Httyd la vs Jurassic world: Rebirth

With most of the performances of the actors we saw so far I can’t say I‘m impressed. I thought they were better, especially Mason Thames. His Hiccup seems sadly weak in terms of acting same as with Nick Frost, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Gabriel Howell and Julian Dennison. As @tide-draws-stuff mentioned they all sound awkward and empty, it’s like they don’t even try. The only one who really surprised me was Nico Parker, her lines sound more real than any of the other cast members aside from Gerald Butler of course. Also I saw Bronwyn James, Ruffs actress in Wicked and she was not funny at all or I just didn’t get her sense of humor. But maybe Dean DeBlois just directed them badly. Also we all know that what he said in the interviews was just scripted because we know now what he really thinks of this remake. According to him it feels like a fan edit and is not rewatchable, not the biggest praise if you ask me.

I can’t believe I say this but I think in Jurassic World Rebirth was more effort, love and care put in as in the httyd remake. David Koepp read Michael Crichtons first Jurassic Park book before he wrote the script to bring back the Jurassic Park vibes. Scarlett Johansson always wanted to be in a Jurassic movie because she’s a big fan herself. And Jonathan Bailey just seems very ambitious and tries his best like in every of his projects and you can see and feel that in every single one of his performances.

I hate the trope of "I refuse to hit women!! [Gets decked]" cause it's boring but I do like the trope of someone in an RPG going "hey I don't wanna hit a kid that's kinda fucked up" and the kid just obliterates them

Everytime I see reboot Toothless I just think "Why is he so dry?" Hes so dry and grey looking. I think the way light hit his skin in the OG looked way more like a real black reptile . He had a velvety sheen

Rough and probably last edit (on the left and idek wtf happened to the crisp quality I had) but wayyyy more believable than the actual version. I made both his primary and secondary wings larger and extended the membrane on the first pair so it looks like he could pull more of his weight and still be aerodynamic as well as darkening his colour like the previous edits. I tried to shrink his wing bones more but the smudge brush wasn’t smudge brushing 🥴 but you get the picture!

I don’t mind him having one less finger compared to everything else. It’s just the general shape. If you see this edited version of Toothless gliding over you, you’d still know that’s him. Other and more distant shots from the actual LA make him look less unrecognizable and just less unique in general. Like why they changed his wings to this bowtie noodle ass shape is beyond me.

Again not identical to the animated version as much as I’d like it to but to have his shape resemble it more so.

We hear the chapter titles of Snotlouts book and everyone else seems to like it, but when we actually get a glimse of his writing, it's this:

Little doodles with simple, self-aggrandizing text

A layman might see this as an indictment of the books quality, when really it's quite the opposite

Snotlout is able to craft a captivating narrative, a moving piece of art, with only the simplest of puzzle pieces

It takes a pen to write, but it takes a poet to convey so much with so little

This serves only to highlight his vast artistic talent: his capabilities in writing, the visual arts (as demonstrated above), acting AND singing make him an ecletic creative, a pre-renaissance renaissance man

Truly we cannot even begin to grasp the full extent of his creative genius
