So, the aasimar is sorry, is she? Sorry she got caught, more like. And what the hell does "under her protection" even mean? Does she seriously expect me to be so naive? After what she's done?

Still... she is helping out with that favor. And as long as I'm in her debt, I'm safe; If she kills me, she loses her investment.

I know she's not going to strike before he's dead. But she seems like the type of person to want to avoid problems in the future, and causing problems is what I do.

I'm completely on the back foot. I need to figure out how to turn this situation to my favor. I will not let her get the best of me.

She wants to watch me? I suppose I get the appeal, I certainly know how to be entertaining.

I feel like such a fool for trusting her. I knew she was up to something. When did I stop checking gifts for traps?

But she's also necessary if we're going to go through with the plan. And of course, I am too. If I died, or vanished, she wouldn't get her enemy with his neck bared. But that does not make us friends.

I don't think she's the type to murder me the second I outlive my usefulness. On the other hand, she does strike me as the type to stop any future problems at the root, and causing problems was always my specialty.

So, I have to trust her. Even though killing me would be trivially easy, and probably benefits her. I don't like how lopsided this relationship is.

How do I survive another betrayal like this? I'm incredibly vulnerable, one wrong move and she'd stab me in the heart.

I guess I have to make myself useful. I provide information. I'm an expert in being a good little puppet, after all.

I've always been lucky. I always seem to show up in the right place at the right time, and when I guess at an answer, I'm right more often than not. Plus, there's the fact that I've somehow managed to put together any kind of life given my circumstances.

Then again, I was born into those same circumstances. And all the rest of that. I keep getting hurt, walking headfirst into traps, managing to miss the one detail that could have saved me.

Okay, so, for the sake of it, let me explain the plan:

Step 1: I am contacted by the Ashen Ringmaster to come down to his home city, the Sybarit. I have been down there before, of course, but he seems to want me to stay down there.

Step 2: Take well to my new location, finding people who can be used for my purposes.

Step 3: The Ashen Ringmaster is a prideful man, and he would gain no greater delight in anything I can do than to see me fail. Start producing a play.

Step 4: Get people to come. Whoever. Get them to come. Tell them ahead of time what the play is if I can, but the more people there the more likely it is the plan will work.

Step 5: Get the Ashen Ringmaster to come to the play.

Step 6: After the play, goad the audience into killing the devil. He must die.

Step 7: Survive the ensuing battle long enough to shoot the bastard through the eyes.

Potential flaws: If the Ashen Ringmaster catches onto the plan ahead of time, he can completely avoid it and just kill me. If he doesn't come to the play, none of this works. I also have no idea what the Ashen Ringmaster's full capabilities are, I just know he is more dangerous than anything we've fought before.
