Chuck Brown was one of my favorite go-go artist. I only know of go-go music because of him. I would always call him the God Father of go-go music. He is also a Virgo! Just like me!

Rest in Peace DMX. One of the best rappers for years. I love all of his songs. It was so sad to see him pass away. I know that his name will be kept alive.

Recognition in female rap
The female rap artist that I think should get more recognition is Seandrea Sledge, known as her stage name, Dreezy. I think in my opinion that she is so underrated. She is very lowkey, stay away from the drama, and is very good lyrically. She doesnât rap about the same things and can easily switch up her flow.Â

Grammys
Recently I watched the 2021 Grammys. The performance with megan thee stallion and cardi b was very interesting. I really wasnât a fan of it, especially considering it is the Grammys. I think that their dance moves were inappropriate.Â

Beats Netflix Movie
I watched a movie called Beats on netflix back in 2019. The cast in the movie was Anthony Anderson, Khalil Everage, and Uzo Aduba. This movie was about a teenager forming a bond with a producer in the world that is struggling. They bonded over their love for hip-hop. It was a great movie to watch a good learning experience.Â

Fashion Hip-Hop Culture Essay
For my essay, since my major is fashion design, I chose to talk about fashion in the essay because fashion has changed in the hip-hop culture. Fashion in the 80âČs, 90âČs, and 2000âČs had a very different fashion era. So I wanted to talk about how fashion has evolved in the fashion world.Â

Hip-Hop music videos
I was recently on YouTube watching videos, mostly hip hop videos. I was watching old school hip-hop music videos and the new school hip-hop music videos. I see that the videos are waayyyy different than what they are now. The old school videos had meaning to them. New school videos is all about butt shaking and females just standing around naked and twerking. I was basically comparing hip-hop videos from the old school vs the new school.Â

Our guest speaker in todays class was Dr. William E. Smith. The discussion was very informative and worth learning about. The common threads was very different to learn about because I never heard of any of these threads. I agree with Dr. Smith when he said that hip hop tells us whatâs going on in society today. I love the videos that he displayed, it really made me think about the hip hop from waaayyyy waaayyyy back in the day.

Hip Hop as Performance and Ritual.
Hip Hop is an expression and a poetic form to express feelings and emotions. There is an artist located in Washington, D.C named Priest da Nomad. He specializes in many aspects of hip hop including breakdancing, MCing, graffiti, and DJing. Â I always say that its good to have artist in the DMV area to get recognition. Itâs very good that he is good in many different areas of hip hop and not only just one.Â

I thought the virtual event with MC Sha-Roc and Sa-Rock was awesome. It was great to see black women empowerment of hip hop rap speak about what got them involved with rap and how it changed their lives. I learned that it wasnât a lot of MC rappers back in the day. Some women had to pave their own way and make a name for themselves. After the event, I did listen to some of their songs because after the event, I was interested into listening to their music. I did notice that their music back in the day is way different than the womenâs rap today.Â
