This Strip From Order Of The Stick Points Out Why Redemption In Hazbin Hotel Doesn't Work

The biggest problem with Hazbin Hotel is in my opinion they think having a sad backstory as a victim makes up for the shit you did in life and that means you have an aim at redemption. However, the goal of redemption is that you are working hard towards making up for your mistakes. But Hazbin Hotel refuses to do so because that would mean actually having to own up that their characters aren't poor souls discriminated by heaven, but are down there for a reason. It's why it's a cop out why heaven not knowing what gets people into heaven is bs, because what we have seen so far many people who are evil to their core are down there. While do sympathize with our main cast, they got down there for past misdeeds. It can't be brushed off with grand gestures, but a fact that they need to understand that yes they were not always the victims and wrong the world themselves. They again should strive to make up for it in their afterlife if they ever think of being redeemed.
