(This was the scene where Moran was essentially being transphobic but it's a very weird scene (and possibly even more so in the anime) not least cos they've just turned one character into another totally different character from a totally different thing (sure they can spell it Bonde if they want but that's still, inexplicably, James Bond, and the manga made that even more obvious this is James Bond stuff cos that has a bunch of other James Bond stuff in it)

and also I'm not exactly keen on how Bond does behave towards Moran, I mean yeah being transphobic isn't good but Bond's behaviour is kind of... in your face, I'm not surprised Moran got freaked out by him)

I'm definitely starting to think I'm going to have to leave one of the main antagonists in my story on the loose/not dealt with within the story because I still so want Moran to be able to go and hunt him down but there's just nowhere I can fit that in in this story

It's always kind of weird when someone gives you vague Bad Vibes on one topic and one that's not usually even that important in the grand scheme of things and then you look at their blog to find out if you're right about the Bad Vibes and find that they are in fact an awful person but that they're posting the most rancid shit about something else entirely. Usually it's someone giving you the vague Bad Vibes about one thing, often something fandom related, and you look at their blog and they're a raging transphobe or something but in this case it was someone giving me vague Bad Vibes about their attitude to indoor cats and then I looked at their blog and most of their top posts are really vile anti-Semitic shit

I have their story in my head up to the point of Victor's leave, and it's highly probable I will draw it all... I can roughly divide it into three chapters: 1st that is finished, 2nd concerning the events of the "Gloria Scott" and 3rd dealing with the mess afterwards.

A couple more of my thoughts and headcanons on the topic that came up in the meantime (hopefully no spoilers?):

I wanted their relationship to be a queerplatonic one, so if you're here for romance, you'll be disappointed. Holmes has some things thought through (as I tried to show in the previous part), he does like Victor on a different level than he has ever experienced, but he doesn't know where his boundaries of being comfortable are, and, at least for now, this is all too confusing for him to experiment. So he's just enjoying the time that they have and doesn't dwell on in too much.

Second thing is, Holmes seems to be alright with thouch, at least the way I read him. (Honestly, the amount of touch provided by him, to Watson in the first place of course, but also to other, random people? That's a LOT to me. But my view may also be biased, I don't like touching at all.) Yes, so, Holmes is alright with casual touch, and the closer he is with someone, the more alright he seems to be. I can see him as a type who will start treating friends like furniture, if they're close enough.

Ah and the third thing. I believe Holmes to be the kind of student who did a lot of extracurriculars in his fields of interest, and barely passed or had to repeat all the rest. And I hc astrology to be his sworn enemy. Because what influence does it have on the results of his chemical research or crime? Exactly.

Sherlock Holmes adaptations that write Irene Adler as his femme fatale love interest will never not piss me off. It is a bland attempt to make her interesting when she was already interesting and awesome in the original story. She is an opera singer who defied royalty and outfoxed Sherlock so well he respects her as his intellectual equal, the only woman to beat him, and she is happily married to a loving and supportive barrister.

Current favourite random piece of modern day Moran related headcanon: Kitty now refuses to watch most films with Moran because whenever there's a gun or a horse in anything he won't stop listing everything that's technically wrong with them or telling her facts about them if he can't find anything technically wrong with them.

I found one list of published texts featuring Moran by the way and half of it consisted of years old stuff I've read (and in many cases discarded) long ago and the other half was just Moriarty the Patriot - about half the entries on the list were just different issues of Moriarty the Patriot.

Every time I run out of new books to read I'm searching for new Moriarty and Moran stuff to read. This is basically me searching on goodreads/amazon/wherever else hoping something new will turn up this time:
