During my travels in the Antarctica I met the amazing Henry Worsley. Henry has just completed a 36 year career in the British Army but is now commemorating Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1915 intent to complete the first crossing of the Antarctic Continent by attempting to become the first ever solo person to cross the Antarctic, unsupported and unassisted.

He is raising money for the Endeavour Fund, which is aims to support the recovery of wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women.

Cristiano Ronaldo meets 3-year-old Beirut bombings victim

It took just over a month, but Haidar Moustafa, a victim of last month’s Beirut bombings, turned his dream into reality on Friday and met his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

After tragically losing both of his parents in the attacks that killed 44 people in the Lebanese capital on Nov. 12, the three-year-old was photographed wearing a Real Madrid jersey, and the ensuing Twitter campaign devised to bring both Haidar and Ronaldo together brought the devastating story to Real Madrid’s attention. 

And at long last, the club was able to fly Haidar in to the Spanish capital and transport him to the Santiago Bernabéu, where club president Florentino Pérez and other members of the team welcomed him before his long-awaited encounter with, well, you know who. WATCH:

On Sunday, Haidar will also be able to fulfill another dream, and take in his first-ever Real Madrid match when Los Blancos take on Rayo Vallecano.

Female soccer pro disguises herself as a guy, schools everyone

Women’s soccer is more popular today as it’s ever been. 

This summer’s unprecedented Women’s World Cup coverage and record TV ratings certainly reflect that, as does the inclusion of women’s national teams in the ever-popular FIFA video game series. (They’re super fun to play, by the way).

But for detractors, women’s soccer is still miles behind the men’s game in terms of entertainment value and skill level.

Is it really though?

In an attempt to rubbish that theory, female pro Brenda Perez, who’s played for Espanyol’s and Valencia’s women’s sides, partnered up with Spanish television and disguised herself as a man before playing in a Spanish amateur match.

According to the Daily Mail, Brenda spent seven hours in make-up to become “Dani Perez” – complete with a facial mask, wig and fake stubble – before taking her male opponents to school. Like, badly.

As you can see below, after running enough circles around her defenders Perez eventually takes off her disguise while lining up a free kick late in the match, to the astonishment of her cooked rivals.  Of course, she then proceeded to bury the kick for the perfect ending:

Okay, so some of these guys look like severely out-of-shape Sunday Leaguers, but the point is well taken. As Team USA showed in Canada, women can definitely joga bonito.
