71 remain missing in Negros Quake.
MANILA, Philippines - Seventy one people remained missing Wednesday following the magnitude 6.9 quake that struck the Visayas on Monday, authorities said.
The official death toll from Monday's earthquake still stands at 26.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said 13 of the fatalities are from Guihulngan City, 4 are from Jimalalud, 3 each from Tayasan and La Libertad, and 1 each from Bindoy, Bais, and Ayungon, all in Negros Oriental.
Most of those went missing are from Barangay Solonggon in La Libertad.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has recorded at least 1,239 aftershocks in the area as of Wednesday morning.
Aquino in disaster zone
President Benigno Aquino spent his birthday on Wednesday visiting areas damaged by the earthquake.
The President, together with some Cabinet members and his sisters Pinky and Ballsy, went to Guihulngan and La Libertad.
He asked Guihulngan Mayor Ernesto Reyes to reopen the city's market, so people will be able to buy food and other basic commodities.
The Health Department is also coordinating with the Philippine Air Force in airlifting those injured during the quake to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
The city's damaged water pipeline is also being fixed. Local officials said some parts of the city will have water supply by Saturday. - reports from ANC (http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/regions/02/08/12/71-remain-missing-negros-quake)

Ofcourse, i feel sorry for those people who were affected by that Earthquake. And i've read that after it was felt, it already killed not less than 43 people, destroyed buildings, caused land slide and buried dozen of houses. Then still 71 are missing up to this point. I'am thinking of the places where they're possibly stuck or what. I hope they're still alive and breathing.
I'm not that into watching news but I am pretty happy to read that Pnoy is doing something for this. He even visit the place personally to check those affected people and gave them some help like foods and other commodities. He and the government workers also started fixing the infected areas such as damaged pipelines and others. Again, i'm pretty satisfied for the quick response from the goverment.
We are still lucky that we're not those people and not in our places where that *shit* Earthquake attacked. But i know that they're still filipinos who we're in need of help and support especially from the government. I'm still a student, a busy student i guess, but i could still help by them through praying. Wishing that they could recover as soon as possible and, hopefully they will be able to find those who are still missing.

Modern time St. La Salle or St. Benilde; is the spirit St. La Salle or St. Benilde still present in 2012? How?

Yes. Because, way back years, St. Benilde was known to have deliberately learned 'sign language' to teach a Deaf-Mute boy Catechism and to prepare him to receive Holy Communion. Early then, St. Benilde had the heart to help children learn.
Now, the college itself offers a degree of 'Bachelor in Applied Deaf Studies (BAPDST), Multimedia Arts track, Business Entrepreneurship track' for the deaf people who don't consider being physically disabled as a hindrance to reach their dreams and goals in life.

(Silent Steps: Breaking the silence)

The college (DLS-CSB) also offers aspiring deaf students to show and build up their talents. Well, i could probably agree to their motto that 'Let your talents lead you where you can shine!' which is true. Follow your heart. Take yourself where your happiness is. The college will be there to guide you!
That's the spirit that we obtained/inherited from Saint Benilde Romançon which is still present up to now to help and guide deaf-mute people.

And about St. Lasalle, ofcourse i could say that his spirit is still present up to this point. Lasallians schools all over the world is the simplest yet the best proof of his dedication to teach young aspiring students and preapare each for the future. They also offer ' Scholarships and Financial Assistance' (OVERVIIEW: In keeping with its mission, De La Salle University extends financial assistance to needy but capable Filipino men and women desiring to continue educational and training programs in both the undergraduate and the graduate levels.) http://www.dlsu.edu.ph/offices/sfa/
