Regulus’ first night alone at Hogwarts is scary. The castle is a labyrinth, his friends are still strangers, and he doesn’t have his big brother to hold his hand anymore. He slips out of bed that night and slithers through the shadows, making his way up to the Gryffindor dorm, and, even though he doesn’t know the password, he knocks three times, just like Sirius said. He waits a long minute, biting his lip thinking that he was forgotten about yet again, but then the door opens and a half asleep Sirius stands in front of him. Without a word, they fall into the common room and Sirius shares the blanket on the couch, pulling him in close just like all those nights at home. It’s the first and last time Regulus ever runs to Gryffindor, but those first few weeks, Sirius still sleeps on the couch just in case his baby brother needs him.
