Looking up at the sky he sighed, the sun was already setting and he hadn’t done anything for that day. Well he had managed to do some light house cleaning and ran a few errands for his father, but he hadn’t done anything he’d call useful.

He hated how days fell past his fingers so quickly, even if he had an eternity he wanted to enjoy each one. But ever time he woke up from long rests he found he would loose his handle on perceiving the passage of time.

“At least I can enjoy the sunset... maybe I should find the others too. It’s been a while.”

Local immortal has woken up from a very long nap. “Where am I??”

The translucent feathery wings shift along her back coiling partially around the fox as she continued to play with stars. Serinaty crushed a star blowing the dust into the air as they float around decorating the white wings making them twinkle which was a rare trick she’d enjoyed.

“Thank you.” Came her bright smile to complement those words. Amethysts look down at his hesitant hands curious for a moment while analyzing his posture and puts something together. “Are you curious?”

He’d usually be ashamed of getting so excited, but he could hardly help it. The added sparkle only made Serenity look more majestic in his eyes. 

“I um- just a little bit curious. Is it okay If I touched them?” He had so many questions, and wanted to know how different they were from his own. And he wanted to know how they felt compared to regular wings found on birds. “Do you fly very often?”

Him talking a lot more was fine she liked to listen to his voice plus Dedre is adorable on his own. “It’s a form of lunar manipulation, I usually store moonlight inside me and it helps me create stars, open portals to galaxies, make mall replica ones and so on. Helps me fly as well.”

The wings grown from her back are connected to this borrowed soul within which can do quite a lot of harm if damaged.

“Oh wow, that’s quiet impressive. I’ve never seen anything like that.” He stares at it a moment, seemingly enthralled by it. The display of such ability enough was amazing enough to him, but the sight of wings utterly floored him. He looked starstruck!

There’s a small gasp and he’s silent for a good minute. But his face lights up with a smile. Maybe it was the bird brain part of him, but seeing wings never failed to excite him. And having a winged friend that wasn’t a literal bird or other winged beast was something new. “Y-you’re wings are so nice!” He wants nothing more than to touch them, but he wasn’t sure of wing etiquette.

They could wander. That’s how adventures start, and people stumble onto interesting things. “Wandering works, might as well.” Serinaty never lost her smile or positive attitude towards it.

She would follow after him should he choose to lead the way. The fox to entertain herself a little having a more active type of mind plays with creating a small galaxy in hand, twisting and turning it for fun.

“W-well that’s great then.” He smiles shyly, usually people wouldn’t find that too fun. “Though, it’s a bit of a trip... we could always fly there, if you aren’t afraid of heights. But I think it’s worth a flight, I mean the trees there have heart beats. It’s so strange.” He gets a bit excited, getting a bit more chatty than usual but stops himself before he goes of. “S-sorry.”

He’ll lead her around for a bit, eyeing the little galaxies she made in her hands with wonder. “That’s quiet the ability you have there. What is it exactly?” Dedre was always fond of stars.

Not noticing the horror much as she assumed Dedre was shy naturally the fox was still happy to think of coming to tell him stories. It’s a way to still visit no matter how things turn out. “It’s…not forever, I’ll keep reminding myself.” A stutter in her happiness.

In the meantime the fox looks about the forest wondering what they could do today. “What’s today’s adventure?”

“Today’s a-adventure?” He thinks for a moment, but nothing comes to mind immediately. He simply shrugs, he never had much to do anyways. “I suppose we could... well I don’t want to bore you with my hobbies, or freak you out haha. I’m a terribly boring person..”

“I mean, unless waltzing around a dead forest is your thing, there are a few interesting things I’ve found there.”

He’s so sweet. Serinaty hugs him again nuzzling the boy. “You’re such a cinnamon roll!” The most adorable when they smile and she hoped to see it more often. To be playful the fox kisses his cheek before pulling away.

“I’ll visit even if you sleep and tell you stories. I’m not one to let a good friend go.” The only thing that this one secretly worried about was the key word ‘centuries’ being involved. How many? She’s been alive for three already although half that time was spend dead.

“Cinnamon roll?” He doesn’t see the meaning in that and figures it’s a good thing. Before he could ask what it meant he’s stunned by the kiss. His body freezes up and he looks at Serinaty with a brief look of horror. But as soon as the look comes it passes, Dedre let’s out a deep sigh of relief happy to finally pull away.

“Well I can’t wait for your visits, even if I won’t know it. It gets lonely out there, all alone in my forest.” He manages a shaky smile, trying to make it all seem fine. But his longest rest lasted nearly 2,000 years, and this next one felt like another long one.

He reminded her of a time where love had been very rare to be received so all these hugs, and affectionate gestures were meant to give him what she didn’t have as a child. At the same time Serinaty did love hugs, as well as being pet so this was always a win-win from her point of view.

“I hope you don’t have to feel lonely, at the very least know there’s someone who loves you.” She mentions with a purr while enjoying the nuzzles and closeness he’s giving.

His eyes widen when he hears her purr and he blushes. Slowly he lifts his hand to give her head a few light pats. “I won’t be lonely. I have a some family, and I have you. It’s not much, but that’s enough for me.” And while he slept he’d have his dreams as company, so he wouldn’t be alone for a while.

“And hey, if I do sleep for centuries, you can still visit. Maybe you’ll make some new friends if anybody is around.”

To say she didn’t enjoy the little head bump was an understatement since he’s not the most fond of lots of touch. Serinaty smiles swaying her tail plenty sure of herself that this friendship would last through their problems of the mind. “Same on my end. The curse has a possibility of eating some of our memories, but I still love what memories we’ve made and want to make lots.”

The fox takes both his hands and steps backwards pulling the other forward. “We’ll make lots of memories, so many that it won’t matter if a few go missing. You’re stuck with me.”

Oh what a relief, he was worried she’d be saddened by this, or worse angry at him. He never was good with dealing with the anger of others. He nuzzles his head against hers gently for a moment and his body finally begins to relax against her. 

“Well I’ll be glad to make all the memories you want together, when I wake up I’m all yours after the first few days.” It seemed no matter how long or short his rests were it took forever to reorient himself. “Oh, and I’ll make you some sweets to make the wait worth it. I’ve been working on some recipes.”

He nuzzles her head again, this was one of the few times he could say being stuck with somebody would be a good experience.

She pouts yanking the other into a hug not wanting to hear him talk in such ways. “You’re my friend, I love you Dedre. A lot.” It’s why she continues to visit, to come searching for the other and spending what time possible with him.

“You’re never a waste of my time. Plus I’m immortal just with a twist that is a curse, so I’ll be around forever.” Serinaty pulls away a little to look at him.

Ah, he always forgot about that part. Though it seemed the few immortals he had met never stuck around long despite it. But he smiles, albeit not the happiest smile, it’s a smile nonetheless. 

He’s bent down awkwardly, and just rest his head on top of hers and sighs. “That changes things a bit, but you’ll be bored. It could be a few hours, or centuries, I never know. And... the longer I sleep the more less I remember.” What if he forgot about Serinaty? Or was he just being paranoid. “I don’t remember a lot of important things anymore you know. I know you cherish all our memories together, I do to, but some things I can’t help but let go.”

“X, language! Your brother is trying to rest, you’ll disturb him!”

She didn’t ever want to forget her friend.

“Oh... well in that case I’m glad I suppose.”

He didn’t believe that, but the sentiment was nice. “It will be a long nap though. I’d ask you to wait for me, but I’d hate for you to waste what time you have left.”

Dedre sits beneath the tree, hands folded neatly in his lap. He felt so tired, and that’s what scared him more than anything. More than anything he wanted to rest, just for s little bit. But he wasn’t ready to forget just yet.
