Mask development
The process of my mask build was to gather together bits of discarded technology, strip wires and breakdown components to build these masks. The build consisted of creating 2 distinctive masks. One a weave of wires and bits that reference popular masquerade ball masks. The second consisted of a more conventional mask. Using more computer and video game components to build. I wanted to create the two-distinct mask so viewers could understand and target the varying types of technology taking our humanity.
Built not to be worn, as more of an exhibition piece. The mask build was designed to show a more creative version of what technology conveys to use as users. Installing recognisable features that show the different users, for example the second mask consist of gaming related items as another online link to technology taking over.
The development of my promotional material was a creation from nothing. Viewing the different types of technology laying around I thought of creating smaller mask-like designs using the keyboard keys at the same time spelling out the idea I wanted to get across to my audience. This made into the words ‘insert’, Humanity’ and ‘Delete’. the idea coming from inserting yourselves into technology, then ‘deleting’ or losing your humanity to it. Each person can take away each letter, in turn taking parts of their ‘Humanity’.

Final edited Manifesto

Understand Technology.
Currently technology is everywhere, we cannot escape it. One could say we depend on it far too much. “Technology is the sum total of instrumentally useful culturally-transmissible information” (ButtePatil, P, R., 2017). To create an understanding, we first must take a step back and look at the wider picture of things. Technology initially is a ‘supplement to things that we do every day. Taken for granted technology makes things easier and more streamlined.
Technological mask.
Social media, the internet in general change us. It gives people the opportunity to act differently than themselves. A playground of sorts. We create mask that generate a veil, covering and hiding who we are from the world. This change of one-self creates a loss of being. Having the mask of technology cover ourselves creates an easy way to be consumed by the power we allow ourselves or what technology gives us. The disconnect is between the same person having a split persona. One in the real world and one in the technological world. The symbol of a the mask is a power thing. Standing for different opinions and rights. These mask are designed to cover ones face, as it consumes our mind, wrapping its wires and components around our face.

Technological Mask
Mask: 1.a covering for all or part of the face, worn as a disguise, or to amuse or frighten others.
2.conceal (something) from view.
This focus on mask how it hides our identity, how we use it online. We wear technology as a separate identity from who we are in real life.
The technology we use is just another one of us in the pool of many. The object of a mask would be to covey the technology we hide behind.

Humanity and the changing of technology in everyday life.
Looking at different ideas of the way technology changes us. Being surround like we are nowadays, technology is hidden every where without our know how, sensors, cameras, information, tracking us every where.
The idea of us being surround is interesting to me and would like to further explore this in varying degrees.
