Pitfalls of essay writing that you should avoid
Essays have been a part of our educational system from elementary school to doctoral research. Yet, experience does not mean that the essay writer is not prone to mistakes.
Some of these writing pitfalls develop over time due to carelessness or lack of write my essay. Other times they are caused by a lack of personal effort to improve.
Recognizing these pitfalls is a big step on the road to improvement. Here is a list of pitfalls that essay writers can overcome.
Misunderstanding the question
Before attempting to write an essay, it is necessary to understand the question or the topic of the essay itself. One should know what the assignment is by asking what the essay wants him or her to create. Whether it asks you to describe, analyze, compare or explain a thing, phenomenon, idea or entity.
If you get this first part of the assignment wrong, your essay will be worthless to the reader regardless of the effort you put in.
Poor planning
The second sin in essay writing is zero effort in preparation. Before you start spouting ideas on paper as they pop into your head, it is important to plan the essay through brainstorming.
Brainstorming can be done using mind maps, bullet points or a combination of write my essay for me. It will allow you to visually transfer anything that comes to mind onto the screen or paper. It's not only a way to get to know the essential points of your topic. But it is also a way to become aware of the different relationships within the parts of your topic.
This helps to create a plan to guide the essay. Also, when you have a new idea in your head while writing, you must always know where to put it.
A little knowledge about thesis and topic sentences
The most important parts of an essay are:
- The thesis statement in the introductory paragraph
- Topic sentences for each of the main paragraphs
A thesis statement is an announcement of what you are proposing about the topic and what your main argument is about. It is the theme that carries the entire essay and to which each section of the essay relates.
The topic placed at the beginning of each part of outline. It is to that paragraph what the thesis sentence is to the entire essay. It also states what the paragraph will be about in relation to the central thesis statement.
Phrase these two parts clearly, precisely, and concisely because they help grab the reader's attention.
Avoid long paragraphs
Many people don't realize the purpose of an introduction and how to start an essay. They end up lengthening the introduction by weaving a long narrative about the topic. Usually, such an introduction reads like an encyclopedic entry and sometimes lacks a good hook.
The introduction should be short and concise:
- Hook: A one-line sentence that gets the readers' attention.
- Short introduction: 2-3 lines.
- Thesis: Usually a one-line statement, but can be up to two lines.
The purpose of the conclusion, meanwhile, is to reiterate the thesis statement and each topic sentence. It also ends with a brief denouement or call to action.
Analytically boring
The essay is not a reiteration of what others have taken on the topic, it is your work. A lack of understanding and research can lead to an analytically boring essay. Similarly, this is often the case when a writer successfully records both sides of an argument. However, he or she lacks the insight to connect them and find or suggest a solution. Or when the writing reads like a list of ideas that lacks the writer's personal stance.
