When Dallas starts apologising, Esther would be reassuring him like "Dal, it ain't your fault.." and she'd try to comfort him and tell him that it wasn't his fault at all but deep down inside she's devastated that Lottie is gone

However, when Dallas tries to run out I think Esther would of pulled him back harshly like just grab him and go like "boy have you gon mad?! Have ya lost your goddamn mind!?" I think Esther would of took one good look at Lottie and muttered "That ain't Lottie no more.."

Dallas calling her a demon would just be confirming to Esther that this whole situation has gone haywire and the sight of Lottie would be something that would be ingrained in Esther's mind forever since Esther wouldn't believe how her sweet kind little cousin turned into something like that. Esther would be thinking this is a cruel joke that the universe is playing on her.

Esther would still keep composure through the whole situation and have Dallas right behind her so that he doesn't try to run out like a mad man and I don't really think Esther would say much other than just staring at Lottie

I may also like to think that IF Dallas attempted to run out again then Esther may of slapped Dallas to 'slap him back to his senses' and give him a reality check 😭

Esther would immediately be worried and concerned when she sees Dallas looking like hell and Esther wouldn't really know that Lottie went out with Dallas since Esther was busy in the kitchen with the ladies but when Dallas starts panicking and ranting on how Lottie was killed, Esther would of been so devastated

I could picture Esther in utter disbelief because of how wild the situation is and after Grace is done tending to Dallas's wounds Estner would of been sitting nearby him and she'd be telling Dallas to calm down and take slow breaths and explain EVERYTHING but of course Dallas is too devastated himself since he literally witnessed his lover get killed

Lottie being missing definitely stresses Esther and it doesn't make things better that Dallas is ranting on how Lottie was taken and even killed which sends Esther in a spiral of thoughts and worry since Esther's baby cousin is in danger and is in disbelief on how something cruel would hurt such a sweet kind girl like Lottie. Esther would of even had the urge to go out and get Lottie but Sammie and the others would of made her stay

Lottie showing up outside infront of the door with Remmick and Stack and Mary and etc would be a very haunting sight for Esther because even if Lottie is still the same, Esther doesn't seem to recognise her at all and feel like Lottie is gone and lost forever

I wouldn't say that Esther is having a breakdown at all since she is able to keep her composure but inside she is just losing it

She disdains and fears the idea of being an immortal inhumane creature so when Remmick turns her into a vampire she is able to fight the control of the hivemind with the motivation on protecting Sammie and Smoke and she just stakes herself as her way of protecting Sammie and Smoke while also saving herself from her own fate similar to Annie 😔

But that's one version I was sticking too since I thought it'd align with the real storyline more (and adds doomed sibling core to Esther and Sammie) but I stated in another post that there was another version where she meets Remmick prior to the jukejoint events where things play out differently

Like I said before, Betsey and Andra worked in the same tailor store, so they were close friends. More so family. So close that Betsey would actually walk to church with andra and Leroy on Sunday. She also helped nursed little Lottie back to great health.

Since Lottie and Dallas grew up in the same town, you can imagine their close childhood friends. Love at first sight if anything, they met when Lottie went to bo’s store to get some vegetables for dinner. Lottie was around 7, Dallas was 8. Dallas thought Lottie was just as pretty as an angel, and as sweet as sugar. He was very intimidated by her at first…in a good way.

After a few years of subtle flirting and crushing, Dallas and Lottie got together when she was 16 and he was 17. They were very much in love, and couldn’t keep too far away from eachother. Every second, every chance, Lottie or Dallas would sneak away just to see eachother. And Dallas would give Lottie free food and vegetables from the store.(aswell as flowers) he even went to church for her.

Despite this, their relationship did have some challenges. Going out was hard, harsh and judgmental looks from everyone, and if I didn’t know any better I’d say harassment and racial discrimination. I think Dallas’s breaking point was when they were patted down and picked on by some white boys when walking home one day. It was bad..they held Lottie down, didn’t do much to her but they did rough up Dallas pretty good.

After that interaction, Dallas distanced himself from Lottie. If he saw her? It was hard though considering they lived in the same town and everything, finally on Lottie’s birthday, Dallas came by with a present and admitted he wanted to break up with her.

“I don’t think this is working.”

“What..what do ya mean?”

Dallas explained them being together wasn’t safe, nor good. Just brought nothing but plain trouble. He couldn’t keep on watching and loving on her like a lovesick fool as if the world wouldn’t blink twice if they saw them together. He knew the problems of the world, to walk through this world and be seen as a problem even before you spoke. He just knew Lottie had it much more worser than him.

Doesn’t matter how much he loves her, how sweet he thought she was, or how hard he tried to protect her, he couldn’t risk them getting hurt. Especially not her. He left Lottie at the front door, eventually when he left Lottie broke down into tears.

I like to also think that Lottie would not shut up about Dallas to Esther like Lottie would probably be fan girling on Dallas or crushing on him and Esther is just having to hear it but its ok

I don't know if this is a stretch but I also like to believe that Dallas and Esther get along in their own way since they're both alike since they're both very quiet and kept to themselves and care about things very deeply

However, AFTER Dallas breaks up with Lottie I think things would get awkward with them.

Like I wouldn't say that Esther hates him for breaking up with Lottie because Esther understands that he had no ill intention BUT Esther would still have some harbouring resentment to him because he literally broke up with Lottie on her OWN birthday and made Lottie CRY.
