Don't be so afraid of finding something that you won't even look! Story Time: My mom works in the medical field, so she had all of these health awareness signs in the bathrooms when I was a kid. (I probably knew how to spell Escherichia Coli, or E. Coli, before I could spell cat) So it wasn't abnormal that I was 13 years old laying down doing my breast examination. And there it was...the wretched "LUMP." It was as firm as a frozen pea but about the size of two Mike and Ike's mashed together. I said "Ma come feel this." And she low key freaked out. We set an appointment, and I had an ultrasound done, and it was confirmed a tumor. Then it was decision time. Have a full blown surgery that could leave me with one B-cup boob while my other breast kept growing. At 13, this is devastating news. Then my doctor gave me the option to have a cryoablation and I would be awake the whole time, but had better chances of normal growing breasts. This was still in the experimental phase of treatment, but I chose my boobs over anesthetics. I was the FIRST person in Houston (2nd in Texas) to have this done. ANYWAY, after fragments of the tumor were sent to lab, it was declared BENIGN (praise Jesus). But that's not the point, the point is, it was there and it was found. Ladies and gentlemen (because breast cancer does not choose genders) check yourselves. If you find something, it doesn't always mean it is cancerous and you STILL want to know if you have an uninvited guest taking occupancy in your body. Take care of your body, you only get ONE! This class was hilarious. First of all, I decided to attend intermediate/advanced class today...mind you, I've been in beginners for the last few weeks...and it was almost a train wreck. But @betancourt.88 & Edgar are great instructors. I didn't quite get it on this take, but there were better takes. The only way to get better is to keep challenging myself.
