serious mental and emotional disorder that will result many in many more illnesses like panic disorder, traumatic disorder, irritability, insomnia, nervousness or phobias and even leads to heart attacks. People suffering from an anxiety disorder will have it affect every aspect of their life from the social life and work setting to the family life. They cannot focus on their everyday activities which will affect their overall work performance. Relationship with their family members and friends will be affected. This is why it is important to learn how to deal with anxiety.
It would be totally absurd to think that something like an anxiety disorder may take a bit of work to get rid of. The human mind takes years and years in most cases to develop into a brain that is afraid of everything. Constant panic attacks and bouts of anxiety are behaviors that do not just appear out of the blue for most people. This is why anxiety can be hard to control. When you learn how to control anxiety attacks, and teach your brain to overcome these feelings, they will start to go away and feel “normal”.
Mindfulness and anxiety is linked to avoidance – by this I mean the avoidance we use after we have encountered an experience that has put us in an anxious position. If we encounter a public situation where we initially end up slightly embarrassing ourselves we of course feel a little embarrassed but also feel a degree of anxiousness. This anxiousness will multiply tenfold with severe anxiety suffers and they will avoid the place and situation for evermore afterwards. Mindfulness will direct us to face the place and situation as soon as possible after a ‘bad’ incident.
Mindfulness and anxiety teaches us to go to our bad experience instead of trying our best to avoid the experience. Different states of mind lead to many different anxiety situations and mindfulness can teach us how to deal with these states of mind and the uncomfortable feeling that comes with them, which will show us how to stop anxiety for good! Mindfulness has the ability ( if used correctly ) to prove to us that we can actually choose how to react in these situations that cause anxiety. How we respond is crucial in the outcome of anxious situations.
One of the greatest stumbling blocks to me getting the help I needed was a lack of education on the subject of anxiety. Generalized anxiety, anxiety and panic attacks are topics that are much more understood and discussed today than they were twenty years ago. Certainly there are better drugs (and other options) available to treat these disorders today. And in general, there is a greatly diminished level of stigma surrounding anxiety and other mental health issues.
In general, it was the understanding that it was myself holding me back, when I found and came across ways to treat anxiety at home, I found this book, and after a few weeks it came as a relief to me. When it comes to wanting to treat anxiety, it really depends on the path you choose, drugs hide the symptoms, and curing your anxiety naturally will rid it all together, or lessen it to a much greater extent, so its up to you. Personally, I stayed on my medication and used this self help book for anxiety, I eventually felt better and better, so I lowered my dosage down and kept doing what I learned, best of luck to the path you choose!

See, theres a lot of things us humans have in common, and then misconceptions, which some people think that people just create their own negative thinking. Obviously if we were able to permanently stop it anytime, we would do that and not beat ourselves up. If you really thought that is how to know if someone is depressed by making it up, I am sure they would of made it happen a long time ago instead of suffering so deeply inside. At the same time this simple awareness of what depression is, and does can help with permanently turning off that “voice” mentally, where that negativity originates. So what to do when you are tired of life?

How we feel when we are depressed, Like victims – buffeted through the rough winds of life. We cannot grasp onto any situation that is solid so that we can pull ourselves from the storm, we often experience thoughts such as “I have no reason to live” or “I am tired of life“. Either we have seen only unfairness or we stoop to martyrdom and believe we deserve nothing better. We have lost our feeling of reason and now we can’t seem to take a good view at our circumstances and address what exactly is fact and what exactly is fiction.
When we are depressed we can’t be bothered with our own potential. We cannot lift our heads enough to determine that people have true value on this gracious planet. We cannot give ourselves and everything inside us when it comes to close relationships because we become distant together with those we love. We care less regarding how we look or we add too much whenever we go out to become a mask to the world. We stumble through our day looking for some meaning on the feelings that ravage us. We lose the drive we need to pursue our true traits, characteristics, personality and skills and in this, compromise our soul in route.
When it is possible to realize that the truth is not the same as your beliefs, you are able to stop squandering your time constantly upsetting yourself. You can then become more liberated to take advantage of the holidays, vacations, days off etc, thoughtfully picking and selecting the activities that you might want to engage in, purchasing (or otherwise not purchasing) based on your budget plus your own desires, and setting your priorities depending on yourself or with individuals that share your values and interests.
Often times I found myself saying “I have no one in my life” as depression is hard to undergo and for good reason, making you feel as if it’s only you in this world, and no one cares. It happens whenever your mental abilities are flooded with negative chemicals. These are chemicals which are associated to pessimism. So the greater negative thinking you do the more negative chemicals which are released into the brain and throughout your body. You may even feel the fight or flight response. However, we are obviously aware that there is no danger. Fear is one area you can neither hold, nor smell, nor taste, nor hear. It’s composed of being entirely inside your mind and the way that you respond to that thought will determine whether you are afraid or you aren’t.
However, It seems that the designer of the universe felt that our pain is useful to us in someway. It is our gift whenever we finally accept it as a loving part of who we are. It is the most invaluable lesson that lies deep inside each of us. Everyone discovers what it’s all about as part of our own time, the content of how fragile our lives are and exactly how brief our time is on this green green earth.

On the outside I looked like someone else – normal – but internally I was someone else. The many masks I employed to hide away from the world and prevent people really seeing who I was or what I was feeling will need to have been good because even my mum did not know that which was really happening to her son.
Depression not just adversely affects the life span in the sufferer, but also the friends and family who surround them while they feel helpless as if watching their cherished one suffer. It is a known proven fact that those who experience depression are at an increased risk for suicide; however, by having the indicators and potential risk factors it’s possible to prevent this tragedy from occurring.
